Hi guys! Does N-gage game really work at all on N82? Bcos i only have pre-installed (demo) Fifa 07 on it which was working before but it has stopped working for now.I'm using N82 version 20.0.062. How can get N-gage games on my N82 fully and completely installed? Thanks in advance.

The E90 has a 3.2MP camera lens that doesn't bear a Carl Zeiss label but it beats the 5800's Carl Zeiss camera in image quality hands down. Same holds true for their videos. Thanks to the 3D accelerator.

It has been talked about many times in the forums that it is the hardware accelerator on N93 at the time that made it capable of recording videos in VGA@30fps. But today, VGA@30fps video recording can also be done through software rendering evident on camera phones with poor lens and sensor and hardware platform just like 5800. OMAP2420, which is N82's processor , is capable of VGA@30fps, while the new OMAP3430 Is capable of HD video recording just like OMNIA HD.

> In reply to Subho @ 2009-11-18 08:09 from up2x3D accelerator is used in video encoding and decoding as well. The quality of videos recorded by N93/i, N82, N95/8GB and E90 can prove that. Before, only phones with 3D accelerator like N93/N95 can record videos in VGA@30fps because of the 3D hardware accelerator. But now, phones which don't have this hardware accelerator can also record VGA videos @30fps through software rendering but with noticeably worse quality just like N79, N85 and 5800.

> In reply to Fab @ 2009-11-18 07:03 from wHrqDude the 3d accelerator helps in smooth video playback.it has nothing to do with video quality.the video quality depends upon camera lens and video compression

Very few Nokia phones have a 3D hardware accelerator. In fact, there's only 6 of them, and they are all flagship devices - N93, N93i, N95, N95 8GB, E90, with N82 being the only non-flagship device among the group. Most people think that the 3D accelerator is used only in gaming. But in reality, you are using it too often than you realize. When you are recording a video, watching a video, and taking a picture as well, the 3D accelerator gets these jobs done. Would you believe that the 4-year old N93 records video with higher quality and details than the new N97? There are a lot of H263 MPEG-4 videos that will play with sound but no video on N97, or won't play at all, while most of these videos play smoothly on N82 without problems. That is the job of the hardware accelerator.

> In reply to N79 VS N82 @ 2009-11-17 16:39 from fvVC3D graphics accelerator is not exclusive in gaming only. N82's processor is a complex one. It has an ARM11 application processor, a DSP network processor, PowerVR MBX 3D hardware accelerator used in image/video encoding/decoding. Just compare the videos recorded by N82 and N95 which have a 3D accelerator, and the videos recorded by N79 and 5800 which don't have a hardware accelerator, and the disparity in the quality of their videos is pretty obvious. N82 is a workhorse because of its high performance processor, large amount of free RAM and phone memory and excellent camera performance.

I've just got the N82. It's really a great phone. Very comfortable in hand and to use. Pictures may not be as good as a real camera, but it's good enough for me. And for those who say that xenon flash will come in use ~10 times a year, than speak for yourself. There are plenty of people for who the XENON flash will come in use many more times than that.
And personaly I prefer a XENON flash instead of LED, because LED is just to weak for now. The best alternative solution would be a xenon+led. I think nokia and other phone manufacturers should think about it.

Xenon flash? Well, yes, it helps 10 times a year taking picture in the dark from no more than 3m range, useless for video though.
In average you may get *slightly* better pictures out of the bulk, bit they both are phones still, not cameras.

Anything else? Not really

"Faster menus" is simply *not true*. Switch off fancy transition effects - you'll get exactly as fast menu as N82 is capable of if that's of any importance.

Famous "3D accelerator"? Yeah, right. How many times do you think you used it? Ever used it at all? You just keep it powered all the time.

I *used* (not tried) them both and would choose N79 for superior GPS experience alone, that fnally makes picture geo-tagging useful. Listening to a music/podcasts during 3-5 hours flight and it does not even loose a bar on a battery meter. Automatic SW updates checker on the phone - never need NSU and 100+ MB downloads again. Mechanical keylock switch. FM transmitter, if you drive your own or even use rented cars often (you could even get navigation directions through your car radio!). Sleek, light and pocketable.

I must admit that N79 may not offer enough to upgrade from N82, which is still pretty good phone, but to buy a new - the choice should be obvious.

Been using the nokia n82 for the past 6 months...Its good, except for the button arrangements i think...Sometimes you click on an unwanted key...

Also, for the first 2 weeks i had problems with the tiny buttons of the keypad and now i just text without looking...and the small keys are really convenient lol..

Great phone! great music quality (really loud and clear), camera better than any other i've used. Xeon flash really great for taking pictures at night.

I would give it a good 7.2/10
