I did calculations on a DOF calculator for a 1/3" sensor. on f/2.4 your min focusing distance is 3", at F/4,8 the minimun focusing distance is 2.4"....Big deal!

SE IDOU is of a higher class and not even worth mensioning here because N86 is simply not targeted to the market intended for SE IDOU which is the high end or for those that "can afford".

show me a piece of photo capt... moreHere are you again... sampled photo, sampled photo. You are giving a great disservice to Nokia with your justification. Do not justify Nokia with its weak point, do you understand?
This 12MP thing of SONY is already world-renowned. Justify Nokia with its strong point... is that clear to you now?

But what this anonymous guy from "Sff9" was talking was that it is not all about apertures, most phones may have fixed fully opened apertures but they do have auto focus and their imagers are much more high-res.
You may have a perfectly focused subject because you can stop down your aperture to increase dept-of-field but if your imager is low-res, your perfectly focused subject will not be sampled as high-res because of your low-res imager.
N86 slapped the se idou so se fans come here critic n86 badly
show me a piece of photo captured by sony ericsson idou
don't just used word to said it quality is the best

When nokia fanboyz had nothing new to talk about as nokia had nothing new to offer except some old packed junk, now the nokia fans are comparing other brands with SE, but what ever brand you talk about SE technology is much advanced. SE = “would Soon Expire nokia & rest of the brands”.nokia is ńow reałły really borińg
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970What was that? Fixed aperture? Wide angle lens? What has that to do with picture clarity? It may contribute but that is not all about aperture, aperture only controls the amount of light entering the imager. Do you understand what you are mumbling?
I am not a fan of either phones by SE and Nokia, but seeing somebody sowing wrong infos is not correct.
Friend, if I were you, do not justify Nokia with the lens you are mumbling because that will make Nokia down because SONY has its own proprietary lens that is unmatched to date, it is this... "IU060F" lens module with 12.25 effective megapixel resolution equipped with lens and auto focus functions, this module is the industry's smallest and thinnest in their class.
OK friend, did I make myself clear to you?
I may repeat, do not justify Nokia with your lens that is not made by Nokia because it is a GREAT DISSERVICE TO NOKIA, YOU ARE UNKNOWINGLY BRINGING NOKIA DOWN.
I think i know why nokia is no 1 phone. U just look at this forum and be a evidence that so many phone lover and different type people at this forum. Nokia is very popular to them and it would be a free advertising.
Anonymous, 05 Mar 2009Actually you are very wrong. The lens has a very minor effect compared to the post processing ... moreYou are absolutely right... with these very tiny phone lenses, at this moment in time nothing can be done about it, different technologies are still in the drawing board using different mediums in place of glass that includes different kinds of fluids in place of glass.
The battle for supremacy at this moment in time is in the digital processing of images and that starts from the front end which is the sensor, SONY wins handily at this stage with their first 12MP sensor to be used in the SE IDOU. The chipsets hardware and firmwares that process the digital 0-1 from the sensor is a free for all including softwae and hardware giants and you may wonder that phone makers are just buying it from OEMs except a few who have their own proprietary chipsets and firmwares including SONY.
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970And then? what do we do now? This is an N86 page not Ido or Idoit reverse of Id*ot.. go post it in the SE garbage page not here loser..
WTF? u see iphone(BC phone haha) got touch screen? this phone? noooo touch screen.. :p
don't buy SONY ERICSSON IDOU , not worth
12MP with FIXED APERTURE-F/2.8
compare to N86 various aperture
it got various aperture - F/2.8,F/3.2,F/4.8
it got a wide-angled carl zeiss optics
and tessar lens
the white one looks pretty cool actually. It's a little wider than it should be. If you wanna talk ugly, talk Nokia E75 (gawd what are those at Nokia thinking). But the 8meg camera is quite promising. The ratings for this phone is a little cruel in my opinion.
ok. I made a mistake. Carl Zeiss doesn't even make or design their lense for the Maxxum , EF, K, and F mounts. Cosina in Japan does. So what chance does Nokia have of Carl Zeiss actually designing Nokia's lenses?
That leaves Zeiss to do medical products (Glasses), for-order products such as the 1200mm F4.0 and their Zeiss Ikon Rangefinder lineup. So where do the other prodcuts fit in? (Nokia's lenses are not better than the Cosina lenses... trust me)
mi6lethaltool, 05 Mar 2009This Phone its all about the lense and Shutter Sony E can put 20 MG Pix if they could and the ... moreActually you are very wrong. The lens has a very minor effect compared to the post processing (Only applies to P&S and camera phones. Higher end stuff gets MUCH better glass). Processing the JPEG and the noise reduction and focusing on processing algorithms are a better use of R&D than creating a tiny lens.
Common, so back to NOKIA stuff. If you want to bash SE... well don't do it. If SE fans want to bash Nokia... well don't do it. If a nokia fan wants to talk about the n86.. the ndo it! If an SE fan wants to talk about IDOU in the IDOU thread.. do it!
