Nokia N93: Photo and video samples

Nokia N93: Photo and video samples - read the full textNokia N93 was just released on the market and it’s still not available everywhere in the world. Because of its extended photo and video capabilities we believe that the most of the future N93 owners are interested in the quality of its camera. Until we are able to publish full review of the phone we are presenting you some photo and video samples and also some comparison shots to Sony Ericsson K800.

Tarantula
You like to fire a broadside as usual. :P So letīs follow the normal procedure and Iīll just start disagreeing...

First i have to say that, yes, I am somewhat disappointed and actually slightly amused with the noisy imaging performance of the much hyped N93, as it performed significantly better in the old m-r preview. Weīll just have to hope that a firmware update might do the trick...

Then about the also much hyped P990i. First i have to say that it was just released! :D I never thought Iīd see the day...
Letīs talk about the UiQ, which seems to be the spearhead in "the greatness of the P-series". What is the real difference between UiQ and S60 UI? Well, with UiQ you get the "convenience" of using TWO hands instead of one, since the UiQ uses the touch-display technology. This is naturally handy when sitting by a table or if you need to handle complex data quickly. Otherwise, it means that youīll have to use both of your hands to perform simple enough tasks to be usually performed with one. Also, if you are in a car or in otherwise unstable circumstances, it can be a pain to hit the right spot with that pen-thingie needed... Also, the touch-display is just one more thing to brake. This is what I think.
It has also been mentioned that the UiW is supposed to be more stable than normal S60-platforms. Well, I made some research and read some oinions about the M600, which uses the UiQ if everyone doesnīt know. It turned out that the M600 suffers from the same problems and bugs as the S60, you know, crashes, reboots and that... So, if the UiQ is somehow more stable than the S60, the difference seems to be quite insignificant. All phones have bugs... Especially Symbian-based ones such as letīs say N80 and M600.

Next about the P990i and itīs features.
I have to say that the P990i seems to have the widest variety of features in the business class to date. Most impressive indeed. It quite much has got everything needed, as Tarantula earlier correctly stated.
Then the negative aspects, believe me, they exist in the P990i too... First thing you notice, is that the phone is very ugly, it is, really. I know thatīs a matter of taste but no can do... It is also rather hevy, when compared to itīs opponents in the E-series, and bulky. You can understand that when looking a the features. Same effect as in the N93 - filled with features on the cost of the size.
Not much to complain feature wise: Older Wi-fi, no EDGE (I know, it has 3g, but anyway), display could kick more ass and so on. Nothing really important.

But the last thing... It cost alot, 1200 usd in one place, 900 in an other. You can buy almost three E70īs for that.

Well... in my opinion id buy N93 because overall i find it better, and i cant help it but to agree with most people... SE phones are made out of cheap materials, crappy joysticks that break in a couple of months, they are just made to last a year (in the best case) so you'd buy another one...

Anyway, i admit pics taken with K800 look better than the ones of N93 but i also see that N73 sweeps the floor with K800.

Reply to who wrote this line: "If u got brain ,u will know cybershot is the best in portable digi cam world, and sony is the best in electronic devices"

LMAO! Hahaha, they are nowhere near the real brands like Canon, Nikon, and Olympus dude. Best in electronic devices? If you meant they are best at failing to suppress the industry with their standards (MD, BlueRay, UMD etc), then they are the best, yes! LMAO again, just look at how crap their PSP is. Give me a break dude. The only thing Sony is good at is lieing (about) and twisting the facts. I'm no Nokia fanboy: if LG made better products for me I would buy one of their phones - I'm a free customer and choose products because I like them, not because they are from a particular brand.

Do you homework better instead of playing with your branded walkman handset.

funny how the argument segwayed to a different...

guys this is just a camera review between n93 and k800, let's stick to the topic...

let's talk about the different imaging features by those phones.

like n93 has optical zoom
k800 has photo blogging
n93 has adobe premiere included
k800 has xenon flash

etc...

then try to make your own comparison...

The n73 photo quality is better than N93 and better than K800.
Why?
Because N93 is the VIDEO phone and N73 is the PHOTO phone!
There is no all-in-one device on the market novadays, the k800 has good photo but err... just useless horrible video.
The N73 has goog photo (better than k800) but average video (still miles better than SE).
The N93 has the best video but not very good photo (still better than k800 in some conditions, no purple color, better colors). Look here for the comparisson, not these two pics as GSMarena showed us:

LMAO about SE fanboy talk. You guys should be ashamed. Sony products suck, and that's a fact. Cybershot cams (in general) are lame cause you need their slow and stupid proprietary memory stick. Go play with your quasi-walkman phones. They sure make better pics than N93, but (unfortunately for you guys) not as good as N73 :)

@Gica Sangerica

I had a T68, T610 and now i use W800, apart nokias 3650 and 6230 ericsson T28, T39 and a cheap samsung that i sold inmediately. All of these SE phones has joystick and NEVER failed. Now i use my T610 (3 years ago) and my great W800. i very happy with my T610, now and always i use it with joy without joystick problems, maybe your thumb is too big.

First of all get a grip , none of the cameras reach the quality of a digital camera...second of all , SE makes the crapiest phones possible ... since T68 they haven't been able to change that lousy joystick which breaks after two weeks of use , i mean c'mon their phones are just bad, cheap materials , small screens, lousy speakers and everything.
So what if their camera takes slightly better pictures than the one on the N93 , i say they're pretty retarded to use the video shooting technology used 2 years ago ... still 3GP , when all phone producers use MP4 ...
Overall i say you can't compare NOKIA and SE , SE makes cheap phones and NOKIA makes real phones, phones that last over the years , not crappy things which you throw away after a month.

Hello Dreadnough, long time ago since i discussed with you.

I remember that you write about N93/K800 comparisson in mobile-review, you are proud of N93 photo performance, for now i smell your frustration.

In the final M-R review about N80 eldar clearly say that such smartphone dont meet basic requirements of a SMARTPHONE in a few words. Most of nokias smartphones users uses it to download games and useless aplications. If the situation contradicts my opinion, most of nokias S60 fans uses their smatphones to business or to a very worked situations... BUT IT ISNT THE CASE!!!

I had the 3650, since this time i very dissapointing with the S60 focussed, its more to play, but no more, and like me a lot of people; i realized that i dont want a phone with this level of complexity and poorer performance in speed and battery life, later i play with P900 and i see the difference.

You ask to a people who need PRODUCTIVITY in their work or enterprise, ALWAYS USE A SE UiQ, linux or WINDOWS SMARTPHONE because a simple reason: these OSs are more relaible, more worked interface, more business oriented. Recently nokia attemps to enter in this concept, but with S60 i really doubt about the success of this attempt. You are a witness in the P900/P910 case, now this smartphones are already used and take into account that these devices are old (same plattform of P800), only update OS and some functions (RIM, screen)In the moment of P990 launch simply crush all nokia E series. Its simply OS question, not the tech inside, and i like to add that P990 has everything.

And about numbers in the link posted before, N70 isnt compete in a serious SMARTPHONE segment, a serious business man have a P series phone in their pocket, not a N70... please, this is a toy for a childrens. More comparable device with N70 is K750 (it isnt smartphone)but not a P series, P series is in another level.

Maybe N70 sells a 1000 millions of units, but it isnt comparable to an UiQ device... please, be realistic. dont come to me with numbers and dont try to scare me with this

Still, I wonder why the figures say that more people prefer Nokia over SE.

How can a firmware upgrade improve the image quality when the problem is a HARDWARE one!
The N93 struggles to produce true 3MP pics because of its CMOS - no amount of firmware tweaking will help remove that noise.

I'm more interested in how it compares to the P990 which my supplier tells me will also be available on O2 at the same time as the N93 and at the same price. Only 2MP camera (but probably not much worse than the N93! lol), no EDGE and no wifi G...but a TOUCH SCREEN. That's a huge plus point and I wonder how easy the N93 is to use compared with a touch screen phone.

SE has better phones in sound quality and camera quality but nokia has phones that last longer and the NOKIA brand is better advertised. In terms of design they are close but still the NOKIA brand is far more wanted by ppl than the SE one altough many SE phones kick Nokia in the behind!

Hey, itīs Tarantula, always good arguments in store...
Letīs begin with the facts, as you like it.
The unhelplessly outdated P910i doesnīt stand a chance to any of the phones in the E-series. It just canīt. It lacks the major features aswell as proper design. Even if some site considered it as the smartphone of the year in 2003 or 2004 it isnīt it anymore. It hasnīt got anything. UiG is after all only a Ui, and it requires to hands to handle if you donīt have a table...

Yes, the P990i, I know, itīs nice. But when are we going to see it? Perhaps in one, two or three years, perhaps never? Or perhaps tomorrow? But not now! That means that the P-series has currently died, until the P9910i someday comes out and revives the consept. It already starts to lack the newest features like Upnp and TV-out aswell as most modern wifi.

The simple fact is, that the N93 is the best thing out there and it has got a great camera, not as good as the one integrated on the K800, we all know that by now. But hey, what about the video side? Didnīt you SE chaps boast about some handycam thingie? When will that be announced? And you say SE is ahead? Löl
You just cheer about you camera-phones SE chaps, atleast youīve got something you really deserve to boast with...

Yes, nokia is the major phone maker, but its major sales are in low-end segment. All people know this fact, nokia make a lot of cheap phones and cant compete with SE since T39, T68, T610, K700, K750 and now K800. Always SE make the way of the market for other companies, this is the true!!

In smartphone segment SE in wide knowed by its first class smartphones, P series beat ALL smartphones of nokia.
