also a mini vacuum will be built in into the phone, the post below is from me by the way as well
im a factory worker for nokia and ive been told by my manager that the nokia n80i will also now have a built in swiss army knife and a mini water bottle built in at the back. For those who never saw my previous post other main features are a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, carl zeiss lens with vibration, 20 x optical zoom and a secondary 1.3 megapixel camera for 3g calls. Nokia N80i will be out in november and will be available for 550 euros, $600 or £275
I think the N92 has more advanced features but the N80 is by far the best. I wouldnt like to have the N92 in my pocket at that size!! the N80 has a more sophisticated and stylish look to it. I'm so in love with this phone!!!
I am fully agree on the text editing part. Therefore this phone is most likely out of my choice and will go for the p9901 instead. But if you don't need the device badly, I think puting some patience on waiting for the p990i would be worthing since I think overall feature wise, it is better than the imate k-jam
I just trying to state my point of view, same like you and others. Don't worry I not scolding or shouting at you either.
From my observation, the increment of color from 262k to 16m color is more alike equal to from 240x320 to 352x416. Both also take a step further only since the color screen just right below 16m ones would be the 262k ones and same goes to screen resolution. 16m screen is actually not something advanced or new. Just that nokia rarely use it on their phone only. Take a look on panasonic model. Even a mid low range vs2 was utilizing a 16m color screen. As I mentioned earlier, different people had different taste so there actually no arguement on screen color and resolution.
And regarding dvd-h tv receiver comparing to 3g tv streaming, I don't think 3g video is expensive since my phone telco offering free video packages for 3g subscribers for the 1st month. And charges of video package which includes different channel will cost from around usd2.00 to usd4.00 depends on which package you choose. So I don't think the charges for 3g video streaming is very expensive since you can select those channel which you needed only. Where as for dvb, I not sure how good is their availability worldwide, and I not sure whether their service is free or not as well. Maybe there are dvd users here in this forum who can provide me with answer? At least this service is not available for me within this year which I am quite sure of it 8). The build in tv receiver is indeed something advance, but when you can't utilize it, it just equal to not existing.
And regarding the gaming section, honestly do you think is that worth your hard earn cash for it? Both n92 and n80 would not be cheap when release. If someone really into gaming, I think a psp of nds would be better with a wider range of game support and cheaper price.
The only thing I feel which is advanced in both phone is the wlan connectivity together with the 3g support in 1 phone device. It hard to find both 3g and wlan in current available smartphone devices. IMO both n80 and n92 will be able to attract some pda phone users since only dopod 900 had both function build in but the device itself is heavy with the weight close to 300g. The earlier nokia release their n80, the more sales nokia can gain. When company like O2 starting releasing smaller and lighter win mobile phone with 3g support, nokia will be garantee to face some tough competition in the market.
The truth of the matter is that while it lacks the TV feature of the N92 it is still a better smartphone. Problem is that it has no keyboard (built in) and uses that crappy multiple push numeric system that is sooooo hard to get anything longer than a few words out on. Also, this would realy hamper web browsing, even with hi-speed internet. I think that I am torn between this, the i-mate K-Jam and the Sony Erricson P990i... PS. Nobody offers 3G internet for any of these phones and thus will not support the video phone. What's up with that?
"best phone" is subjective,we all have different tastes and preferences...
im neither on the side of n80 or n92...im just explaning their features in a logical manner...
i hope you take this information openly and kindly... --n92 is really meant for watching tv's thats why watching over 3g is more expensive than watching using dvb-h...
i hope you weren't offended...
sorry if u were.
i only mistakenly write 65,536... sorry...
yes both color and resolution advantage are subjective...my point of why
i'm comparing the color advantage and resolution advantage is just to show the "PROPORTION" of those two qualities, if the color increase by 60 times then the resolution must also increase by 60 times in order for them to be equal(regardless of how our eyes see the change)
i hope you do understand my view... i'm here for peaceful talks, i'm neither PRO N80 or PRO N92.
i'm not on the side of n80 or n92. what i just want to express is that the most appropriate ADJECTIVE for me to describe those two phones are... nokia n92 more advanced and n80 the best... n92 is more advanced because of the newer features it has... and nokia n80, the best because of the spectacular improvement of the previous technologies(except UPNP). any choice of you of the preferable phone will be diffent from mine. but i guess nokia n80 will sell much because it's more traditional to use than n92. and most probably n80 will be the phone of the year...
okay... okay... you're correct, i had some mistakes...it was a mistake to say that n92 is the most advanced and mistake for those infos i said... but the thing there is whatever feature is in a phone (whether useless or useful) should always be "counted" to its advantages. you should be logical... 2 speakers may only just improve the loudness but you should accept that it's a count over the other. dvb-h maybe useless but should also be counted...
16 million colors from 256k may not be as great as 352 x 416 from 240 x 320 according from you. the point there is a phone's features' advantages is not determined by how a user sees the improvement, but should be determined by how much "technically" it improved. again, 256k to 16M colors improvement may not be seen so much important in ones eye, 240 x 320 to 416 x 352 is then better according from you, but you should take it into a logical way... meaning if the colors increase by 60 times then the resolution must also increase by 60 times in order to be equal(regardless of how our eyes see the improvement.)
and if you don't buy a phone for high quality games, then you shouldn't DISREGARD that advantage of the phone to play high quality games, every feature-which is an advantage should always be counted-whether it's useless or useful for someone,
to determine the counts of features a phone has.
nokia placed the "newest" features (whether good or useless feature) in nokia n92, that's why it has a higher price... nokia spent money in building those "new features"
I don't know what's the meaning of advanced for you... but i only mean that n92 has the newest features, and nokia n80 is nothing new- but has spectacularly improved those old features except for UPNP.
i "GUESS" that n92 is still the more future-oriented phone because it has the newest features, n80 is the "BEST" because of all the powerful improvements it has, i hope you understand my view.
Unless you consider 6680 as a brick, since the p990i is slightly longer than 6680 by a few mm only 8) Saw a photo online putting both phone side by side and not alot differences in term of size.
guys wait for the Nokia N80i, its coming out in november 2006, it has a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, carl zeiss lens, 20 x optical zoom, dvd quality video recording, secondary 1.3 megapixel camera for 3g calls, screen size will be 4 inches by 2.5 inches with 32 million colours, there will be a flash for the camera, vibration will be included even though it has carl zeiss lens, it will have bluetooth version 12.0 and a mini vacuum integrated at the bottom of the phone, the price for the n80i will be approximately 550 euros or £250 or $600
in my opinion the best phone yet from any company - well done nokia- it takes the exeptional picture quality of the n90 and the fantasic features of the n70 and puts them together. it has the modern sliding feature that saves space in your pocket and has a very large for people who might need glasses.i just cant wait for it to come out. If you are lookin to get a new phone wait for this one to come out.
You never know what can happen till the last minute..
Like you said the N91 was held back the last minute. Until now it hasn't come out..
So what I mean is It can happen to the N80 also...
This is a powerful phone!! So they are looking forward for alot of errors and glitches..
Yeah, that's a reasonable solution, but I wish that the N80 with all its outstanding "connecting" features would take in consideration how we move text in and out of the phone with ease rather than making it harder. The size of the N80 is the great thing and I've never been a Crackberry user, but using a stylus on my Palm OS based phone I can write as fast as anyone using a QWERTY keyboard.....and its easy! Thanks!
wclyffe: If you want qwerty theres always the bluetooth keyboard. Or you could get E70 or E61 (both have querty keyboards)
Yeah I think you are right...I just wish it was less of a brick. Thanks!
I think the se p990i would be something which capable to fulfill your needs. It come with both normal phone keypads and a hand writting recognition touch screen, as well as a mini qwerty keypads. I do find it more convenient especially when working with text editing with the stylus than using the keypads on the phone
