> In reply to Ankur @ 2008-11-07 09:50 from FYjn You may try to format the phone memory and then the mass memory. When the phone is off take of the battery, put it back. Press simulteniously green (call button), *, and 3. Keeping them firmly pressed, start the phone. Keep the buttons for a bit longer. Release them, the phone will restart. And when it starts again it will be like from the box. Applications, themes, games wont work anymore, so you have to format the mass memory of the phone through the folder Utility. Choose Memory/options/format mass memory. Then you can reinstall all the programs again if you already have them on you pc. Be careful installing aplications, cause some of them can damage your phone. Once i installed the theme on my old nokia 3250, applied it and after the first restart i had a message "system failure" and then white screen. I gave the phone to repare, but noone could fix it. There was a very simple solution that i found out later by myself (i don't know why nobody did that). I just remove the memory card, and the phone restarted with the default theme. Then i went to application manager and removed that damned theme. Since then i install everything on the memory card or a mass memory, never on the phone. Try to format the phone before it boot as i told you, to prevent the programs from causing problems. Even if you install them on the mass memory, they wont work, after you format the phone and it can boot normaly. Hope that helps.

i purchased 8 GB Nokia N81 from Dubai. I am in New Delhi. I hardly used it for one month when suddenly it got blank and its "display" disappeared.I went to an authorised Nokia dealer and submitted them for further investigations. After 15 days it was told to me that it is irreparable. I dont know what to do and where to go. People in our circle say that this model of Nokia didnt work and they have withdrawn it from the market. But i purchased it for a big amount and it didnt work. Can anybody suggest me where to complain.

Hi. I have been using the Nokia N 81 2 GB for over 7 months now and i have come across all sorts of experiences with the phone. I hope many will find this review useful in deciding whether to buy this phone or opt for another model.

The 1st best part of this phone is the slider and the looks. The phone's slider is smooth and a pleasure to use. The screen resolution of 16 million colours is good with crish and sharp clarity pictures and videos. However the phone display could hardly be seen under the sun. This could irritate many. The looks of the phone is awesome and it has a complete cool looks.

The 2GB memory is sufficient for storage of videos, pictures and songs for most of us. In case of an upgrade, the phone can withstand upto 8GB (i am yet to test its working efficiency with a highe memory card). On the other hand, the 2 GB model's phone memory is way too low as a result, the phone's memory can only be used to store contact lists and details.

The gaming zone is too good and the Aspalt racing game is good and gets u to play non stop. The availability of full version n gage games could provide great gaming experience.

The music player works to its class and it is excellent. At times the player fails to add songs and refresh after a USB connection. It is usually back working after a reboot. And another thing i have noticed is that, certain format of mp3 is unrecognised by the music player. The same songs AAC format was recognised and the song played fine.

The battery is good for normal use and with 2 to 3 hours of songs and an hour of call and 30 min of gaming, the battery should last a day. The usual back up is for 2 to 3 days. The charger supplier with the cell is one of the fastest charger i have ever used. All it takes is 2 hours to completely charge a drained battery.

The camera is a low 2MP with zoom 20x zoom feature. Most users might have liked a better camera on the N81. But with Digi cam's around, the 2MP camera should be sufficient for many.

The keypad layout is good and soft to use. Getting used with the keypad is all that is needed for a user friendly use. The navi wheel is good and most users hardly use it. The music player buttons are good and are sensitive.

The phone OS is a Symbian V3, which is very fast during work. The phone works fine when multiple applications are not used. At times on the multiple application mode, the phone freezes. The availability of firmware updation from Nokia is another good news to keeps the phones softwares updated.

Overall, the Nokia N81 is a good phone with lots of features.
