The battery is fine, i don't know y every1 is complaining abt it, especially pepsi, who apparently knows everything abt mobiles. "Epic failure" is a bit much, i think.
Ok it says it has an accelormeter or whatever, but when ever I see a video of it, the person has to slide down the multimedia buttons. What's up with that?
@ gsm arena
please make reviews on the major drawbacks such as the durability, malfucntioning interface and various other problems with this phone, rather than just saying its the best of the best
I will get another one from Rogers(can) to confirm if most or all of the phones not that great.
I bought the Rogers(Canada) N95 8GB, this phone freezes so often that the phone will restart itself, if you pres any button or function twice before the phone responds it will restart. This particular phone sucks and please pardon my disapproval, i had high hopes B4 i got this phone, its possible that it its a problem with the handset and not all the phones i am in the process of returning it to Rogers
If the phone didn't freeze it would be a great phone there some applications will not work because the phone inability to process and execute, but the ones that work pretty well (WLAN,Camera, bluetooth, internet(on wifi)) all work well.
bad after use 1-2 week...loose
hi please can you tell me if the slider mechanism on the n95 8gb is good or not?
many of these phones are comming with a manufacutres faulty camera. i prefer not to buy this phone, instead a nokia n81 8gb is better.
filipinas has a point.
like me. from nokia 6600, i jumped to N95 and needs to rely on the manual. believe me, i have no idea how to use its WLAN and configure some of its setting so I go by the manual. maybe some of you don't read the manual since you are familiar with its UI but for those people who is noob like me, i need to read it and google some of my queries.
thanks for the heads up filipinas =)
I am a user of Nokia, i agree that Nokia's phones built quality is bad, joints will be loose just after few months of usage..plastic quality is bad compared to Sony Ericsson's phones..in my opinion Nokia's plastic feels kinda cheap looking too.....and Nokia's S60 OS....full of bugs...hangs and restarts occasionally.
The n95 8gb is actually 400.00 right now on a 3 year vision plan with rogers. You have to pay for the extra stuff vision gives you!
Just to clear up the GPS questions.
NO. You don't need a subscription, or even a sim card!
GPS is just a stand alone receiver unit built into the phone.
Paying a subscription would be the same as paying to listen to your FM radio!
The signals are sent from the orbiting satellites (you need to receive at least 3 for a good position fix), and the time it takes for the signal to reach your receiver is calculated for each signal received.
So in summary - no subscription needed - no internet needed - not even a sim card is needed for GPS use (SIM needed for A-GPS).
This is the primary reason that I've bought the phone (updating from N73, N82 screen too small).
N96 touchscreen?
BTW - price is $580 USD in Cambodia from the official Nokia showroom in Phnom Penh.
What's the best way to clear water damage from it?
I believe it's under the slider - doesn't effect it greatly, but it does stuff up the screen at times.
@ Filipinas
No, no I don't speak English and clearly I don't understand it
You actually READ manuals? I didn't think anyone did... Which is why no one knows how to use a phone they pay so much for. I would think that maybe that is the reason your battery lasts so long if you did indeed read the manual and followed instructions, perhaps a poll would furthur confirm this.
However I don't think anyone else has ever bothered to read manuals and least of all follow instructions.
@PEPSI..
yah right? do you speak nor understand english? i said im lucky because my battery lasts that long..
its like buying a new car, not everyone can attain its topspeed in same model/engine, it depends on how they "break it in".. when i bought my phone i charge it the way it use to as the manual said..
now, im enjoying my phone for how many days without worries about the battery life..
hope you get the point..
ciao...
i bet the people who bought the 8gb long time ago are happy realizing that others can buy its at rogers for like 250-300 with contract. let the price slope begin.
