This phone has been in my dreams but can't afford it yet, hope it's firmware updates fixes it's bugs
I am a Loyal NOKIA user from last 12 years and have purchased more than 25 handsets time to time with the changing of technology and enhanced quality.
Few months back, I purchased an N-97 Nokia Handset which was launched in that particular week. Prior to this I was using E-90 handset which was purchased by me on June 2007, the time it was launched.
I never came across any instrument or software failure problem in past 12 years and was very much satisfied with its quality and support.
The people who deal with NOKIA are very much known to me in Mumbai and Valsad district as all they know that I am fond of good quality ‘Hi-Fi’ Handsets.
I always carry high respect and regards for all NOKIA products, its ‘Sales Network’ (Nokia Priority) and ‘Service Network’ (Nokia Care) till the time I faced a worst incident with ‘Nokia Care’ Centre at Jamnagar on 27th November 2009.
The incident is like this:
I was travelling to ‘Saurashtra’ region of Gujarat state on a social visit during 24th November 2009 to 28th November 2009.
I was stationed at Jamnagar on 26th Night and used my N-97 mobile up to midnight and early hour of 1.00 a.m. of 27th.
I slept somewhere at 2.00 a.m. after checking my E-mail by using my N-97 handset. Up to this time my handset was working perfectly.
At early 6.00 a.m. of 27th, a phone call from my Umargam came and I tried to receive that call but as the ‘Touch Screen’ system of mobile was not working, I could not receive that call and my handset kept ringing and ringing.
I could not understand the problem and ‘switched off’ the handset and again ‘switched on’ to call back my plant but with a great shocking surprise the ‘Touch Screen’ was not working!!
I again ‘switched off’ the handset, removed the Battery and removed the Sim Card, and again ‘switched on’ handset after inserting battery and Sim card.
But my N-97 Touch Screen didn’t work!!
And I was helpless as I was not able to excess any contact information from mobile and communicate with my known people in Jamnagar.
There was NO external damage, NO scratch or mark on phone, I concluded that this must be a ‘software’ problem and any Nokia Care centre can fix it.
I was supposed to travel to attend a wedding ceremony at ‘Khambhalia’ so I left for Khambhalia and checked there to get the contact information of nearest Nokia Care service centre. I was able to spek to Nokia Care (Shree Service) at Jamnagar and fixed an appointment at 3.30 p.m. with a request to attend my handset without any delay so that I can travel to my next destination Porbandar.
I left Khambhalia at 2.00 p.m. and reached Nokia Care at Jamnagar at 3.00 p.m. and explained my problem to lady on the ‘Receiving Desk’. She inspected my handset, checked with the technicians and suggested me to get the ‘back-up’ of my saved data and contacts.
Following her instruction I searched for some better place where I can take the ‘back-up’ of my handset. I was able to find a very renowned Mobile Handset Shop named ‘Yash Mobile’ in nearby area and a Nokia Sales representative helped me to take back-up. The Nokia sales representative suggested me to ask the confirmation of ‘FIXING’ the problem at Nokia Care Service Centre as N-97 being an expensive Handset.
I handed over my handset at Nokia Care somewhere at 5.40 p.m. with an assurance given by the lady at ‘receiving desk’ that they will rectify and fix the handset. She inspected the exterior appearance of my handset and agreed that there was NO external DAMAGE visible. As I wanted to travel to Porbandar, she told me to collect handset by 6.45 p.m. with a reason their online system go ‘off’ at 7.00 p.m.
I was called at 6.30 p.m. and the delivery counter boy handed over me mobile and told me to sign the ‘Job Sheet’. The instrument was NOT locked properly and its appearance was like as it was handled very roughly.
I asked the delivery boy and he replied me roughly that they don’t have ‘TIME’ to take care of such small things!!
I asked about fixing the problem and he replied me that its repair cannot be done by them and they have to send handset to New Delhi workshop.
While inspecting the handset, I found that the screen was having a BIG SCRACH on its surface. I told that delivery man about this that this was scrachless and free from exterior damage when given for fixing and how this happened?
He told me that such small things can happen and if I leave handset at Jamnagar, they will get it repair at New Delhi without any cost under warrantee. As I live in Mumbai and Umargam, I cannot leave the handset like that so I requested the delivery man to give me a copy of Job Sheet with all details. For which he refused to do..
Forcefully I wrote all details of delivery status of handset on Job Sheet and took zerox copy of it and asked him to put stamp of his company what he refused to follow!!
I took my handset and zerox copy of Job Sheet and walked out of Nokia Care..
Do you know how the appearance of this NOKIA CARE Service Centre was??
A room of 8 feet X 7 feet area with height only 7 feet! In between this there was 3 front desk with receiving, explaining and delivery counter. Behind that, there was a small un-tidy table where 3 so called technicians were sitting without any proper arrangement to repair or handle handsets. Sometimes screws were going down; some time the panel and sometime the handsets!!
The staff was very rough and rude as such as they were obliging their customers!!
Just I stepped out of this centre and I faced one gentleman who was coming down from the upper level of this center with a smile on face!
Unknowingly our ‘eyes’ clicked to each other and he exclaimed that at last his broken screen of N-97 handset was replaced!
He was not knowing that I was there as a ‘victim’ of replacement of his broken screen, I asked him that how this can happen as they do not have stock of such expensive mobile spares and skill to repair?
He told me with a BIG smile that everything is possible for him and he have very GOOD influence on this Nokia Care Franchise Management!!
I rushed inside the service centre and all staff was gone and that delivery counter man told me that I can do whatever I feel!!
So this is NOKIA CARE!!
I am a renowned businessman of my area and have contacts everywhere, so I have decided to publish this story on each and every media available!!
Nothing else I can do as I am the victim of ‘so called’ NOKIA CARE expertise in India!!
What do you think??
Thanks for reading this mail with patience

Nyx, 11 Dec 2009Do you know what patent infringments Apple is refering to? As I don't exactly see what Nokia s... moreHi, the truth is that Nokia are taking Apple to court. It is Apple that are refusing to pay for patents, Nokia spent 40 billion Euros developing things that all other companies pay to use. Apple refused to pay, they are claiming they have invented things that have been in use for a long time. Nokia are suing Apple, not the other way around.
the n 97 lags too much. although it is pretty decent i really wished they would fix the lagging problem and the ovi is not that great either! 7 out of ten
what are you guys talking about? the iphone is nice and the nokia n97 is okay. they both have their unique features. keep it as that. people always got to hate and can never be satisfied.

Anonymous, 12 Dec 2009Nokia not.Just only need to produce good phone but also to stop the iPhone hype
if n98 wil... moreIndeed the iphone has a load of hype but who isn't trying to get some of it? But if you had a mind of your own and didn't just do what all the propoganda tells you to you might just realize that the iphone does lack some things and isn't the phone for everybody.
I hate all these iphoners that think their phone must be the one and only. Get Over It and go play with your ridiculous apps.
Nokia not.Just only need to produce good phone but also to stop the iPhone hype
if n98 will still use the slow processor and little ram an no gpu then nokia will kill themselves!
N900 is too bulky, the os is amazing
n900 mini ? Nokia !
As a phone dealer I hate the N97. Today alone in 30 minutes I have had 3 N97s brought in to be sent back to Nokia for warranrty due to the phones freezing, dropping calls, refusing to unlock, refusing to charge etc. I have 20+ N97s per week brought back for warranty claims and Early Life Failure replacements, compared to maybe 1 phone from all the other brands combined. I am totally sick of customers yelling at me about their N97s failing!
The N97 could have been an awesome phone, it has some awesome features and some great capabilites, but the software is just so full of bugs and glitches that I can't in good concience recommend this phone to customers. Nokia need to create (yet another) software update to fully fix the issues this phone has. Once they do, the N97 will be a great phone.
1-The phone memory not enough too support Nokia e-mail.
2-Each times used bluetooth function and switch to fm radio found can not receive.
Anonymous, 11 Dec 2009Apple Countersues Nokia Over Phone Patents By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Published: December 11... moreDo you know what patent infringments Apple is refering to? As I don't exactly see what Nokia stole. The N97 isn't much different from the N95 that came out long before the iphone did and the N900 is in a completely different ballpark; it's more of a tiny netbook with phone capabilities. Unless Apple is refering to the on screen sliding thing to unlock the phone when you get a call...?
