im really torn between life and dopod 838pro
i like the specs on the life but ive been reading alot of reviews saying that it hangs alot and should get the dopod... will it be fixed with the update of the OS to mobile 6? and can you really notice the difference between 620Mhz and 400Mhz processor?

suprax, atom life picture/video quality is no better than the dopod or htc 2M pixel camera. this o2 is very expensive whose price does not commensurate with its offered capability.

Ganda,

You may have done this already, but can you just check if your connection settings (band setting) is at AUTO or GPRS. You may have a problem if it is set to UTMS. Set it first to GPRS and try the prepaid SIM again.

why dont you bring your atom life to globe business office with your prepaid globe sim card. if they cannot make your phone to work, better return to the shop and ask for refund. also, people in globe tel can definitely determine if the problem is with your phone or network settings.

O2 Store or service center is upgrading O2 units for free specially ATOM LIFE. All problems will be fixed when upgraded to WM6.

I've tested my Atom Life on Globe prepaid and it's working without any problems (both for calls and text messages). I got my Atom in Kuala Lumpur but is using it here in the Philippines. I'm wondering what's wrong with the Philippine release - it should work with any SIM if it is unlocked.

Cheers!

I noticed that a Globe SIM can not make and receive calls when the 3G signal is low (one bar. This is true for almost all phones, including Nokias, and not just the Atom. Try switching the band to GPRS only, or use it outdoors where the signal is strong. I think that the 3G signal at the store was very low when it was tested that's why the Globe prepaid SIM did not work.

I bought my Atom Life in Kuala Lumpur and was able to use it with both Globe and Smart here in the Philippines. The unit "auto-configures" my settings whenever I change my SIM from Globe to Smart (vice-versa). I can not understand why the Atom Life purchased locally can have a problem using the local SIM. Something must be wrong with the unit.

If you are having a problem with the Globe prepaid SIM, I suggest you borrow a Globe postpaid sim and auto-configure it. The settings will be retained once you insert a prepaid SIM from the same provider (Globe).

Cheers!

this is the first time i encounter the situation where a supposedly unlocked phone cannot be used in certain operator(Globe PH), thus some kind of network configurations are necessary.. i have been to almost 42 countries in the world bringing a very new unlocked phones, and no problem of using the local SIM card of each country I have been.. Now, it is confirmed with me not to buy O2 atom life unit, very strange behavior. maybe some comments are really true about the cons of this O2 PDA phones.

atom life is at PhP45,900.
Re: globe prepaid..when we tried it using SMART sim cards it worked well but when we tried at least 2 Globe prepaid simcards, it failed to receive and make calls..We also tried using a different unit of atom life, but the results were the same.

this is basically my opinion, O2 units are very expensive.. why??/ because it is smaller compare to the other pda phones around.. function not superior, htc hermes tytn never been beaten by this O2 units.. therefore, the high price is due to size.. the size you are paying for.. the size!!! think 100X before buying this unit.. reviews sites gave this very high evaluation because the people doing the reviews are receiving great favors from O2 marketing department, a sales strategy- a concerned friend on PDA enthusiasts world
