Well, I said Europe/Middle East, but the lauganges are two Asian Symbols like Chinese and a thrid like Arabic and of course English. So I don't know where this phone comes from. :-)
Thanks for the responses regarding shutter sound effects. I didn't realize that it was the law in some countries. I can understand why but hope that the U.S. version will not be the same way.
My Nokia 6230i, which I believe came from Europe/Middle East market, has the option to turn off the shutter sound.
To Nath: i rang voda and they offered me 120+ as the cheapest offer so i cancelled my contract and asked for my PAC code, so they put me through to cancellation who asked me why i was leaving. told them about oranges offer and they said ok they will do it for me. if they dont go cheaper for you, threaten to leave them for orange.. they hate it lol.
I don't see why a "phone" will die without a photo flash (xenon). Isn't a "phone" a "phone" and a "camera" a "camera"? If you want so much out of a phone NOW, and would not like to wait for phones that will come out in HALF A YEAR'S (btw, N93 is coming out around July, according to Nokia) time, just go buy a digital camera + PDA + phone.
the nokia n80 is great with its 3 megapixel camera and 2GB memory it is cheaper than the nokia n70 when it came in saudi arabia . n70 was SR.4810 and n80 is SR.3899 . ain't it cheap
This phone is dead. Because a lot of people bought N70 and it is good phone but it does not have photo FLASH and infrared. N80 should have a real photo FLASH which it does not have so there is no point to buy this one. Better to wait half a year for N93. Why in hell do they post phones which will not be awailable for half a year?
1) Does anyone know if Vodafone have messed around with the interface of the N80 much? Their "customisation" of previous SE phones got rid of the nice full colour icons and replaced them with 4-colour red and black ugliness.
2) myZQ - any tips on getting an N80 as an upgrade from Vodafone for only £50 + £20/month?
Cheers, much appreciated!
I see, that's a bit high still :)
Re Camera Shutter Sound:
There is an option to change the shutter sound (4 sound options), but there is no option to turn it off. I haven't tried shooting on "silent" profile yet though, if there is still a sound or not... but as of now, there are no options to turn it off.
works great, easy to setup... fast browsing for me... the new browser is amazing
Re Video Quality
Initially I was saddened by the grain and noise on the video, but after some tinkering with the options (make sure you set the video settings properly, like lighting, brightness, contrast, colors, etc), the video quality improved. Still, I can't compare with N70's quality, since I haven't tried an N70 yet.
Does anyone with this phone have any troubles using the "1, 2 and 3" keypad for messaging and number storing?
Hehehehe.. just got an upgrade from vodafone for £50. contract is £20 per month as well :) sweeet.
rob no WLAN is absulutly free. it is simply like anteowrk. doesnt access gprs or wap. its just inbuilt wlan that allows u to transfer file to and form ur pc and use the internet.

The "cannot turn off camera shutter sound" is a law in some countries. So, if you are from one of those countries, there is no way to disable the sound unless you flash your fone with other firmware version. The sound file is inside system folder which is protected as I understand.

quote myq3 -
"To whoever asked no you can not turn off the camera shutter noise! Oh and tomtom is not supported on this phone YET!"
Well, that is BS. I've never had a problem turning off the shutter noise on previous Nokia's. How could they forget such a thing?!?
The phone seems powerful in terms of software, and then they force the camera's shutter noise?!?
That is sooooooooo Samsung.
i like the design & quart bands ,but the soflware & camera really dissappointed me...
