@ albertchong... Yes it is compatible to view office documents. If you want to edit the documents you would need to purchase and update a new version with edit function. This whole process is done entirely on the phone.
Its the same with Nokia GPS. You would need to subscribe and download the navigation feature. I believe that this is fair.
Nothing in life is free. Why would this be any different? Whats you view on this. Also, note some or most of the Nokia software is subjected to fees. This is due to the fact is 3rd party and not even developed by Nokia themselves. Hell Symbian is even another company.
@ Y'all!! N82 better than all the rest!!IMHO!
@ Jo23... Did you update the firmware? after receiving it? I'm guessing not. I believe you had a really bad experience. How can the warranty be void after 3/4 months!!! Was it pre-owned??? Nokia offer up to 2 years warranty when new... well at least here in Europe. If you had bought it and you weren't satisfied by say within the 4 weeks you can send it back to the retailer, if not! you should have got it repaired from an authorized Nokia retailer. If you didn't send it to an authorized dealer for repair the fault is yours, Not Nokia and hence the voiding of your handset.
I haven't had one crash on my phone and guess what!!! I've had it for 2 months now!! I got one of the first batches here in Sweden. Made from over the Baltic waters in Finland! Your experience is unfortunate but the blame cannot be solely on Nokia.
hi..can any user of N82 tell me that, is this phone compatible with excel and word file. can we edit ?
"The cam is good for like background pix but upclose pix it's not exactly good".
Use the Close-Up mode feature. ;)
Do you realize how many units of cellphones come out of Nokia factories every day? How many satisfied Nokia users are out there globally? Does one, two, three or even one thousand cases of bricked phones, buggy OSes mean Nokia is a such a bad brand?
Frankly from an IT person and a businessman's perspective your views aren't conclusive. It does not mean that if your sister's phone gives up on her it already means that Nokia is such a poor manufacturer. Even in IT there is no such as thing as perfection. Units go over strict QC but it cannot be avoided for some to appear as lemons. From the experience of my very own friends SE phones die by the ratio of 4:5 meaning 4 out of 5 units they have owned either end up dead or defective. I seriously doubt that is the case with Nokia.
Let us not forget that is a user review/opinion thread not a Nokia bashing thread so non-Nokia users and haters should not utilize this thread as if its their very own venue for lashing back at Nokia. N82 users must share both their bad and good experiences here that's all or people can even inquire about its features here.
Again, this is not an ani-Nokia forum. If you hate Nokia so much send them millions of emails everyday but please avoid using this thread as rant thread. Thanks a lot for your cooperation.
I bought a N82 a week ago.The cam is good for like background pix but upclose pix it's not exactly good.music is pretty good too.keypad takes sometime to get used to.
not to offend any nokia fans out there.
i just wanna say to new users of Nokia or SE and samsung users swtching to Nokia fones
"DONT EXPECT A LOT"!! their fone are still hav the same capabilities as ur old fones, dont act like hayeenas hungry for meat "specs" and do things u wanna do, i tell u ther's always a limit.., suddenly u realize after 1mont of usage ur nokia fone break down and thats all ur fault no one to be blame. again i just wanna share my expirience here at home not offending nokia user i my self is a nokia user too
(and not satisfied too..)
Question: Is there an option in this phone (N82) where you could set the Xennon light to a steady ON when taking video or picture?
>story of my sis.
my sis have n73 for four months and when my older sis see the new fone of my young sis she imidiatly bought same fone, they were impressed of the cam. and user capabilities and they just want to shot pictures and texting "period" they dnt knw how 2 install OS or 3rd party applications EVEN using the 3G capabilities nothing!! i told my self what a waste of money...
but after 3 - 4 months of usage!! BOOOM!!! its started to malfunction everything from power "on" to texting, saving pictures and lots of 'em. and they still no applications installed only 20mp3 file in their so called "2gb" of memry and the worst of all Nokia Care "void" the warranty of the phone. we realy dnt knw what happen, the same thing happend 2 my older sis "exactly" the same thing and yet NO! 3rd prty application or what ever things and they realy take care of their things especialy they'r girls...
But knw both of them have move on my older sis swtch to u700 and my young sis with my nokia6101 and both of them are planning to sue Nokia bout their products and the warranty void they make on their fones...
I have the ericsson production, I still can call even the barr almost empty.
this is a fantastic phone i noticed and i seeing this will become much nearer in PC based applications, not as 3G phone but it includes the expanded entertainment media too, this device may come at very handy and compact
@Nokia recycler (stuxxx ELEPHANT)
u r SE owner than u might be knowing while playing high birates song on any SE phone they got stuck some time making sound gurr.... This never happend with my any Nokia some time in SE phones fails to save photo even Though camera is active this never happen with Nokia S40v3/5 also you cant make phone phone call when singnal bar is less than 3 where as Nokia attempts phone call even at 1 bar.
If u r Samsung or Moto fan than i think there is no need for comparison as every one knows about there poor battery, music, there useless UI etc.
The phone is great just that It's got a small flaw/bug. If you put a contact's no, say mobile no as default, it will appear when the person calls.
However if the person calls from his home, (home phone is recorded in the contact as well, but not default) you can't see the person's name. Is there a way to solve this?
u r so stxxid even Nokia's low end phone can keep gif, swf, jpeg etc as a wallpaper as far as battery concern Nokia has best battery in the world do u own w700i, W550i, W850i, P990i etc they all have average battery considering fact that there is No mind blowing features like Nokia have you own 6233, N73, or any low end phone they last atleast 3 days even though they have power hungry features
i think who r saying it bad they dnt have choice the best cell phone in india the best camera better than n95 also n the varst cell is nokia 6500 slideri sold it in 7 days dnt even think to buy 6500slider n82 is osame i will give it 9/10 n 6500 only3/10 n other option n81 i will give it a 7/10 beleve me i m awarm of mobile i only use a cell phone for a month maximum so i knw
i consider this device a mini computer with camera and phone features lol,
sony phones are just phones nothing more :(
Those of you who complain and whine about hanging and freezing on Nokia S60 phones let me just reiterate that in most cases it is caused by installed 3rd party applications and not the OS itself. I have been using Nokia Symbian phones for a very long time now and that has been the case so juts be careful in installing 3rd party applications. I have had several freezing and restarting issues in the past but I am not complaining at all. Why is that? I prefer to use isolated freezing/restarts over a dead phone just like in the case of SE phones. I have a number of friends who are complaining time and again regarding their SE phones bet it high end or entry level.
Please accept the fact that Nokia is not the No.1 cellular phone manufacturer in the world for nothing. As I have been mentioning here time and again Nokia will give you many many years of satisafaction than any other cellular phone manufacturer out there.
Let us leave personal preference and fanboy rants in our closets. Nokia's N82 is a true winner with outstanding features and performance.
perfection of a mobile phone comes from the user themselves. if you're expecting too much on every phone from these manufacturers that have come up with...disappointment is always at hand. be happy and content of what it CAN do and not to drool on the things that it CAN'T. i own NOKIA N73 ME and i'm way satisfied with it. i don't expect it to do wonders but it does things pretty remarkably. then i can say it's 'perfect'.
@ Roger... Lets make it even more simple for you... Why is market sales so low in comparison to Nokia. Or even why did Ericsson sold it mobile division to Sony!!! Errmmm yeah it can't compete. I live Sweden home of Ericsson and I can tell its not doing as good you think. Nuff said! I mean you state some so trivial "wallpaper" OMG!!! please can you please define the word "Wallpaper" in the english dictionary. And regarding batteries someone will develop a high capacity battery. Theres even a 1800mh battery for N95.
@ the recylcer. Why don't you go to garbage and find yourself some tramp. What are you basing you information on BTW. DO you own this handset. Have you ever reviewed this handset for 1 month or so. Before, quoting your nonsensical information based on handsets that you obviously recycle or never own. Please substantiate your findings with actual personal experience and proof. And note: This phone has not crashed in the 2 months I've had this. I'm sure most owners would agree!
