Apple today announced that users have now downloaded over three billion iPhone and iPod touch applications from the company's App Store since its July 2008 launch.
"Three billion applications downloaded in less than 18 months -- this is like nothing we've ever seen before," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "The revolutionary App Store offers iPhone and iPod touch users an experience unlike anything else available on other mobile devices, and we see no signs of the competition catching up anytime soon."
With the App Store having reached two billion downloads just over three months ago, the new milestone represents continued acceleration of growth for the store as Apple's handheld devices continue to attract significant numbers of customers. The App Store continues to be available to customers in 77 countries, offering applications in 20 categories.
When you flip the keyboard, you have to apply more force just to do it. Also when I flipped the keyboard out, my finger was caught on it. I couldn't use my finger for a whole day. Kinda sad cause I was a avid supporter of Nokia mobiles. :(
My phone hanged last night, when i want to turn it on,the screen gets white with nokia on it,it doesnt turn on again, what can i do with that ?
happy with mini n97 but
for the amount of money i paid nokia, we can ask for more
no major bugs
no reboot bug
nokia multimedia sync
Apple iphone 3G doesn't have even a 10% of N97 features and possibilities.
sipho, 04 Jan 2010can sum1 tell me how to tranfer a movie from a computer into this phone , coz when i do i does... moreYour movie format isn't supported by N97. You should encode it to supported format 3GP etc.
In N97 I don't like that when you slide your finger looking for icon of program you need it slides step by step.
I had a Nokia N97. Bought it a month ago but sold it last week. And now, I bought a Nokia N97 Mini. And I could honestly say the N97 Mini is a lot better than the original N97. The size, the looks, it's just a lot better. N97 Mini looks so classy in mocha brown whereas my previous black N97 looked so cheap. N97 mini's screen is also noticeably brighter and the colors are more vibrant and picture quality is sharper than the original N97. I don't mind its screen shrunk to 3.2 inches. It's still large anyway. N97 Mini only has 8GB built-in mass memory in contrast to N97 with 32GB but the phone memory is doubled to 256MB. So I don't have problems installing many apps and themes on N97 mini. I could say that I'm happy with my transition from N97 to N97 mini. The user experience is much better on N97 mini even though the original N97 boasts better specs on paper.
I noticed that my Nokia N97 is now booting from 25 seconds to 31 seconds. 41 seconds seems a bit longer but I am happy that my Nokia N97 is now on its tip-top shape again aside from the scratched lens.
I just remove the battery without turning the phone off, that might be the reason why it fixed itself.
Im going to have the lens replaced and my Nokia N97 will be my Ultimate phone.
gabby131, 04 Jan 2010Why I pick N97 rather than N900: (i hope some users share theirs too) N900 is already avail... morei too chose to get the n97 instead of the n900 and am very happy with my phone. for me, i enjoy apps (had an iphone 3g before) and there simply aren't enough around yet for the new maemo os. the other main reason was that the n900 is a niche phone, which is most suitable for 'tech geeks'. nokia themselves admit that it probably won't have mass appeal. i think it's too powerful for my needs..why do i need to run 15apps at one time? i do think that nokia need to rehaul the outdated symbian os and give it a fresher feel, but i'd rather not use a new os just yet either. maybe in a year or two when maemo is more developed, i will make the switch. but until then, i'm more than satisfied with my n97.
Anonymous, 04 Jan 2010the letters are not print rather molded, they do not fade awayoh....so thats why i feel "humps" on each button. so they are kinda embossed. thanks
Larry, 04 Jan 2010wow...congrats on being able to reboot successfully! so it just fixed itself aye...unfortunate... morei got a problem with my n97 if i install enything i gives me na error mxit facebook if someone will please help me thanks
Why I pick N97 rather than N900: (i hope some users share theirs too)
N900 is already available and shipping when i bought my n97 for the reasons being:
-The Symbian OS= i know its a bit aged and lots of laggy and crashing moments, but really, i got the hang of it. and Maemo is just new to me, totally no idea.
-availablity of apps= new OS means more improvements, and more pending apps (if we could install SIS apps in maemo that'll be great)
-N-GAGE!!!!= one of the best reasons why i have a smartphone are GAMES!!!! BUT! no n-gage for n900 and upcoming 2010 phones :(. i know N-Gage is goin to close, but still, i can play the games i download and post scores, and OVI store will be the new GAME store (i hope the games dont need the N-GAGE app to play it)
-the phone itself= i never used an internet/data tablet before (well at least i can try)
-dimensions= n900 is too bulky for me to be a phone (i already have that problem in my n97)
-other aspects are the battery and hardware (sure the 1320mah battery lasts long in a 5800xm but the apps and processor of the n900 will be the exception).
NOTE: buying n97 doesn't mean i wont get n900 or other maemo phones LOL!!!
Alex, 04 Jan 2010I instaled a theme in my N97 & it hanged, then I turn it off & it didnt turn on again !
S.one ... morehere are some options and tips:
-turn on your phone again. if it doesn't work, do the following:
1. remove the battery, sim card and memory card
2. attach the battery (w/o the sim and mmc) then switch on your device.
3. if successfully turned on, uninstall the theme you just installed (in the case that youinstalled the theme in the phone memory or mass memory)
4. if you installed the theme on the memory card, you can try to delete the theme by connecting it on a computer, if not, you might need to reformat.
5. if non of these solves the problem, perform the MEMORY CARD TRICK (which is already mentioned on the previous post) or a hard reset.
NOTE: if worst happens, nokia care must help you
for those who owns n97 for months now, does the print on keyboard buttons absolute? i mean if they cannot be erased? coz sum of the print on rubber keypads of other phones are deleted with the length of use.
I instaled a theme in my N97 & it hanged, then I turn it off & it didnt turn on again !
S.one help me what to do with that ? tnx
supa tash, 04 Jan 2010i had mine a few months now all was ok.. then last night while on web my batt died, so obvious... moretry to remove the memory card and then turn the phone on without it. you might need to try it a few times. i have a reboot problem, and i often need to try the memory card trick several times for about 30minutes before it reboots. but i get to avoid a hard reset so it's worth it. if you don't have a memory card, put one in and it might reboot. if these don't work, i'm afraid you will need to hard reset (just google it). if you need to do this, you will unfortunately lose all your data that is on phone memory (eg. contacts, calendar entries) but your e drive should be fine. does nokia not have adequate options for backup for macs? shame..and quite unacceptable!
