Downgrading the camera and processor for presence of 16Gb and DVB-H yet pricing this phone so high is not a good marketing move. The price of this phone should be around 500 dollars only and not 750 dollars because the only thing it has over N95 8GB is the 16Gb and DVB-H. 16Gb microSDHC cards now cost only 65 dollars. They have added 2 not so revolutionary chips in N96 but in turn they downgraded the camera and processor. N96 has the worst 5 megapixel camera among all Nokia phones. And it's also the most sluggish among all FP1 and FP2 phones.
what's with the ARM 9 264 mhz CPU? Thatta make this handset one hell of a slow poke... Yeah yeah I know it's done on purpose to save battery life... They could have just raised the batt capaciy rather than equipping it with a slow processor.. Now thatta make this phone crap... The one used in the so old N73 is arm 9 220.. This differs only by a bit!
sonia, 05 Oct 2008I really dis agree with all the users who give negative feedback on the phone or the nokia com... morei disagree with you.
why would u released an unfinish phone?
full of bugs. the fact that they have all the time in the world to make this phone better.
then they just released it full or errors and bugs. what the??
just for money making??
anyways, business is business but how will you gain the loyalty of your consumer when all comes in your mind is making money rather than making a masterpiece.
Ausmn.Complete Multimedia Package........Must buy product of Nokia.
nokia n96 is finally released here in dubai. it currently costs AED3,100 or PHP37,000, while samsung innov8 16gb costs AED2,900 or PHP35,000, and samsung innov8 8gb costs AED2,650 or PHP32,000. i can't believe n96's price is higher than samsung innov8! n96 is already outdated. it should start selling at a cheaper price.
Anonymous, 05 Oct 2008ya you can get a n96 (made in Finland) in ksa but its costlier than n96 made in china how much does it cost bro?
i checked the price here in ksa...it's sr3,000 made in china. how about the finland made? any idea?
brote, 05 Oct 2008hey dude, did u already owned one? i checked the stores here in ksa but it's all made in china... moreya you can get a n96 (made in Finland) in ksa but its costlier than n96 made in china
brote, 05 Oct 2008hey dude, did u already owned one? i checked the stores here in ksa but it's all made in china... moredude c", i dont own one yet, my N82 Black is like 2 months old and i want to enjoy it first before shifting. i was waiting for the device to drop price also and it will drop to $599 (Php28,000) in due time, right now it cost at around (Php32,000-34,000) here.
most of the Nokia devices here in the Philippines were China made and their is nothing wrong with China made Nokia because they have same Quality Control that of Finland made. Its Nokia's very own factory but situated only in China.
iolo003, 05 Oct 2008i will trade the 8MP for DVB-H because 8MP is nothing but a marketing ploy. you really dont us... morehey dude, did u already owned one? i checked the stores here in ksa but it's all made in china. did u got the finland made?i'm also a filipino, by the way.
The firmware pre-installed in N96 when you bought it is full of bugs. This is the only Nseries phone released that comes with the most buggy first firmware version. The N78 pre-installed firmware, though buggy also, is still better than N96 firmware. I think Nokia has not yet finished the firmware yet they rushed in releasing this phone right away just to earn money. That's a shame! Performance-wise, N95 8GB is so much better than this. N96 does not deserve the title as N95 8Gb's successor. The only thing that this phone can boast is the 16Gb memory and the useless DVB-H. This phone is a total disaster. It only looks good on paper but it's actually horrible when you start to use it.
I really dis agree with all the users who give negative feedback on the phone or the nokia company.. i don't understand why someone should give negative feedback, as long as it's your money u first check the phone features and then buy, just don't blame the moment you didnt like the phone, company releases any kind of phones, but it should be our decision to think and then buy rather blaming this way.. i feel it's foolish ness on blaming on someone when you do foolish work.. I would still thank NOKIA on releasing good phones which is mind blowing and fantastic.. we are still here to support you.. thanks...
derek, 05 Oct 2008WOULD I SWAP AN 8MP CAMERSA FOR DVB-TV? At least the camera would be usable. The dvb-tv is use... morei will trade the 8MP for DVB-H because 8MP is nothing but a marketing ploy. you really dont use your camera often, unless you have nothing else to do with your life or if your a photographer who wants to print life size picture, total a waste of money.
DVB-H is available here in the Philippines and we are LUCKY enough to have it! oh yeah!
There is nothing new in this phone,
the battery is a let down too.
The design is far from impressive.
It is heavily overpriced.
In fact the 5800 express music seems far more impressive in features and in battery, also it is not overpriced............
Dani, 04 Oct 2008Well it depends on the person choosing it, would you swap the DVB-TV for an 8MP in the INNOV8 ... moreWOULD I SWAP AN 8MP CAMERSA FOR DVB-TV? At least the camera would be usable. The dvb-tv is useless in the uk until someone actually starts transmitting something. This application is a chocolate fire-guard-totally useless.
Anonymous, 05 Oct 2008no naviwheel, cif 15fps video only, very slow processor, low capacity battery, smaller camera ... moreno. n95 8gb is much better than this one.
now it's clear that nokia just want to make large sum of money selling this unfinish and under-develop product to us.
anyway. i'll go for nokia n85. i think but i hope as well, it's not like this phone.
no naviwheel, cif 15fps video only, very slow processor, low capacity battery, smaller camera lens, worse picture quality, this is not an upgrade, this is a downgrade from n95 8gn!
