Has anyone got any tips or links on how to get the WM6.0 upgrade on the Telstra based Treo 750?

Also, forgot to mention, on the Palm website, as far as the WM6.0 upgrade goes, it says it is only compatible with Vodafone and 3, however you only need to have a 3 or Vodafone sim in the handset at the time of installing the upgrade, then you can switch back to any other provider's sim. The installation is based on the network settings of 3 and Vodafone, so like I have already done, you can install the WM6.0 upgrade onto a Telstra based 750 with no problems at all. There is also a patch available to get rid of the internal network branding that comes up when you switch to flight mode etc. Hope this helps.

to joseph, i think, it will depend on how you will be using your phone. the treo 750 has no wi-fi, but you can do video call through it by its 3G capability, while the htc touch has wifi, but no 3G capability. In one way or another, each of the two devices has its own strength and weaknesses, like the treo do have keyboard, the touch doesnt (but u can operate it like how you do on the iphone because of its touch flo F.S. navigation), the touch has better camera quality, though it has a bit slower processor. the biggest advantage of touch is its better software which is WM6 compared to treo's WM5, but you can upgrade the treo's to WM6 if you are persevering to search for an upgrade and intructions to it. If you will ask me, I'll go for the touch because I like to search internet on wireless hotspots. Again, it depends on how you will use these two as ur personal phone. hope this helps. :-)

Hi Andy

I have used all types of smartphones myself in the past and I agree with you on everything you say about it. It seems to me that you understand
smartphones well.
I have quite a problem that no-one can sort it out for me and that is reading the WebPages. I get connected to the local internet provider but when it comes to reading ( locating ) and opening the web pages I get a message to check my settings.

The setting ( for PDA phones in Croatia only )) I have checked and they seem to be be correct.

Hopping you will have the time to read this mail and give me some suggestion to this problem.

Pino

I Have recently purchased a Treo 750 from the USA with WM 6.0 Built in, i have had PPCs for over 10 years now and had every one.

My opinion of this device...I agree with other posts that this for me is the best one handed PPC you can get,and though it doesnt run at the front of the pack with say the Kaiser which i have used..i think that this is a much better work mate...using the white dials to input telephone numbers straight on the homepage nice touch...searching emails and internet straight off the homepage....again nice touch
I am impressed with things like listening to music using TCPMP sound very very good nice punchy bass and treble puts other PPCs to shame..movie play back as long as you encode it properly is clear and entertaining no stutter and playing games on 240x240 screen is very good as well.

all and all a good solid device and have no regrets and im using this PPC Phone much more than ive used other PPC because its just that good...one last thing and this is impressive Telephone Conversation sound quality this has to be as good as landline its that clear..WOW for me 10/10

For the people that dont like this phone.

1. Either you are a Palm OS person and not Windows OS.

2. You need to customize it to make it a powerful unit by adding custom softwares. If not then just get a regular phone. I know some people get a powerful device to look cool but they dont know what the hell they are doing and just complain

JUST A GREAT DEVICE!!!

Well, I read some complaints here but keep in mind there is no such thing as a perfect device. Anyway, I just picked up the Treo 750 and put Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional on it and got it unlocked to use with T-Mobile. The WM6 is clean unranded ROM/Software, I did have to add the Arcsoft MMS program because it did not come with it. After adding my custom softwares and applications this unit is awesome. The 300mhz processor is very nice and smooth. I had other Pocket PC and Smart Phone and the Treo is the best one hand operation Pocket PC. I had pocket PC that had the slid out keyboard and they are just a pain, the smartphone is too dumb and copy and paste even with after market software is still a pain. Lack of Wifi is not really an issue cause I dont use wifi when I had it, I dont use the camera to take family potraits so 1.3MP is just fine. This unit can use a GPS but its not that important. The important thing is that it has a good processor, solid built, and a Pocket PC with one hand operation. Trust me, I used many many devices and do programming for alot of Pocket PC and I definitely love the Treo 750. If you guys have any questions just email me.

Great phone. Only 3G (broadband speed) Treo availible. Switched from sidekick 3 to this phone. This is definitely a grown man's sidekick with much faster 3G versus much slower EDGE. And 3rd party app support. Works great with MobiTV.
