after having a day to think about o2 's outrageous demands for a supposedly FREE upgrade to an orbit from my mini s, i have decided to say bo@+*cks to em and go back to vodaphone!!
BUT, just as i was going to pick the phone up and let o2 HAVE IT !!i remembered why i went to o2 in the first place!
It was because vodaphone did exactly the same when i wanted an upgrade with them. (joke upgrade demands)
The funny thing was that when i got my PAC code off them and said my farewells ,every day for the following week ,they called me to beg me to stay!
SO what am i to do? cos they are ALL the same at the end of the day ! T***S !

RIGHT i have had my rant now !

Is the Orbit Bluetooth v.2? Does it support A2DP? One review stated it didn't but a user guide said it did.

I just upgrade my phone, here is the story, o2 say if I wanna upgrade my phone, I need to pay £199.99, plus £45 a month, for 12 month, and because I am select customer, they offer me just £35 for 12 month.

I said you must be joking, I like to have my PAC number please. and after the long discution. I end up paid £99.99 for the phone, and every month I have 500 min, 100 text and only £17.50 a month for the next 12 month. no softwear tho. but never mind, coz I can get cheap softwear on ebay. and I only paid £310 for total plus a softwear. no bad.

so guys, please tell them you like to disconnect or PAC number, other wise , o2 will never ever give you a good deal. and that's how I get my good deal every year with o2.

because at the end of the day, there is too much comptition, as customer, we reaaly need to compaer the price before we get rip off.

Heres the latest all people looking for the Orbit.
Just spoke to O2 and was put to there retentions dept and was told that I have to still have to £99.99 for the upgrade and on top of that wait for it, if I want the 'FREE' sat nav software I would have ordinarily have to pay an additional £99.99 but as I am select customer they will give me 25% discount......what a bunch of ???????

o2 just dont know how to keep their customers happy and keep them with o2, it appears that they would rather let their customers go elsewhere.

Even if you get an orbit with out Co-Pilot is GPS already enabled? Meaning you just need to get the Navigation software. I can get Tom Tom quite easily just wanna know if I would need a GPS reciever or not?

Hi hipposniffer, I too have had the same argument with o2 and is on-going. To make matters worse when I went on their website they are offering the Orbit on a simlar contract to mine and for a new customer they can by the phone for £59.99. Now bearing in mind I am existing customer they still wanted to charge me £99.99, can some PLEASE tell me where is the logic in that ????

To me it's seems that o2 dont give a damn about there existing customers and just have a "we don't care" attitude !!!

o2 are very sneaky. I have exec and they mentioned I could get an upgrade. Not really interested in orbit but may see what they say to me if I ask for it for free with the GPS software. O2 usually are quite good with me when it comes to upgrade. They gave me the exec free and that was upgrading from a Sony Ericcson S700.

Thanks for the info Jason - I have been looking into it a bit more and it seems that o2 could be in trouble from the 1968 trade descritions act and also the 1973 sale of goods act.
Basically i was ready to quit o2 when they offered me the orbit, with its built in sat nav. The guy on the phone directed me to the o2 site where it said free tom tom (this has now changed to co-pilot).
Now o2 are saying that website is for new subs only and they won't budge.
I'm waiting for a call back too, seeing as they want to lock me into an 18 month contract...
I will be talking to trading standards in the morning.

spoke to o2 today to try and upgrade my o2 mini s for the orbit! was promised a FREE upgrade at the end of my mini s contract so thought the orbit was the natural successor! they said it would be £99 to upgrade to the orbit!!! i reminded them of my FREE upgrade offer i had in writing, only to be told that it only applied if i accepted an inferior phone to my mini s!! so basically after 12 months you get a FREE DOWNGRADE!!!
someone please tell me whats that all about??
its like trading your 3 year old bmw in for a 'NEW 'fiat panda !!!
what a JOKE !!!
was getting very excited about the orbit especially when i saw 'FREE co pilot software' advertised on their wesite but having reading some of the comments below i am not sure whether this is the case either??
sort it out ay!!!

OK, so the story so far in my fight with O2 and the satnav

But first, the leather case, they sent me the case for the XDA EXEC which is my other phone and when I called them they said there was no case for the orbit yet, so with a bit of a fuss and mention about the satnav and the promise of them both O2 said they will give me one month free rental so I can get my own case, and at a saving of £40 on my bill I wasn’t going to argue!!!

Back to the sat nav, Thursday night spoke to a nice guy who was trying to help as he thought it came with the software and he tried to send it to me but with no luck, so he was going to call me back on Friday with a solution, guess what, still no call back!!! Spoke to a guy today (who gave me £40 credit, who’s name is Frances) and he said he can see the note but it still can’t be done, so I kicked up a fuss (all the time telling him that I don’t blame him as he was trying to help, keeps them on your side) and he spoke to him manager who will call me in the next 24H but will believe it when it happens!!! If I can get them to credit my account as they have miss-sold a product I will be happy, but the software would be nicer!!!

I will keep you posted on what happens when (if) I get my call back. I will get the guys name and a way to call him if it works and you can also speak to him!!!

Hope this helps!!!

Still not having much luck with the sat nav saga - o2 are giving nothing away, even when they have sold it 'with sat nav'.

I am still talking to them about possible breaches in the sale of goods act and the trades descriptions act, to see what can be done.

Jason Billyack - how did you get your case? they aren't sending one out to me...

as for the phone - it seems ok but i don't want to get too attached as it might be going back...

Just so you all know, TOMTOM does not allow transfer of is software from one handset to another, hence why you activate it from the handset? Bad show on TOMTOM part as handsets change so often. I spoke to tomtom direct who said "Licence is for a single handset use only and is non-transferable" Suggest you think about this point before buying your sat nav software, Other providers do allow transfers as you licence the software not the handset! I found this out to late.
