I was expecting it for more than 2 months. When it finally arrived, i found where to sell my old phone (N73 ME), and went to get it. It sure has all the expected tons of features + gps/wifi + great quality lens,
(here's my own "but") i found out N82 isn't exactly as it seemed. Its hard plastic makes it look quite "cheap" and casually made, not to mention that it made me feel like it's more cumbersome than it really is.
The great disappointment of all though concerned its display. The N82 display, despite its 16.7 million colors, doesn't deserve its place among the Nseries phones. Of course, it's a lot better than any $100-cellphone display, but it is quite unsatisfactory if you compare it to any of the n95, n81, even n73 displays. I indeed saw it live next to both the versions of n95, and both the versions of n81 (so I had the chance to confirm my above points of view). I was checking the phone, its menus, its whole deal for about 15 minutes, till i got irreversibly disappointed (for an Nseries phone). It's important for all of you not to stick with the internet's n82 photos - go see it live somewhere. Then you'll get my point.
I was expecting it for 2 months. I finally didn't buy it. I'd rather stick with my n73ME, which has better display and quite good camera and storage. I keep believing though that the N95-8gb is the best phone of its class (but i can't afford it)...
To all N82 users:
if you haven't install pyPiwo application yet on your silver snapper then click this link before weekend comes. http://symbian-freak.com/news/..._py_piwo.htm Cheers everyone! Thanks to symbian-freak.
If I had to ditch my phone or my camera I would ditch the camera. I mean, it doesn't do much. I don't know anyone that carries a digital camera around as an EDC. I always carry my wallet, knife, and phone wherever I go, and those three items have become my Every Day Carry for the past 3 years. I don't have room for one more device, and I think most people fall into the same category. You make a valid point, but the fact is this phone can replace a digital camera for MOST people.
ok folks here is the unbiased truth about this phone (n82).....
i have owned it for 2 months and yes, it is the best mobile on the market today, no doubt. no other handset even comes close to it in terms of functionality, camera, etc.
and if you dont like to carry a digital camera, mp3 player, sat nav on you as seperate devices this is the mobile for you.
BUT.......(and here's my point)
although it has the best camera and functions etc. i believe it is better to carry a seperate stand alone digital camera and just get a simpler, more reliable, faster phone cos even this great camera cant compare to a stand alone digital camera
plz dont start slating me now, i just gave my opinion
A great freware youtube player:
The SE R306 is the exact opposite of the Nokia N82! This has tons of features and the SE has NONE! lol
If a touchscreen phone that had yhe N82's functions would exist it would certenly be a best seller... At least i would buy it!
@one who said 6233 looks cheap
u r really cheap man do u want Nokia to make mid range phone just like "VERTU" i had 6233 for last 15 months it is one of the best Nokia Phone just like my N82 and also N73 is not louder than 6233 the only phone which is louder than 6233 is Music king N81
Got the N82 for ONLY 4 DAYS and problem start to appear, SLOW, HANG....send in Nokia service centers and they need 3 DAYS to repair it, really regret to buy it! somebody are right,"N82 CRAP phone", trust me, dont buy it.
n82 loudspeaker is not as loud as in n95 but nervertheless its still good specially with earpones.
n82 housing/casing is made from hard aluminum i think (i cant really tell) faceplate front and back are made from hard plastic, i think housing/casing of n82 can be change or replace just like almost all nokia phones whis is good specially wen u drop or scratch ur unit, a good quality housing/casing can be a good replacement just hope they dont make fancy housing/casing with desing that make the unit cheap lol
i get n82 but i think its sound is lower than n95
thats right or i have problem
something to ask.. is the casing/cover of this phone made up of metal(aloy) or plastic?
Wish the d-pad was thicker. Thumb can cramp up since it hits edge. Would prefer joystick or nav wheel. Pressing #2, 4, 6, n 8 helps a bit for the net. I do like the one-hand browsing. iPhone cant achieve this. A thinner width is often overlooked vs a thinner depth. Just adding themes and a ton of animated pix from HoFo as screensavers. Still luv it. So many ways to customize an S60.
thanks for the info. will try it today. however, hope it works as im from asia and they say the firmware is not available for asian handsets... gee what a rip off.
there are a lot of heroes here who lambasted the N82. i wonder if they even own the N82?
pathetic. the only other forum i went to was the 6233 and i had nothing but good things for the phone, although it was super ugly but it was durable and sturdy. i use that now as my 2nd phone.
have a nice day all
A few notes before updating your firmware:
1. Backup your phone memory using Content Copier
2. Restore your phone data/settings after the update since the application shortcuts will be deleted even if the you installed them in the memory card.
Note: UDP seems to work now and unlike in my previous Nokia S60 software updates stuff such as text messages, contacts, custom settings and even downloaded themes remained on my N82 after the update so there's no need for reinstallation of themes and apps as well as restoration of other files.
