The Achilles heel of the N95 is that it has a very fragile component inside that would end up broken even with normal use. When that happens, the phone won't be able to do anything but light up. It won't even make a proper phone call. The N82 will outlive the N95 in terms of durability, and that's one thing that is valued more than what the phone can do.
Anonymous, 15 Jul 2008enough the fight! n82 has an ongoing rivalry with n95/n95 8gb. at the same time, potential buy... moreN82 can do all the things that N95/N95GB can (May be in different way but still it does). Does N95/N95GB take picture like N82 at night? And N95/N95GB lack of shutter of camera which is really needed to protects the lens.
P.S. you don’t understand why we want to claim N82 as the best phone because you don’t have it. Look at the ranking phone on GSMArana by rate on main page then you’ll have your answer.
And I also have N95-8GB and had N95. When people talk about a best phone, they talk about its all qualifications and its prize range that how many people can afford that easily.
Anonymous, 15 Jul 2008enough the fight! n82 has an ongoing rivalry with n95/n95 8gb. at the same time, potential buy... moreits not question of best phone but a question of best value phone..
its just happen that N82 is the best value phone rather than just a best phone
enough the fight! n82 has an ongoing rivalry with n95/n95 8gb. at the same time, potential buyers of n78 will also consider n82 in their choice. so n82 is in between n78 and n95/n95 8gb. n78 is still fresh of the shelves. n95/n95 8gb is already a legend! if you're going to rate the best phone based on sales, n95/n95 8gb despite its price tag is still the best-selling current nseries. n82 is trailing behind. and soon, n82 may outsell n95/n95 8gb because of its very popular candybar form factor. based on features, both phones almost share the same. but it is to the extent of which multimedia department n82 outperforms n95/n95 8gb and vice versa. sure, n82 is the best when it comes to camera, though n82's camera is just the same camera found on n95/n95 8gb. the only differences are xenon flash instead of LED flash, and image processing algorithms. but is n82 as great as n95/n95 8gb when it comes to handling other multimedia like music, video, and even battery life (in the case of n95 8gb here)? n82 may be better than the rest when it comes to taking pics because of its xenon (although you won't be needing that xenon in daylight, and n95 with the latest firmware is better than n82 in taking pics at daylight).......the point is you're all just too focus on camera. try browsing the web, playing/fast forwarding/rewinding a track, playing games, watching movies, composing lengthy text messages and emails, and doing all these stuff to see which of n82, n95 8gb will run out of juice first. trying doing all those things on both devices and let's see which is better. can you play games in n82 in landscape mode? can you skip a song while browsing the web in n82? can you text message conveniently in n82 as you do in n95? how long can you use your n82's features before it runs out of battery? conclusion: n95/n95 8gb is still better than n82.
p.s.: i understand why you want to claim n82 as the best phone because it's your phone. but don't overlook it. it could be the best camera phone but n95/n95 8gb is definitely the best phone!
Anonymous (Rnpf) says, "n82 is for people who are obssessed with a xenon flash and a camera lens cover!"
Dead wrong. The N82 is for people who are passionate about capturing images with quality.
Don't flatter yourself too much by praising your fave superficially. It takes more than the features to appraise anything. Deep inside, your fave has a spine that would inevitably fold and break even with normal use and would render it as a mere brick.
just because the camera is great, it's the best phone already? it's the best camera phone but it's not the best phone! n95 8gb and even n95 are better than n82! there's nothing to rave about n82 actually just camera! i'm not a camera-freak person! n95 8gb is a lot better than n82, and even n95 nam (if not n95-1). n82 is a plain camera phone just like n73, its predecessor. i don't like it. n82 is for people who are obssessed with a xenon flash and a camera lens cover!

N82 wont won as the best camera phone this year if its not worthy. Critics and picture experts made that choice. Lets wait for C905 though but i850 from samsung post a stip competation for next years spot.

you do realise these two phones share basically the exact same components.
i own an n95-1 and i think the n82 is absolutely superb.the n82 probably edges the n95 but the n95 is still a great great phone.
take the 2 year old n95, and put it against the newest sony ericsson.
the n95 wins!
Coming from a K850i owner to an N82. Do you think I will enjoy the N82 more than my K850i?
I appreciate your response. Thank you
Anonymous, 14 Jul 2008n82 is positioned as a "camera phone", read: flagship camera phone! n95/8gb is positioned as a... moreyour arguments bring up hardly any stability.
Your are arguing screen size by .2"-.4", true N95 slightly bigger (slightly). But will be same view quality.
Ok the N95 makes it easier or more convienient for media. But when it's all said and done they both do the same.
You are arguing pennies here.
Whenever u want to buy a phone don’t ask people make ur choice. Ask ur self wat u want & can sacrifice and match those to get ur perfect phone. U may choose style over feature or music over camera or vice-versa. I’m not going to use ur phone or anyobody else. Its ur phone ur need so decide urself or otherwise u might be end up with a phone u don’t like at all. U can & should ask people about the features but not to make ur choice.
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Its simple, wat u want in a phone. There is no perfect phone, so u have to sacrifice something. If ur a nokia lover then here goes -
# Music matters most but camera doesn't as u have ur slr - N81
# Mostly need large screen also a decent camera & good enough music - N95-2 8GB
# Want good camera & good enough music but with an average size screen which is within reasonable price then - N82
Honestly, wat u want & can sacrifice is the choosing metter 4 u or anybody.
flamer (Tkbs) asks, "difference between the silver and black"?
There are some minor differences. The windows for the light sensor and the secondary camera are in circles in the black version, while they are in squares in the silver one. These differences don't affect phone functions, though.
