Hi. Got my N82 and I'm loving everything.( accept the keypad:) )
What free gps software can I get for the phone. For example to save my journey so that I can keep track of the routes I've taken.(for mountain biking)
And where can I get them?

Hey Jason, listen up for the real scoop. There is a small red LED on the front that activates during video record. But it is just to indicate that video is being recorded, not to light the scene in darkness. Sure, any light source illuminates in any darkness, but you're not going to get scene illumination of much use. Really, is this a must have for a CELL PHONE, record video in the dark?

I've had one since its release (so I'm an actual user). Yes, as you've read, it has gobs of features. But... First, the documention is maybe 1/10th what is needed for such a sophisticated phone. Next, you can't use the features when you can't read the screen, which you can't do when the backlight turns off automatically after at most 1 minute (lol for a phone call over 1 minute, gee). Sometimes the keypad unlocks automatically (e.g. when the camera is on), sometimes not (when an alert beeps), but who knows since there is no documentation on this, over than you taking and carrying copious notes and note cards with you. Oh, and the lack of page at a time screen scrolling (yes, it's true) will annoy trying to scroll through such as maps (or maybe there is BUT IT IS JUST NOT DOCUMENTED!).

So buy it, enjoy it, gripe about it.

P.S. the camera is (usually) great!

I see many people using N95 8Gb, but have still not see anyone using a N82. I suppose they are not selling so well, not because of the features which are great, but because of the huge size of the phone. That is only my guess....

This phone only have Xenon Flash rite?
How can it take video at dark places?
Xenon Flash cannot stay on over 1 second or else it will burst rite?
Or does it have a in built LED light for Video Recording at nite?
Appreciate if you guys can help to answer my question. Thank you in advance :)

Maybe 04}f bought some other phone and is now sour graping, a K850 perhaps?. Maybe his other phone simply is inferior compared to N82. Too bad, he found this out only later that N82 is unbeatable!

Come off it Brynn! The keypad on the N82 is terrible! It is not so much the shape of the keys but more the lack of tactile feedback when you press the key. This makes it difficult to type quickly. You crosscheck what you've typed and often find that glaring mistakes have been made because of non-response of the keys.
The best Nokia keypad I've ever used has to be the N93. So comfortable, so tactile. I can type at speed with the N93. Yet something is still missing. That something is a QWERTY. You see T9 predictive text typing has serious limitations:
1)You cannot type in the vernacular language.
2)T9 guesses words so one has to continuously check whether T9 has guessed correctly which delays typing eg the words "share"
"shape" and "phase" are all typed the same way. One must now choose.
3)If one is literate in a language, words can be spelt quickly and accurately without necessarily having to be in the T9 dictionary.

So all said and done I have to say that I wish Nokia had a QWERTY version of this phone to make text input easier. The design could be a slide-out like HTC TyTN II. Just as long as they do not compromise the N series features eg 5MP cam, camcording at VGA; 30fps; WiFi etc

Ladies & Gents,
It is really very unusual for me to share in such voting... but I wodered I may be helping some body with my experince gained through selecting my new phone.
Being a field engineer who urgently needs all the options together as well as having a reliable heavy duty phone with no afraids of mechanical or sliding problems I am happy to tell you that I spent 1 week to decide finally that N-82 is the best, relaible & full services mobile in the market right now.
please feel free to e-mail me asking about the mobile you may need according to the options you request .... I studied them all...
thanks... Ahmed Samy
