I love my X3 phone. But I noticed it was missing many features. The sound quality is still the best I've heard for a phone. But with many features missing, such as Document and Text Reader, I began searching for another phone that would satisfy my needs.
The X3-00 also has a number of features that were restricted in terms of quality:
-Notes application allows up to only 30 different notes to be saved in the phone
-Each note allows only a maximum of 5,000 characters
-The notes saved in the phone is not saved in .txt format, and hence, cannot be read or synced directly by a text editor in the PC
-Voice Recorder records in very low quality, and only in .amr format
-Voice Recorder automatically uses the unnatural and annoying "noise reduction" feature that eliminates the background noise, making the sound appear unnatural
-Video Camera records only in QCIF (176 × 144) resolution, with only 15 frames per second
-Video Camera records the video sound only in .amr format, making the sound quality like that of a telephone
-The Music Player's Equalizer allows only 2 personalized settings to be saved on the phone
-The Equalizer has only 5 bands to adjust (far from the standard equalizer, which has at least 8)
-Call Records/Log is limited to 20 dialed, 20 received, and 20 missed calls
In addition, the Camera does not have LED flash.
The interface of the Write/Compose Message has an annoying large toolbar specifically meant for MMS, which occupies a large space in the small text field.
Battery is easily depleted after continuously listening to music at a moderate volume level. After fully charging, it would take about 5 hours of continuous play at Volume 5 before the battery's bar becomes about 1/3rd of the full.
In the end, I chose C5-00.2 (aka C5 5MP). It was a real improvement over the X3-00, except with some features, such as the sound quality, and the Messages "Conversation View".
-But the C5 records sound/voice memos in .amr (low quality), .wav (standard quality), and .mp4 (high quality) formats, without any unnatural "noise reduction"
-Records video in VGA (640x480) resolution, and its sound in .aac format (at 64 kbps, mono, and 48 KHz sampling rate intended for recording)
-Camera has a LED flash with 5 MP resolution
-Call Records not limited to 20
-Notes capacity is unlimited, the same is true with the number of characters it can save
-It has a Document Viewer for Word, PDF, and .txt files
-The Music Player's Equalizer has 8 bands that can be adjusted, and can save an unlimited number of personalized settings
If you are not concerned about the sound quality of this phone, but with its missing features, I recommend C5 5MP. A great improvement over the X3!
