For those N80 users who are complaining about low signal/coverage and poor battery life here are my suggestions:
*if you choose Dual mode - your phone will look for 2 diff types of signal (either 3G or GSM) so that means this mode gives you more signal and lesser battery life (it drains your battery coz its looking for 2 diff signals)
*if you choose GSM - your phone will only look for GSM but the signal will still be strong coz GSM has wider range and it doesnt suck the life out of your battery
*if you choose 3G - your phone will only look for 3G but the signal wont be that good coz 3G is still considered new technology and at the same time it tends to eat up more battery life compared to GSM.
Hope this helps. If you have any questions just email me.
it's just toooooo many 'opinions' posted here so i'm breaking the rule sayin 'Read before you post. Search before you post. There is a big chance that your question is already answered' and i didn't ask anything anyway but i'm sure some of the N80 owners wonder how to use the WLAN thing - u need to configure ur pc for that and here's what u need >>> http://www.few.vu.nl/itg/?p=se...s-504&m=1,12 Good luck!
ok so UPnP stands for Universal Plug and Play. It's a..let's say...complex technology :D It's used for data transfer and similar stuff....really i think u'd better try browsin one of their sites cuz I'm not really sure either and their explanations r much more accurate. however if u have UPnP compatible devices such as printers, TVs, and maaany others, ur phone works as a remote control. now how cool is that?:) ur N80 accesses the 'digital house' - i mean ur PC, TV, whateva..u got the point! PLUS u can for example listen to the music storred on ur N80 directly on ur home stereo player, through UPnP!:) cyaaa!
ok this fone rulz it's full of features but unfortunately a bit heavy and bricky, not rili appropriate for a gurl but at least our fingers are smaller so the 'first row' issue is not our problem :) it's really awesome and i think it's worth buyin. carl zeiss is indeed a big name but people who own nokia phones with this new carl zeiss optics thing are now rather disappointed because of the amount of money they had to pay for their N93 for example and the fact that there's no substantive difference in the photos they take! :( yep....sad!
The N80 does have quite a short battery life. At the end of a day with frequent use the battery will have gone right done.
But on the plus side it only takes up to an hour to fully charge - I guess thats because the battery's so small!
Anywho, can be annoying but it's not a major disadvantage (for me anyway)
n80 is the best of nokia phones at all its of 5best mobile phones in the last quarter year
as you probably remember, 02 network told me that after my 2nd Nokia N91 became faulty, it was suddenly NOT available on 02 online contract...
so they told me i couldnt have one..
i have had the N80 for about 2 weeks now, its great...
but, i just added 13 albums from my CD collection and put them onto the 2GB card.. they play fine, no problems at all...
but the output volume is just rubbish, my old N91 was amazing, it had loads of volume, you never needed to put it past 3 quarters on the volume dial, and the quality was phenomenal...
this N80 is just too quiet at full volume, you have to turn the Equaliser settings up really high and it has no "guts" to it at all...
im gonna try and sell the N80 on Ebay now, and buy back an N91.. then get the software updated on it to version 2
i bought this phone a week ago but i am selling it i'm not really pleased with it and i heard that the SE P990 will be out anytime soon.. i should have waited 4 this phone instead.. i hope it isn't too expensive.. the P990 i believe is definitely worth the wait.. i'm sure it wl be the best if not one of the best smartphone in the market.
i was planning 2 buy this buy this phone but i just decided 2 wait 4 the SE P990 seems like an excellent smart phone.. i found the n80 a bit 2 manly looking and bulky.. although the P990 should be big and bulky as well but i am sure the unit would be worth it and is definitely worth the wait..
Ok, the screen on this smartphone is astonishing!! It just blew me away once I pushed the on button. There so much you can do with this phone. The only downfall is that I can't use my applications I bought for my N70. I msn with this phone more than i MSN with my laptop now!! Thanks to wifi.. 10 times the portability, and 8 times more battery life than a laptop. Ok I'm overexagerating. However, this phone does much better than my pda in terms of battery life. Although the camera is sub par with other 3 mpx cam-phones. But as I already have a Nikon D80 camera that doesn't really bother me. I was playing with a friends k800i as he has been trying to convince me to buy one, i got bored of it within 40 mins of playing around. I tell him that i buy phones that i can play with for at least 2 years not one that bores me 45 minutes :p. With a phone like the n80 i'm sure 3rd party software vendors will release programs that will utilise the tools available for a feature packed phone. All it takes is time. I just can't wait till they make a program that will utilise the cameras, such that it can be used for video conferencing through wifi, or even audio conferencing used in yahoo and msn and such. Ok i'm straying. The possibilities are endless with the N80. 2 THUMBS UP
Does the N80 support playlists in its MP3 Player?
If yes, how is it working out so far? Is it slow to load?
does anybody know if you can set the phone to display the album titles only when u open up images and videos? i have assigned them to albums but each image shows when i open up images n videos! please help
Firmware update! Why not try ....dogtoe!!??
Just kidding, wait for a few days untill N80 is listed on Nokia Phone Software Update.
Hope this helps...
hi guys i have some questions regarding this N80 i just bought and to hear some suggestiosn and help
1- is the battery life suppose to be really short? it almost seems with moderate use..the batter runs out by the end of the night after each charge is done say 8am of that morning.
2- everytime i charge my phone when the battery is about to die out, it seems it only takes about 1 hr to fully charge the phone..or so it stops charing at that time period..is that normal?
3- is there anyway u can access the "ringing tone files that comes with the phone"?(not the ones you put in yourself) in the profile section? say transfer via bluetooth to another phone?
if anyoen can please answer...thank you
Why can't anyone answer this question? I need another site for firmware upgrade... dogtoe is not working... Does anyone realize how many of us could have our problem fixed by flashing to the new firmware?! Whoever answers this could be helping so many people on this forum... someone please step up, I'll pay 10$ US via paypal to whoever can help!!! Thanks
*To the one wandering* You should KEEP your N80 instead and rather NOT go for the N73 as it is NOT a better phone than N80 at ALL ! N73 ONLY has got a bigger screen but the resolution is much POORER. And the "carl zeiss" on N73 does not make a difference in a way that u will notice it. N73 also has NO Wi-Fi & it is not a slider - so it's BORING and straight forward. The N80 has pretty much everything a phone can have and it won't get 'outdated' easily. It will be hard for any other phone to compete with this state-of-the-art mobile ! And as far as I know, every single Nokia that I had over the years had to be charged about once a day on regular usage. To the conclusion that this phone makes no exception - so it won't bother me @ all !...
