To serajur: I can tell you one thing, that since the N81 is a slider it is dependent upon a flex cable (which is somewhat homologous to our spinal cord). With normal use of the phone the cable would still tear and break in the future. Bar-shaped phones don't have that, so the N82 wins in that aspect.
To Ankz: Yes, the N82 can handle 8GB micro-sdhc cards. Some service providers (such as O2 for instance) even toss in an 8GB card if you buy your N82 from them. And in theory, the N82 can even handle 16GB and even 32GB micro-sdhc cards once they become available. A 16GB sd card is already being sold so a 16GB micro-sdhc card shouldn't be far behind.
To mANISH: In theory, 32GB cards should work with the N82 but there's no micro-sdhc cards of that size to prove it at the moment. I'm not scared of trying that, though.
To Zubair: You might want to write to Nokia about giving you the option to switch the WLAN Wizard off in future firmware releases, otherwise just stick with the status quo.
To mute the shutter sound, try to create a profile where every alarm sound is switched off and set your phone to that profile whenever you take pictures.
Is it really possible for a hot swap 8gb for n82? because on the manual it only says 4gb?
I don't like the black N82. It's ugly and looks really cheap. The silver N82 looks more classy. I'm beginning to dislike black phones now cos they're starting to become redundant. Nokia please stop painting all your phones black. Can you think of anything else better to put on your phones? The only all-black phones that look stunning for me is N95 8GB, N81 8GB and N91 8GB. See, they're all 8GB! They're the true black beauty. The rest are ugly ducklings! LOL!

To blackshirt_30: It is best to use the Nokia Software Updater to know the latest firmware for your N82, be it the asian or european version.
To zubair: The WLAN scanning tab you find on the Active Standby display can't itself be closed or switched off. You have to switch off Active Standby altogether if you don't want to see it (Tools - Settings - General - Personalization - Standby Mode - Active Standby - Off).
To blackshirt_30: Nokia Maps can be downloaded for free from the N-Series website. There should be a link bookmarked on your phone. You can also download the N-Gage application there, as well as many other applications (such as fring and internet radio) for free. Be warned though that it is best to download through WiFi if you are not availing of unlimited packet data services (3G) from your network because of the costs of downloading.
You may also want to download the geotagging support application for your N82 from http://www.nokia.com/betalabs/locationtagger and the instructions are posted there. It works with the GPS support of the N82 and shows that it isn't limited to the other younger N-Series siblings like the N78.
To Anonymous: No, the xenon flash can't be used as a torch or a flashlight.
what is the layest firmware version in n82?
Nokia N82 (13.01)
