So nokia is going to release a software or firmware that can be used to update or upgrade the old nokia n80's to the new Internet Ready Nokia n80's?
of course you can turn it off but by an indirect way : the phone searches for a wlan every certain time you can from the settings make him never searches for a wlan unless you need to use it its 100% sure don't worry

IMPORTANT!!!
few days ago i bought silver N80 and seemed like it was assembled in europe!!!, it was greatly assembled, fast, and beautiful. I LOST IT!
today, i bought BLACK N80 (another $600). sh.t is totally f..ked up! loose parts, body play, face unglued, and more of all- software different than on the first one i had! Black one was CHINEESE!
so, that's why we have some HAPPY ones and some UNHAPPY ONES here!
WATCH OUT!!
Well, also good to know all of you here!
As i've understood, we are dealing with 4 groups of people,
1)The ones who bought N80
2)The ones whos friend bought N80 but they pretend to be having it on their own.
3)the ones who wants to buy N80 but can't afford or still undecided.
4)and the ones who bought other phone but wanted N80.
I got this phone yesterday after long thinking comparing, and weighing all aspects, but finally bought it,(Silver model though)
Gorgeous beautiful and very functional piece of equipment!
though, a little specific about controls and menues, as well as navigation of those.
so far no bugs, no complaints, and it's solid body don't play!
Good Luck to All groups of people mentioned above except group 1!(they are already lucky)
Is it true you cannot turn the WiFi off on this phone??
Also I read the new internet edition N80 is SIP based VOIP which means you will NOT be able to use Skype. Looks like the same phone but just bundled with some downloadable software.
Signal are pretty good... not compare with those old old one with antenna. wifi works just fine.. USB cable make it just like a portable drive. ringtone is loud... in fact.. very loud.... downside is that not too mnay software support it's OS platform in the market yet.
To people complaining about software glitches, limited battery life and wifi problems... the answer lies in the UPGRADING OF FIRMWARE. Nokia has realised the little glitches in the phone and has fixed them in the new release firmware. you will also notice more battery life.
A tip for those who want to get more battery life instantly: Set your mobile to GSM mode in your network settings instead of DUAL mode. Dual mode can only be used in certain parts of Europe, so if u have it on GSM, it wont have to search for UTMS and GSM (dual), therefore saving battery life.
Hope that helped,
IF you found it useful or require more info, email me.

Will we get a version update of the new Internet Edition on our Nokia N80? Or the new Internet edition N80 is different from the old N80 ?
I recently bought a nokia n80, and so far it performed just the way i expected it to...The 3mp camera, takes breathtaking shots...The only negative aspect of the n80 that I see is the lack of autofocus, and sometimes it takes time for it to process data...It boosts a magnificent music player and is a good "multimedia smartphone", people fail to see that it is a great multimedia device
can you change the wallpaper to what ever picture you want
i read that the old 3.---- firmware is bad but ive got the n80 v3.0617.0.6 : 03-05-2006 and its never got stuck n sms takes about 1 sec
Nokia plans to release an upgraded version of its N80 smartphone this September that's been christened the N80 Internet Edition. Wi-Fi, support for third-party VoIP applications (Skype, basically), a Download! cleint and a Yahoo!-powered mobile search application are what make this N80 ready to greet the smut-filled world of the Internet.
The multimedia-friendly phone has a 2.1-inch screen with a 352x416-pixel resolution screen and runs on GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz networks. Nokia promises three hours of battery life while talking and eight days of standby time. The 3-megapixel camera is appreciated, but there's a noticeable lack of autofocus and VGA recording. Bluetooth, a miniSD slot, and USB 2.0 support are also included. Plus, if you like reading books on a relatively tiny screen, you'll be thrilled to see the inclusion of a Mobipocket eBook reader.
The N80 Internet Edition will be in European and U.S. stores by the middle of September. You might as well guess the price, however, since it hasn't been announced yet.
hey guys just a simple ques.
how does the signal work?coz i experienced the n6630 who has the poor signal..
if i purchase an n80 what is the best color and the most durable, the black or white?
reply asap pls....i need it 1st week of september
what?!! is that true i just read the article below says there is no option to turn wifi off??! surely that cannot be true..
@snubmoggy
- the N80 plays mp3 files in stereo (enven with your own favorite headset, but not with blue tooth headsets). it actually sounds good enough as an alternative for any decent mp3 player.
Hi I have a music question I hope someone can advise - been looking to buy an N80 but have just read a review that says the N80 doesn't have support for stereo audio - is this true?? I know it will play FM radio in stereo but will it play MP3s in mono or stereo??? I have the 3230 which does this and I find it annoying.. thanks for any replies
the review was at http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/06/21/review_orange_nokia_n80/page2.html at the bottom of that page it says there
