Nokia N73 review: Pole position

Nokia N73 review: Pole position - read the full textBeing the best equipped handset ever Nokia N73 has managed to overrun the king of all mobiles - the slider Nokia N80. It features Symbian OS, 3 megapixels backed up by the label of Carl Zeiss, USB Mass Storage, and works with office documents. Nokia N73 has a brilliant phonebook and a good time organizer as well as an exceptional Internet browser. The interest in this new Nokia phone is overwhelming worldwide.

well fisker, i too have heard tht the phone has some minor probs.. but every phone does when its released.. especially the ones from nokia.. but tht shldnt b tht big a worry.. these probs will b very minor ones which will b resolved through future firmware updates.. so i wldnt bother much abt these probs.. i myself am planning to buy a N73 soon.. have seen the phone and i loved it.. except for the looks which i thought cld have been better.. coz am using a N70 rite now and love the looks of the N70.

@ Bhusan.. N73 or K800, the choice depends on ur needs.. if u want an allround feature packed phone then n73 is the way to go.. but if ur on a budget and want a phone with a good cam and nothing else then go for the k800.. but the video recording on the k800 isnt comparable to n73.. N73 is much better than K800 in terms of video recording. If ur keen on installing 3-d games then go in for N73.. ull have more options with an N73 as its a smartphone.

And ya.. sony does have a slight advantage in music playback but the difference isnt much.. the loudspeaker on the n73 is very good and N73 is good at music playback too.. but slightly below a sony.. but the N73 is better in the rest of the features.

Hi!, since ur saying tht u need a good cam in terms of pics and video.. go in for a N73.. sony's video recording isnt good compared to the n73.. cam both r identical with the n73 taking better pics in proper lighting whereas k800i taking better pics in inadequate light.

N73 will suit ur needs the best.

I notice my N73 hangs and blanks off by itself when I receive a call from someone listed in my contacts but the problem does not arise when someone who is not in the contacts, calls. I suspect it's something to do with the Say Caller name function and so I disabled it..true enough, all calls can be received now without the phone blanking off by itself..Anyone has the same experience?

i used to have n6630, now my n73 doesn't have the features such as options to create folder in gallery, wallet where i keep my password & view offline (save) page without going on-line. Pls reply if you have the solutions. But i love the camera

This is a quote taken from the Review:

"Main Disadvantages:
Loose camera cover
Uncomfortable and cheap-looking numeric keypad
No memory card included
Slippery joystick
No Wi-Fi
Web browser does not work in landscape mode
Alarm clock is not repeated"

1-The camera cover is loose so it will slide, mine is perfect and does tap or slide on its own.

2-The keypad doesn't look cheap, it will be uncomfortable for someone using a nokia for the first time.

3-No memory card included is true, but if there was it would only be a 64mb or 128mb, £25 will get a 2gb off ebay. I know it's another expense, but if you can afford an N73, £25 isn't much.

4-Slippery joystick, untrue, unless i just tucked into fish n chips.

5-No Wi-Fi, true, but to be honest, i had a phone with Wi-Fi (N80) and i wasn't really impressed, but can be handy.

6-Web browser doesn't work in landscape mode, and too right it shouldn't, it's good in portrait mode, especially with having to alter page designs.

7-Alarm clock not repeated, simple way of solving this is to use you calender and set you time as weekly or daily.

PROBLEMS SOLVED.

Both phones have good photo quality, yeah K800 focuses in Imaging department but still it has basic functions, N73 balances all features, people will quicly judge the lack of wifi coz it is a symbian 9 phone, and the phone with OS that can match it's camera possibilities is N80 and N93(but very unhandy of it's size). I can see that this is such same as the battle between the n90 and k750/w800 before,..

i am thinking that in some other days in future other phone brands will equip schneider or leica Lumix or canon lens in their phone thereafter, likely motorola, samsung or panasonic(which i think doesn't produce phones already)...
