Cool story but even a 3.5 year old S2 can already pump 550 MB/s through its RAM. Current top Android phones (especially the N4, which is powerful enough to drive 4k displays) many times that amount. Silly assumptions with your GPU 2x theory are hilarious though.
X, 27 Sep 2014Are you sure? Apple uses the fastest Flash memory on the market(900MB/s), from Samsung neverth... moreUm. So much nonsense it's hard to pick a starting point, but here's the first hint.
The Note 4 has 3 GB quad channel (let that sink in for a while...) RAM. Your quoted 450 MB/s max is way off.
harlekkin, 28 Sep 2014When did Apple "fans" EVER mock Android for specs? Never. iPhone has always had lowe... moreUser experience?
Apple users never experience the ease of b/t transfer. Apple users never experience usb otg. Apple users never experience drag and drop files without itunes. And the list goes on and on.
Apple users only started to experience nfc while android already have it for years. And they only started to experience a phone with more than 4 inch screen. Pity..
User experience? Haha.. You really made my day.
No matter the competition, if you put it up against ios for me loses (but i don't want either to disappear so as to keep the prices in check). I have both devices and i notice that i am using apple more often. There are a lot of factors you can consider but at the end of the day it is how you use the device for productivity or entertainment not by the amount of customizations you can do (i don't spend my day only doing customizations since the screen always sit behind an app say facebook or a game anyways). And the apps alone speaks for themselves. Between my 2 devices, i always get frustrated when the app i'm currently into in ios is not available in android. I never felt it the other way around. I was ready to buy the flagship android vs iphone 6 but before doing so, i had to do a quick check of the apps i will be getting. You guessed it, it was a deal breaker for me for android and i ended up with iphone 6. I can buy both but i know i will be using the apple again more than the android one. Though i really like the z3 and then the note 4 (which i can both easily buy along with the iphone 6). When it comes to specs, the impression for me is that it takes android a deal amount of specs just to make it run smooth like ios using less specs.

User experience beats specs my friend.

MdN8, 27 Sep 2014Mono sound in video recording? What is this? Even VHS supported stereo sound.Depends how good the noise(wind, car/plane engine, air conditioning, etc) cancelling and directional sound reception is(usually you want to record the sound that comes from the front of the phone more that the sound coming from the sides).

Apple uses the fastest Flash memory on the market(900MB/s), from Samsung nevertheless. The others use cheaper 450Mb/s Flash, including Samsung. That 1GB of RAM btw, is sufficient to load a BMP picture of 18.257x18.257 pixels at 16 Million colours(24bit/pixel) or 166 full HD 1080p screens. And you need at most 60 full HD screens per second on a full HD screen. On a 2K screen you'll need double than that(120 full HD screens per second) and still you have place to spare on that 1GB of RAM. The problem arrises when you need to replace that data from the RAM. On the iPhone 6 you can do it in a second, but you need to replace only less than half of it(for 60 screens, for iPhone 6 Plus).
On the Android Phones you can replace only 450MB of data / second, or about 70-80 fullHD screens. If you replace data for 60 screens you have for spare data only for 10-20 screens. And guess what? For 2K screens, the Flash on the Android phones is too slow to transfer data for 60fps, no matter the RAM size(once the RAM fills up, you need to replace old data). So it transfers less in fact(1K at most) and the GPU just scales it to 2K.
Anonymous, 27 Sep 2014but Iphone 6 kick Z3C in the ass on GFX benchmark. Iphone 6 is much-2 stronger than Z3C.That synthetic graphics benchmark is going to be a lot of use to you when your Web pages keep having to reload due to having half the RAM. Let's also not forget that a proportion of that RAM is required for graphics memory, and you have less of it :P
Tim, 27 Sep 2014Your Android device is not as safe as Apple let alone Blackberry. If a director of Google sta... moreTim, you are fascinating:
my entire argument was about something else: that you, Tim, are not important. I don't want to hurt your feelings. I want you to understand that security is not as important as BB and Apple guys want you to think.
Look, a simple exercise:
imagine that nobody cares for me. I go to the store to buy a phone. I have 45 features to choose from. Security is no. 26. Should I choose it? Hmmm, no, because I should give up features no 1-10 and 30-45.
Or, in more simple words: if I want to sell you a product which has only some features, I should be insane to speak with you about other potential features. Instead, I would organize a national campaign, explaining each and every one how important they are to me. Then, I would instill some more fear about potential threats. Then, I would present to you the new, EXTRA SECURE BB or Apple phone. Perfect.
You create the context, you create the need, and then you sell the product that covers that need. It's called basic marketing.
The sooner you will understand this, the sooner you will challenge that fear of yours, the better.
