So far this phone does what it needs to do. It's way faster in menu then my i-mate SP5m (HTC Tornado). Only real downside is battery life. It lasts max. 1 day with normal use. Running various applications over the day and making some phone calls reduces battery time to 1 day. Shame. Use it for a couple of months now and never had any issue with it. Good phone, good build quality, poor battery.

I've had it for a week. One thing is the battery. This is really bad. It lasts for 24 hrs. The phone allso locks up quite often, and then I have to wait for quite some time or shut it off. Up to now, quite dissapointing.

I bought the qtek 8500 two weeks ago. The phone locks up and you can press any keys until you do a soft re-boot. The next problem I had was not receiving all of my phone calls or text messages. I am not sure if there is an update to fix these problems. As of 08/31/2006, I have not found one. I have not loaded any software on it.

like the phone but can anyone tell me how to save files straight to memory card via bluetooth as built in memory is limited and therefore limits what you can receive, thanks.

Hi,
I have it since one week and I like it (mostly). It does NOT have infrared.
I couldn't get BT sync to work yet but I'm hopeful. Same for debugging with VS2005, I tried to write my first mobile app but I have problems with the debugger. Maybe that works out soon.

Two points:
i) In MG&C GmbH QteK 8500 has built-in IrDA Connectivity; Compared with gsmarena's ad,does Infra-red really exist in the phone?.Also(ii) mini SD Slot is the card slot listed. Is this the same as Transflash?
I recognize that this phone is the same as Dopod S300, Why the price disparity? Reply Pls.

If u go on http://www.engadgetmobile.com, they have an article about this fone that before they were gonna call it the 8500, it was gonna be called Qtek Star Trek! How weird is that, naming a fone star trek, does have any similarties to the gadgets of star trek or was a dummy used in star trek, I don't think so!
