Argh, just checked O2 website, they have new WM6 ROM upgrade for ZINC! and not Flame~!!! Booo..

For memory card. Im not sure if MicroSD comes out with 4GB already. But well, sometimes we cant really based on what the spec stated. Its all depends on what chipset the MemoryCard use. I believe, 4GB memorycard can work on Flame, just that maybe need get the compatible chipset. It happens on my previus XDAII.

As for GPS. We do know without GPS, its disappointing. But comon, we do KNOW with GPS integrated, your battery will drop like crazy (Nokia N95). Since GPS likely to be use in car. Why not buy a Bluetooth GPS unit. And bluetooth sync with O2 Flame for longer usage? If you seriously looking for GPS integrated model. Pls refer to Asus PDA. And not here complaining on "what the heck O2" or what sort.

WooHoo!... I juz got mine yesterday!
Yeah. Its great!. When is wm6 upgrade coming?
Other than the dedicated graphics, this thing has usb2.0 and usb OTG. Can plug in my 4gb thumbdrive and transfer files straight. The screen is pretty, but the SRS WoW is wow. Bass, treble controllable with surround. The speakers are really not bad...
Fast too. Its not as big as what ppl say is itand is damn light even with the battery inside.
Really happy with it.
Quick, I want my WM6.
Cheers! :D

Hi Jim, Thanks for all your posts, really helpful ones..:)
I have a few qs nd need some real answers since u seem an old-experienced o2 PPC user and as i got really confused nd bored from reading others' complaints nd bogus reviews of o2 devices, to extent i thought of not buying one. But after i've read ur posts, it got me confident nd made me somehow very eager to buy one as soon as it get released in the UK market.
Which is better, the o2 xda zinc or o2 xda trion? and their performance comparing to other o2 xda devices. Heard they hang a lot, is it true? Is it cuz its running on windows mobile 5.0? Or its the same slow down with the windows mobile 6.0? What about the keyboard stability? Any issues?
And as i'm planning to buy one of those cutting-edge innovative devices, mainly either the o2 xda flame or the o2 xda atom. So which one do u recommend most? Thanks.

Hack is go to Local Machine /System/GDI/Glyphcache

change decimal value to say 16384 or 32768 etc

The Flame is slightly shorter and thinner than the XDA2 but a tad wider. The case would probably fit if it has some slack in its width.

SDHC cards do not work, so you are limited to standard 2GB micro plus the internal 2GB. However since you can use USB flash drives and hard drives, it is not a big deal. I have run movies off a USB stick for example.

Franco

I have used a XDA2 for years and have hundreds of games and applications on it. Problem is I have not had time to start testing all these things out, my workload has been horrible lately.

I will say that videos ran suberbly - avi divx ones I transfered from my Creative Vision W device. I used Core Player. I did increase the cache though right from the start since I heard others had stuttering video. This is a hack I has on my XDA2 so I just automatically copied it over. I have not encountered any stuttering at all.

The screen looks wonderful. I still have my XDA2 so I can compare the two screens side by side. The XDA2 looks pitiful in comparison. When you see the VGA graphics, you say to yourself "Oh yeah, baby" and wonder why you stuck with QVGA for so long.

The screen is not bright - it is however the same as what most people would be accustomed to if you reduced the brightness on battery settings on previous units which is what I did with the XDA2 so I personally am happy with it. I know there are gamma settings in the registry I can try adjusting to get it brighter if I wanted to, except I don't because the battery drain is already high.

As for the Kaiser, well I am biased. I don't care for its advantages like the keyboard which I hate because I can type so much faster and easier on screen. Also the GPS is something I would never use myself.

At the end of the day you interface with the screen. Do you want a powerful PPC sitting behind a 2.8inch QVGA or do you want a powerful PPC sitting behind a 3.6inch VGA screen with a GPU and surround sound?

Sorry to all HTC fanboys but the Flame just blows away the Kaiser as a traditional PPC never mind the versatility offered by VGA out and USB OTG. It is not a contest.

If you are an old time PPC nut then go with your instincts, you know the Flame specs will remain cutting edge technology for some time to come.

Also the Flame looks much cooler in reality than what you see in the pics. Its shape makes the screen like gigantic and is much better than the XDA2 shape. When I show it off, everyone wants one, they think it is the coolest thing they have seen. You have the Aston Martin, they have the Ford Focus. Just smile and pity them :)
