i got a pure black one abt 2 weeks back! Its an awesome phone .. a true class .. a rich thing when ur holding it .. a complete eye catcher !
everythings perfect .. even the symbian bein marginally slow doesnt hurt . and the battery life althou bein a lil less is perfectly manageable!
pros are a million u can read in all the official reviews on this website only!
the only problem is .. that wenever there is an incomin or coutgoin call on the phone .. the screen pixels get distorted and scatter out ..
this has been happenin since the day 1of openin the phone seal .. i am quite surprised wid it !
a 9/10 in my scalebook for an N80!
dont wait for any price slash or smthin .. go ahead .. every since dollar is worth it !
i prefer the pure black colour .. so dat ways !

To everyone having crash problems I recommend upgrading your firmware to 4xx. I had crash problems at first with firmware version 3xx esp. while browsing the internet with wifi. Since the upgrade I haven't had a crash so far. You can upgrade either through a service centre that I used to upgrade my n70 or through the new downloadable program by nokia here: http://www.nokia.com.au/nokia/...6565,00.html
I used the program for my n80. Take note that the ability to upgrade depends on the network you bought your fone from. I believe there are some people having difficulties upgrading because the software couldn't find new firmware. This is because some fones are locked to a network and sometimes the network the fone is locked to does not allow the firmware to be updated. Make sure you also back your contacts and messages up as well as the software you may have bought as these are going to be deleted.
I hope this helps.
I bought this phone recently because it was recommended to me by a friend. I'm still new to the symbian OS so it was difficult to get used to. Luckily, I have had friends with more experience with the OS and they showed me how to put it to good use. Some people may argue that the interface is slow, well yes it is as I have grown used to the series 40 nokias speed(Note: the fone can be a pain in the a-- if you constantly turn it off and on as it has to load all the programs at every reset it may take a long time to load up mine loads approx. 5 mins from the push of the on button although I always keep my phone on most of the time only turning it off when the battery is completely dead). However, I have gotten more used to handling this fone and the speed isn't that bad. I've installed about 10 programs on the phone so far including SNES and Gameboy emulators which I use to play phone games nowadays rather than the java games (No fighting games as it is very difficult to use the navigation pad to do a hadouken ect.). Smartmovie is another program I've also been introduced to. Simply put it's a movie player that can play .avi files on your fone. This piece of software also comes with an encoder for movie you wish to encode and watch on your phone. For the same amount of data the quality of the movie is much much better than .mp4 file format IMO. As for the wifi feature I use the phone to chat on MSN and Yahoo during work rather than using a monitored PC. Heee..
All in all good phone, I'm just waiting for skype to be released for the Symbian to take full advantage of what this phone has to offer - FREE CALLS.
I have had this phone since June 2006. I am now on my third handset and second battery. I have had nothing but problems with this phone and I would not recommend this type of mobile to anyone. I have had problems with the software, turning itself off mid-conversation or mid-text and locking.
Hello...i've just bought this phone. it's realy nice but it works realy slow. it looks great and it takes great photos. i can't connet it to my wireless network card on the laptop..this is my only problem. could someone help me? thanks
I already have Google maps, but I am looking for software for N80 that give voice directions via bluetooth and GPS receiver.
This phone really bad like this? i m wondering to buy dis phone....coz at Malaysia is quite cheap...jz 1.5k....plz giv me more opinion on N80..thx
Well I went and bought one with the latest software V.4 and in the last two weeks I've had some problems ie. reception, poor battery, loose slide, screen garble and just about all the bad things everyone has spoken about. So off it went to Nokia service and mind you just the once. It came back entirely different, they replaced the battery, replaced the slide assembly, apparently tweaked the settings on the receiver and the power management. These can only be done at a service centre. Guess what it now does everything what it suppose to with no issues with reception or wifi connectivity. It is still a little slow in reading stuff off the SD card but this may well be an issue with the card rather than the phone itself. My thoughts anyway. PS TomTom with AUS maps runs really well with just a standard bluetooth receiver with no disconnection problems.
