David, London, UK, 07 Dec 2009Guys, I am close to getting my new Nokia. I currently have the Nokia 5800 but will change ... moreIf you use the phone heavily, you will need to charge daily. The battery is decent but not fantastic. I personally haven't had many major problems with the phone (only occasional hanging and having to hard reset once), but you do hear about many horror stories. The phone still has a way to go before being completely stable software-wise - it is still a bit buggy even with the v20 firmware, so there probably are more stable alternatives out there.
Boris, 07 Dec 2009Glad to hear you didn't need to hard reset. Did you put the memory card back in before or aft... moreThanks again bcoz i googled for hard reset for N97 because of you and got the answer....But what I did was i didnt had a memory card previously in my N97 as the 32 gigs are enough....but then i took my N73's memory card and inserted it in the slot while the phone was switched off and again switched on....to my wonders the phone successfully rebooted....the method is if u have a memory card previously in ur phone just switch off ur phone by taking out the battery if its not getting switched off and then take out the mem card and try to switch on and if again it freezes again put in the mem card and switch on...
Hope it never happens to u :)
Damion, 07 Dec 2009Has anyone found that the signal on the N97 is terrbile? I had the SE Satio before this and ha... moreI have had no problems whatsoever with signal, or anything to do with making/receiving calls for that matter.
David, London, UK, 07 Dec 2009Guys, I am close to getting my new Nokia. I currently have the Nokia 5800 but will change ... moreIn regards to the battery, you probably will need to charge it daily (not more than once daily though). Obviously it depends on how you use it (and you can do things like set network mode to gsm and lower screen brightness to save memory), but if you call and use wifi quite heavily everyday, I would be surprised if it lasts more than 24 hours or so. Of course the battery is removable and you can get another one, but unfortunately I have no experience in batteries so cannot recommend any. Personally, I haven't had too many problems with this phone, but I'm sure you've read by now
Damion, 07 Dec 2009Has anyone found that the signal on the N97 is terrbile? I had the SE Satio before this and ha... moreHey Damion the N97 gets decent signals almost everywhere and if u are not getting good signals on ur fone then check with another fone at the same place with the same operator once and then if shows good signal then take your N97 to the store and have a replacement done or a repair on the internal antenna.
Pnoy in US, 07 Dec 2009thank you. is there any way to set Mass/Memory Card as default memory for download/install apps? When using Ovi store, you can set mass memory as default memory - just go to accounts and settings on your phone. But when installing apps outside of Ovi store, you have to choose which memory it will save into - it gives you a choice of phone, mass or memory card. You can't set a default; it will ask you what you want to do every time. Note that there are some apps (eg Nokia Messaging and Ngage) that must be stored on phone memory (and even if you don't choose phone memory it will be stored there).
Animesn97, 07 Dec 2009thanx Boris a lot......i got to switch on my fone back to normal....but i didnt hard reset i j... moreGlad to hear you didn't need to hard reset. Did you put the memory card back in before or after the phone restarted? Because another user said to remove it, turn the phone on then put it back in. What exactly did you do? Just wondering in case I get stuck on the godawful and Nokia white screen!

David, London, UK, 07 Dec 2009Guys,
I am close to getting my new Nokia. I currently have the Nokia 5800 but will change ... moreHey Hiii David I would love to tell u to get a N97 but I would prefer not to get it rather than if u can get a N900 if u can or a E72 I am big fan of Nokia and have a N97 but I would like u to know that it has many bugs to be solved out yet and talking about the battery...its a decent one but not that good as compared to other Nseries models. It needs charging in a day for sure if u r going to use it more like receiving calls and using the internet....but the battery will be consumed as it has a big 3.5" screen so its upto u to charge once a day regularly if u use it more...But i would prefer a N900...
I am close to getting my new Nokia. I currently have the Nokia 5800 but will change it soon as I don't want just a Touch Screen phone. I need buttons. With this phone, how good is the battery? How often do I need to charge it if I just do text messages and calls?
How often do I need to charge it with heavy use - calling, SMS, email (WIFI) and playing games?
What about average use?
Is there an alternative stronger battery I could buy?
I will not get a Nokia which I have to charge daily or more than once daily. I had a bad experience with this when I had the Nokia N96. The E72 and N86 have great batteries. Both are being considered too.
Sharad, 05 Dec 2009Hi....I write this review to all the probable Nokia N97 or N97 Mini buyers to appraise them of... moreHas anyone found that the signal on the N97 is terrbile? I had the SE Satio before this and had a decent signal> Now ive got the N97 i hardle get a signal

Just google "hard reset n97" and there are a few site... morethanx Boris a lot......i got to switch on my fone back to normal....but i didnt hard reset i just put in a memory card and then switched on and bingo it was a successful reboot...if any one has this problem of the fone getting stuck on rebooting on the nokia screen..just hard reset or put a memory card in or out and try switching on the fone....follow dis link to see how to reset http://mynokiablog.com/2009/07...r-nokia-n97/
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Where's region 1? The N97 is now going for 445-550usd I believe Amazon is currently the cheapest
RAvi , 07 Dec 2009nokia n97s price may be a bit high....i bought it for 31K....but still i must say it rocks....... moreThe latest firmware has definitely breathed new life into the phone, but it's a shame that firmware 2.0 was supposed to be 1.0. If nokia didn't rush the phone into the market and made sure that they were releasing a more stable device, then the phone would be doing a lot better imo. Personally i love my n97 and haven't had as many problems with it as others seem to have had, but i have had problems just the same (i've had to hard reset once because the phone wouldn't start up, and i have the poor gps issue but don't need the gps as have no car currently).
n97 fan, 06 Dec 2009Does anyone know, in Nokia centers, they replace N97 lens cover, the blue part or they replace... moreas far as i understand, the problem with the scratched lens is because the cover was mounted too close to the lens, as the middle of the cover wasn't hollowed out. It wasn't really the lens itself that was the problem. Of course if you get this problem, you would need to get both the lens and cover replaced. I would like to think that if you were to buy the phone now, you wouldn't get this problem (as newer handsets no longer have this issue) but phones could be sitting in stores for months so you never know. I would just make sure that i will get free replacement/repair should i experience this problem before i buy the phone from a store.
Pnoy in US, 07 Dec 2009where can i find the memory status of the phone?i would also recommend that you get a file explorer like y-browser (it's free) as it lets you look into your phone's data much better than the native file manager. You can just google it and other file managers, downloads are ubiquitous.

revo, 07 Dec 2009what is more better nokia 5800 xpressmusic or nokia n97?pls help me to decide because i really... moreN97 because the touch-experience is way better than 5800 plus features especially the keyboard, i find it comfortable for texting and web browsing. I got my N97 last Dec 2. I had 5800 before I got my N97. :)
