Palm Treo 750v - user opinions and reviews

Palm

Got a Treo 750v 6 weeks ago, needed soft booting to find the memory card after each sync. Did not sync properly, lost all the details of the notes just came back after sync'ing with the titles of the notes all the details GONE. Sent it back for repair Service provider lost it, so replaced it. Replacement phone is worse than the original, would not update outlook, still lost the card, still had sync problems, MP3 developed an unexpected error, as asposed to an expected error ! Now looking for a replacement phone, don't buy one they are rubbish, perhaps its the windows connection !

wifi? haha.... me personally don't believe that those people who will buy this phone will not be able to afford to pay for the 3G wireless data. then what is the reason they wanna be stuck inside the office or home just to use the internet on the treo for free rather than on computer??? then what does the word MOBILE and WIRELESS mean? and anybody who wonder which one to choose, look no further, this treo is the best one in the market. it is soooo soft and comfortable to hold. I bought the phone because it is palm, and soft touch paint, and the perfect keyboard. don't waste your time hesitate, go for it, and won't regret...

hi, mark, I have used treo 750v on vodafone here in new zealand for 5 months already. this phone is no doubt the best PDA on the market. bcoz everybody knows it, the palm treo 750v is the only usable and reliable WM phone available. it only crash after I install too many types of third party apps, and reasonable speed of response on many apps. the most important app is the threaded sms, this is the app that no other phone can beat!! the keyboard was very stiff at the beginning, so I pressed the whole keyboard for hundreds of times using my two thumbs, so now the keyboard become much softer and usable. perfect for one handed typing, now I can type out very fast speed on treo bcoz of the small size keys, so my eyes don't need to move left and right to see all the keys I need to press, and I don't need to move my thumbs much bcoz keys are stick close to each other, unlike the herme, too wide. but the bad thing is that it is hard for treo to handle video, apart from having a square screen, but I don't watch movie as much as before, so don't care. the HSDPA speed on vodafone is not too bad, get 850k on the dslreport.com, and the internet speed is reasonably fast for downloading websites and files, sometimes I get 1.8M when download a file!! the screen is perfect under the strong and direct sunlight, totally readable! even my 700wx's screen fades when under a bit of sunlight...I got a 2400mph battery, so it last for ever...not to mention the total ease of use over all WM pda, this palm treo 750v is absolutely the one to beat. and I recommend it to everyone. just buy it, and u won't regret...

i purchased a palm 750 a couple of months ago. i love it when it works but have wanted to throw it against a wall at least once a week. the phone all of the sudden stops working for me. sometimes, it just gets locked up and constantly clicks (as if i'm holding the arrow button down)while the screen is locked. other times, i miss calls because the sound quits working. I have to pull the battery about once every other day to correct the problem with the sound. i've heard something about a patch? does anyone know of a fix for this? i returned a phone w/i the 30 day period but am past that now and am stuck with the one i have. a friend of mine just bought one and his phone locks up saying "call in progress" while no call is being made. he can't end the call or do anything other than pull the battery to reboot. please help.

I've been using Palm for the past 8 years. Diligently upgrading from the one to the other. After I dropped my 650 one too many times I though its time to upgrade. At that time only the 650 was available and I mistakenly chose a Nokia E61. What a piece of horse poo! Anyway I got my Treo 750v 2 weeks ago after talking to myself in public many times over the fact that I will be using a Windowze OS. Anyway, at first I was very impressed but after ONLY 2 weeks my batery lasts 22 hours after charging it full, my phone has a mind of its own and decides when it wants to ring and at which volume. This differ everytime IF I am so fortunate to get a call in. When this happen and I am able to press the answer key it take 3-5 seconds before I can hear the other person. Beside that the keypad also chooses to switch itself on at any given time. I contacted our Palm distributors in South Africa and I am exchanging the phone for a new one Friday. BESIDE the above I love the device. Well maybe for Active Stink but that is another story. This smart phone does what it is supposed to do (well wehn it is working in my case). It is fast and working on the web, Skyping, e-mail etc etc is a breeze. Overall just one irritation is that it seems that the left E-mail key is coded into the OS and you cannot assign another application to it. BUT I do understand that under Windowze Mobile 6 much of these problems are resolved. Just my 2 (or 200) cents!

I bought a Palm 750 in Hong Kong. At first i was very pleased with it though it doesn't have WiFi. It looked and felt good and was easy to use. But 2 weeks later I couldn't open the messaging application. I contacted the Palm Service Center. They were very quick and responsive. They suggested a hard reset. That worked but of course I had to reload all my data. One week later the touch screen didn't respond. A tried the hard reset again but this time nothing happened. So I had to send it in to the Palm Service Center. I should get it back in a couple of days. I'll give it one more try but if the Treo breaks down again, I'm switching to the HTC S620. At least that has WiFi.

I get this phone 6 months ago and usability, reliability and functions are OK. The only issue is the freezes and malfunction which can happen (like when you put it in silence and come back to normal mode, it doesn't ring anymore, or touch panel is deactivated or keypad not working,...). Moreover, customer service is very crap because they absolutely want to avoid return. You consequently have to prove which is really hard when your bug is ramdom. Those issues clearly kill the product because you can't use it anymore as a business phone (imagine loosing a call because your phone didn't ring or vibrate). Bad luck

Hi Everyone, I am a design consultant (Well, some of us have to be!)good design is very important to me however, good design without great function would be like having a sleek new merc sl with a 1.3 engin or perhaps a cherry muffin made with low fat butter, it looks nice but hasn't got the taste. When it comes to business, I make the right decitions based on all the facts that I have, now, without going on to much, I have a little problem that I'm sure many of you must have gone through the same painstaking journey that I have, searching for the ultimate PDA/phone! I realy want to use a windows based device and have the convenience of one database so that I can look up a client and call or email them easily. I also need SAT nav as I often get lost. I also would love to have a great contact management database programme on the device aswell, apart from that, I want a superbly designed quality product with an amazing high contrast detailed screen. I also would like a holiday, a new garden shed and a huge house like my brothers, but all that can wait as I am desperate to buy the right PDA/Phone. So, the question is...Is the Palm 750v it? or should I forget about the windows and buy the new Nokia N95, or wait to see the new Nokia communicator or forget it all and get the old filofax out of the cupboard? Any suggestions please would be welcome.
