Camera phones are not meant to replace point-and-shoot or DSLR.
This camera gives users far more manual control over photos. So maybe the problem is not optimized automatic settings. This camera is clearly intended more for indoor use, such as at dinner parties, bars, etc. Where a person wants to avoid flash for the most natural photo. After all, who uses zoom in an indoor space in low light? Even the best dslrs you have to spend a significant amount on good lenses and sensors.
In terms of the outdoor performance, changing to manual settings you can set ISO, shutter speed, and other settings which can significantly improve the picture quality. These are options unavailable on most camera phones. I see why real photographers comment more positively about this camera phone, because they can use the manual controls to get the best possible quality pic. Other camera phones you are at the mercy of the software choosing the best settings.
Guyzz today i got the update in ma HTC ONE M8 for kitkat 4.4.4 and htc eye experience... Updated camera features are awesome....
FYI: My phones battery just went out after 73h 40m 9s. It was constantly on saving mode (proc, screen and vibrations) played a game once which costed me 20h. Used extreme saving 2 times overnight. GPS always on, Wi-Fi/LTE always on. This is huge...
HTC (M8)is the fastest and greatest phone I've ever come across and I've got both Android and the windows phone in the HTC(M8).
The power is awesome. I love it's speed and the audio quality. Nothing comparable to my m8. And my phone has been updated to 4g too. So it's future proof too. I'm from Chennai.
When I think of plastic "toys" I think of the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX. When I think of "pretty" I think of the iPad Air. When I think of practicality and productivity, I think of Samsung. When I think of design and protection Htc does it of top-notch
SR, 05 May 2014Master of all smart phones..............If 5 inches and a bad camera are okay, then it's one of the best devices out now.
I bought this phone over S5 and am very happy with my decision.
Reasons for giving it 5 stars:
-It has a great design and build. Metal body is great and feels very premium.
-sense UI is ok; however, the optimisations done by HTC are great. The UI is super smooth and very responsive. It is even better than an IPhone.
-battery life is pretty good. It is better at times than my previous phone(Note 2)
-fast processor makes every task blazing fast
-Camera is very good for everyday use (phone is never meant to replace the DSLR)
-There is not too much bloatware
-great sound and speaker quality
-motion gestures are useful and convenient (not too many, just right)
-touch screen customisable (if rooted) navbar buttons
-The low pixel count in camera, might be a problem for some who use this as only camera
-Screen is not as Vibrant as AMOLED screens.
I would sincerely recommend this to anyone who wants to buy a high end phone.
SR, 05 May 2014Master of all smart phones..............You obviously haven't heard about the OnePlus One.
and gimmick of the year award goes to the second camera on the back of HTC M8
I am not a fan of Htc but then again this phone is great in looks, build and awesome speakers but the only thing that I dislike about is the sense ui as I am a fan of stock android and would appreciate if they would have launched the Google play edition version in India. But yes you can always root it and can flash the play edition rom and I am looking forward to swap my Nexus 5 and buy this.
Lanny, 24 Apr 2014I was initially very confused about buying which phone among the s5, z2 n m8. All 3 have some ... moreWhile Samsung is plastic have you actually looked at in person? Touched the sot touch back? It actually feels really nice. And it offers great handling and comfort.
And I agree. While some cameras are obviously better, don't believe the hate about the M8 camera. It's great for what it does. Plus those speakers rule right now.
Anonymous, 25 Apr 2014No, htc m8 camera is much better than s5.Not a chance. Have your preference, but be factual and objective.
