I owned this phone for 4 years until it 'died' recently. I can tell you with almost certainty that this was the best smartphone that Nokia has produced till date....
I used it for 'heavy' gaming and internet but still it did its work like an old work horse.
I would sincerely thank the Nokia engineers and Designer for coming up with this phone.. :)
Its a fantastic phone for Internet, Gaming ,as well as it has good sound engine..
N81 is suuuperrrrrr hand set in all time uses phone my carear. Just one problem i see my set it 1 image can many duplicate.
why i cany use video call on this n81.the features says 3G.supposed to it is supported for video calling...
This was my 3rd phone and all previus was from nokia too...but this one made me look for other brand............it gave such horrible purformance.....it just last 1 year........and in the next one year i get tired to repairing it again again..........the slide sucks
The phone has great character and of nice features. But, mine, well not new seems to have problems like not being able to send items from my phone which I was told my phone needs to be flashed. I think when fliped up the phone has to turn on light by itself?
after four years of use, finally it stoped. but as i loved it, i bought it a new one of it again. i am happy from decision and loyal to n81.
A tremendous phone..works for me already 4+ years.
I could event call it a smartphone, cause it has so much hidden features..like copy-paste (hold # button), programs manager (hold menu button), browser quick-bar (hold center button in web browser) and so on.. it's an old school best game-music based phone. One minus - camera, it could be carl-zeinz.
sad to change it, but its was a great phone for 4+ years!
p.s. it had so many extreme - flew times, but it still works, slides like a charm!
My wife owns this phone and although it is old by modern description she refuses to replace it. With the problems that I have had with the Nokia E71, E5 and 5310 I am very much wanting to stay clear of Nokia in future, but I have to give credit where credit is due. This phone is exceptional. Yes it may on the face of it not seem as well put together as the E71 and E5, but hers has fallen so many times and it just keeps going. The sound is tremendous (perhaps because of the dual speakers). The quality of the camera is very good. Her 2mp camera on her N81 kicks my 5mp E5 camera to the curb (something I find quite odd). She has never had any issues with the phone freezing and browsing is good. Now my message to Nokia is this; Why can't we, your loyal customers get this kind of quality in ALL your phones? I can understand my wife not wanting to upgrade or replace as she has said in as much that there is nothing she would rather have. She has seen the issues I have had with my last 3 Nokias and I can't blame her for being cautious. Come on Nokia, pull up your socks, give us more N81 quality and less problem handsets, otherwise you will keep losing market share as loyal customers like myself will vote with their feet
