Kabayan, I am now running on firmware version 11.0.177. So far so good.
A few notes before updating your firmware:
1. Backup your phone memory using Content Copier
2. Restore your phone data/settings after the update since the application shortcuts will be deleted even if the you installed them in the memory card.
Note: UDP seems to work now and unlike in my previous Nokia S60 software updates stuff such as text messages, contacts, custom settings and even downloaded themes remained on my N82 after the update so there's no need for reinstallation of themes and apps as well as restoration of other files.
Kabayan! I do have the latest version of software updater on my pc. Everytime I run the application on my laptop its says device is not supported lolz I was even able to update the firmware of my friend's N92 on my laptop. That is kinda weird really.
Kabayan! V11 is already available on our product code. I tested it the other day and it shows the new version, but i don't upgrade it, i usually let the Nokia Service Center do it for me. Maybe you don't have the latest Nokia Software Updater on your pc.
I owned an N95 8GB for 53 days and frankly despite efforts to match the picture output quality of the N82. I sold my N95 8GB and got an N82 and I have n regrets whatsover. I think your rating of 9 for the N95-2's pic output is too high. Even an 8 would be generous already. No doubt the N82 owns the cameraphone crown as of the moment.
Again, I am basing my comments on actual experience not online reviews. ;)
As for the firmware version 11.0.177 for the N82 it is not available yet to Asian versions and is limited to European-made versions. That's too bad coz Nokia has been screwing Asian users for quite some time now and in fact even the latest firware for the N95 8GB was limited to Euro versions only as well. :(
to duke i have n95 8gb its greate
This the best phone for pic & video and greate battery
All you N82 owners there some new firmware or software available now for the N82 on the Nokia website so go an get it now,i got offered the N82 on a 18 month contract for free but i asked for 12 month one an they want £170 for the mobile,so i will wait till either the price is lowered or the new handsets from Nokia become available as before xmas we saw some photos of the N96 but we do not know if was a fake or real
btw the defualt network of the phone wen i bought it was 3g and i changed it to gsm cos in forum it says that it will save battery life, but eversince i changed it my maps sumtimes freezes, does it have sumtin to do with it, maybe gprs is too slow to load gps maps? any idea guys? i wish u could help me out here thnx..
hi guys can any1 help me out my phone freezes wen i execute maps icon, i know its doin sumtin in background cos i got the connection icon below signal bar can any1 help me to solve this annoying situation HELP IS MUCH APPRICIATED..
Anyone know how to get rid of the "Show Message" option and just show the text message when I receive a text? It's annoying to have to hit Show Message every time. Can't find a setting that disables this..
and i don't like sliders cause it will going to have an issue in the long run for it's sliding mechanism. i think the best slider maker is motorola. they're always spot on.
so waht if n958gb is the first DNLA certified mobile?!
it doesn't make my n82 any less different than it was when n958gb was not yet certified by DNLA.
and frankly, even if the world sayz n82 has got the ugliest of designs, worst keypad, plasticky casing..etc..etc..etc..it doesn't change my opinion or admiration one bit on m' n82 esse.
heck, what if DNLA certifies NOKLA 850 coz it has dual BT,analog tv, and inexpensive... are u gonna throw off ur n958gb outda window and get urself a NOKLA 850??
lovin mah n82 to bits...
the few|the proud
hello? N73's speaker is way louder than 6233. and not to mention much better quality. it would not be name music edition for nothing..
As good as Nokia 6233's speaker? You're not serious, right?
The 6233's best asset is its speakers. No other phone, whatever brand, can beat 6233's speakers. Motorola E398 is second.
This phone's strength comes from its camera. N91 has the BEST audio quality. I personally believe that N95 8GB is the BEST all-rounder phone available in the market, as it is the FIRST DNLA certified mobile phone!! Not N82, not N95, but N95 8GB!
finally my phone doesnt freeze anymore dunno why but after 3 freezes it suddently stoped maybe os got used to wat im doin to it lol, anyways does ur phones housing fits tightly? mine got a bit of a gap to its sides well not a big problemo just wanna ask if we got same fit, hehe ill just put crystal case to my phone to protect it and make it really intack, new fw doesnt make huge changes just a few bugs and freezes issue, maybe ill upgrade wen it has full fixes or sumtin like that..
does anyone have a link to the latest firmware? i cannot find it anywhere!
oh wait.. it's been linked four times already...
New firmware is available:
Yes, the N82. The current top-of-the-line-super-camera-phone that everybody's craving. Refined powerful features and with the addition of the Xenon flash, it can seriously own other camera phones. The Symbian OS has proven itself once again to be the king of operating systems.
But there's one thing that I am bugged with. No, it's not the phone, but this thread. Many people here antagonize other phone brands like Sony Ericsson, Samsung, and the brand most susceptible to bashing anytime and anyplace, Motorola. I don't know why you hold such a grudge on the other brands...it's not very friendly at all and is very insulting. This is becoming more of a "mobile race discrimination" not only here in this thread but also beyond GSMArena. I really hope that we can learn from this and be less biased and be better persons. I am a Motorola fan and I'm battling bashers with facts, not fallacies. And even though I'm a Moto fan, I still have high respects for the other brands. I accept my brand's strengths and failures and acknowledge other brand's achievements as well.
Hope this helps.
