Nokia N96 almost official?
Nokia may as well be in for a major announcement with the highly debated Nokia N96 making a quick in and out on the official Nokia Germany website. Blunder or well thought out teaser, the full specs of Nokia N96 blinked briefly on nokia.de and then went off.
Pictures featured in this article are borrowed from the first N96 leak back around Christmas.
If we're to trust the leaked specs, Nokia N96 is all about crucial upgrades. There's quad-band GSM and dual-band HSDPA support on the Nokia N96, which runs on S60 3rd edition FP2. It sports a vast 2.8" 16M-color QVGA display and 16GB onboard memory, that's microSD expandable. 128MB RAM and 256 MB ROM complete the set.
Nokia N96 carries a heavy multimedia load, including a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with Carl-Zeiss optics and dual LED, as well as integrated Geotagging support. Other goodies in the multimedia sector are the TV-Out in SDTV resolution and DVB-H receiver, on top of the multimedia stuff of Nokia N95 8GB.
The kick stand allows the phone to lay on its side • The camera is equipped with a dual LED flash
Nokia N96 offers a built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS support, Wi-Fi with UPnP/DLNA support and Bluetooth. Wired connectivity is courtesy of the 3.5mm headphone jack and microUSB slot.
One of the obvious shortcomings is the feeble Li-Ion BF-5L battery with capacity of 950mAh. Nokia N96 weights 125g, and is a tad taller than Nokia N95 8GB, the other dimensions pretty much on par.
