I have been looking forward to buying a Nokia N80... got it yesterday. I'm telling you guys, it's a wonderful piece of circuit-board. Got it in black and it's sure does look sexy. Changed the theme to a black one too so it looks even better. The wifi setup was not a problem at all, took me under 3 mins to set it all up without even looking at the manual. Browsing speed is as good as it gets. The bluetooth connected right away (Inspiron 8600 and N80). Connects me right away whenever im near the notebook.
The camera/ flash/ video works good. No problems with them.
The keypad, some people say is small, i had no problems typing a long msg even w/ my big fingers.
Can't say anything about the battery life coz it lasted me a whole day. As soon as i got the cell phone i hooked up the batteries and started playing with it. Never charged it and even then it lasted me a whole day w/ wifi, bluetooth, games, installing applicatins etc etc.
The RAM could have been improved by nokia as the lagging is still there but i can live with that.
Ive been watching/ reading this forum since the first time i found that N80 is coming out and now i have my own. It feels good to have it in your palm.
Let me know if anyone has any questions regarding N80.
p.s any cool softwares/ applications for N80?
The battery life on my phone is only 1.5 days just on standby! That's terrible as I'm not using it at all just now. I'm still using my old phone until my number is ported over.
Is anyone else having the same problem or does it last longer on standby for you?
gsmarena states standby is up to 192 hrs....
All the features of the phone are good. But the picture quality of the photos are not good and the video quality is very poor. If nokia said that images and video are very good, there is something not right about these claims. Even my Nokia 6680 shoots better vidoes than this. The n80 videos are full of grains and it is very difficult to see the video clearly. Btw the wireless features are very good and the web browser is unbelievably good. I can connect to my wireless lan even using the wep encryption and the browser lets me surf very intelligently. But i must say on the images and video front my N91 works a hell lot better than this with almost same kind of features and the massive 4gig hard drive. N80 is a clear disappointement in terms of camera and camcorder features.
pls tell me that does N8O have sound clear comapre to N73? Pls give me more recommenations. I like the phone features that have a clear sound or ringing tone.
Does anybody know if the wifi in this phone support WPA-PSK encryption?
It would be really annoyed if I bought the phone and realise it does not support WPA-PSK, like my Nintendo DS!
when I get a wifi line, it said I need to enter WEP key, does anyone know what is that for? thanks
Hey is it possible to watch youtube videos on the web browser? Coz the n80 has flash player and videos on you tube are flash files. Btw, i'm typing right now with my n80 browser!
can some one explain me does it have a 3MP cam or 3.2MP cam.. coz in the spec it says 3.2 but actually when i look at some pics here, it is 3MP?
Got it 2day....gotta say its an Excellent phone, looks great, works great, im well into technology and really like this phone.
to answer a few Q's...To lock key pad just slide it shut, then select ok when ask if you want to lock keypad. To turn flash off,> image setup,> flash..(auto,redeye,on,off). to turn off shutter tone,>tools,>profiles,>and turn of keypad tones..(in chosen profile) ...battery life is what you expect from a small phone with all its features...bluetooth, wlan, mediaplayer, music player, camera, etc...
i compared the sound in se W810 and nokia n80, and nokia n80 is louder, big difference
does anyone know how to lock the keypad when the slider is closed? Also can you watch youtube vidoes on the s60 browser?
The N80 is available in the US at the new Nokia Store in Chicago, IL. Comes with US warranty. Silver is only color available. $599
A phone which gives alot of problems when I first purchase it. The in-built web browser doesn't do a good job as touted, it hangs, freezes and pops you out to the main menu of the phone when you try to reload pages or just simply to try and connect to particular websites. The latest firmware version (3.0617.0.6) is not of any good use. After upgrading (the nokia technican told me that the web browser problem will be resolved when I upgrade the firmware, as they are quite certain that it's the firmware problem) my keypad starts to "freeze", doesn't respond to any button pressing at all, the phone will "auto shutoff" by itself. I wouldn't advise user to upgrade the firmware, unless there's a better version out. I've been advised to send my phone in for further diagnosis. I'm pretty sure there's nothing much they can do about it. Using the Opera web browser is much better than the nokia version as it doesn't have any problems loading any websites. Other than these problems, this is a pretty handy phone, however with so many problems I wouldn't say it's value for money.
I have just ordered the N80 through 02 managed to get it free of charge which always makes me smile. Its on its way and should be delivered on monday. Just a quick question, is the wi-fi easy to use and is it free if you go to a wi-fi hotspot eg cafes etc?
Can any uk users provide any advice?
Really looking forward to getting my hands on it. It also says on the o2 website about it having tv output, anyone experimented with this?? is it any good?
