Microsoft won the bidding war and got the most coveted OEM of them all. The hijack worked. Nokia is now the Scandinavian housewife doing all the chores for her new American husband. But guess what? In this shotgun marriage, Nokia is still selling #1 in volume sales and still getting billions from her new hubby.
This is why Microsoft is the real winner in the relationship and celebrating right now. More Ballmer, please?

^^^ Would Steve Jobs do this? No. Boring. Gates and Ballmer would!

Anonymous, 13 Feb 2011So what do you suggest Phone arena, to the people who are currently using Nokia and a symbian ... moreAnd what are you suggesting? Stay on the boat until it sinks? Read the writing on the wall. Open your eyes and read what is going on on Nokia. It won't take you 10 minutes to know that they are abandoning Symbian and don't listen to Nokia's propagandas. This isn't the Nokia that we know. This is the Nokia that's being controlled by Microsoft! Don't be blind dude! It's only a matter of time before they pull the plug on Symbian. If the sales tank then they might pull it sooner.
Read some forums about Nokia and read the comments of the developers. They felt mad and betrayed. The countless hours they spent is now wasted on a dead OS with no future!
maemo and intel and nokia oparating system device meego.. to be realeased in Q2 http://techie-buzz.com/mobile-...rcelona.html

If you are referring to the fact that it asks you to connect to the net each time it starts up, then that is just for positioning reasons. You see, it uses A-GPS and network based positioning to get a faster and more accurate lock on your position.
You can disable those features, but doing so would dramatically slow down the time it takes to find your position and wouldn't be as accurate.
Dont you see it? WM7 is only for getting in the US market, for the rest they will market Symbian and Meego!
They will cover all bases!
Ill stick to the N8 until Meego arrives!

green n8, 13 Feb 2011at the end of the day, whatever it is nokia decides to do, we consumers have our choice. it's ... moresamsung announced 1ghz phone with 1GB ram amdroid 2.3, LG announced 1.2ghz phone with 512 ram android 2.3 each having about 4.3 400x840 with super AMOLED display. U knw what I love my N8 but nokia is out of competion. Lets see what do they announce tomorrow.
at the end of the day, whatever it is nokia decides to do, we consumers have our choice. it's either we take it or we don't. technology development is so fast that if you buy a new gadget today, it can be obsolete tomorrow. as for me, until i find a new phone which delights me like my n8 did when i first got it, i'll stick to it as of the moment.
nokia has announced that in 2011 symbian^3 updates will release as symbian^4 thats it after that no updates and finally in 2012 no symbian no updates and new era of nokia will begin with wp7 phone....let see what nokia do bcoz after symbian they should adopt android or os like iphone or meego but wp7 is quite shocking news wp7 does'nt suites nokia.not expected this from nokia but may be windows would be different from current wp7
