Yes you do pay for data but that datas not restricted to GPS only. Paying for the maps you are paying for GPS only

Oh I'm so confused right now.

Ok so iPhone's in Australia are only sold on contract by a few networks because of the heavy data usage. Some networks sell them outright. You can usually get them for free on a 2 year contract

I don't know what it's like in the US, I live in Australia.

Ok so, in AUSTRALIA to get a Nokia Maps license it's $99-$130 for a year for your LOCAL area ONLY! Not even the whole country!

> In reply to Anonymous @ from HHHH - click to readEven though iPhone doesn't have voice navigation it's free to use, aside from the data charge which you would have a data plan for. With Nokia Maps here in Australia, to use the voice navigation you have to pay for a license through Nokia which for drive & walk for your local area is about $99-$130.

That's pretty expensive

hello guys,
i have read in one of the sites that Nokia has confirmed that this phone will be launched in June 2009, does that mean that this phone will not be launched at all!!! i am tired of waiting for this phone, i sold my n95 8G in order to buy the n97 and since they are pushing the date away all the time i think that i will start looking for other phones. can anybody help me on the launching date.
my friend owns a 5800 it is good but the speaker (not the loud speaker) is very low, i hope nokia fix this in n97. Nokia please hurry up becasue you might lose me as an N97 customer if this phone is not launched soon.
