Sony Ericsson W850 review: A Walkman with a slide - read the full textSony Ericsson W850 is the next Walkman phone, but this time it comes in the slider form factor. It boasts a large display with QVGA resolution, full 3G capabilities with video calls, a 2 megapixel camera and the latest Walkman 2.0 music player. It’s an expensive mobile to start with but hopes are that it’s got more than needed to become a bestseller.

does anybody know what's the difference between W850 and W830? i think it's onlu 3G camera in front of it.am i right?

I target this phone since last year.Now I am using the W800i and my next target is W850i.Wat a unique walkman phone is this.I hope my mum give me as my birthday present
I wish.
I like this phone better than K810i

hello..i am usin a W850i i bought it a few months back..and now wen i take pictures and save it to the memory card it doesnt get saved..but in da phone memory it does get saved..can any1 tell me wat da problem is??

Replying to the message about whether to get Nokia 6300 or Sony Ericsson's W850i, I suggest W850i. Because Sony Ericsson has the advantage of utilizing Sony's technologies in Camera wise and most of all MP3 player. The sound is top-notch! You can choose equalizer settings from voice to Mega Bass in which is Sony's trade mark. It sounds even better than most other MP3 players on the market. Although the camera is not so great, but 2 mega pixels is all you need for a phone cam. You can always get a proper camera like one of you said. Besides, I used the K800i's 3.2 mp cam, it wasn't such a big difference. S.E's menu are easy to use, the themes are great, memory stick is always more adaptable than San Disks. W850i displays your music's album art while playing the song. It's compact and it's unique cause it's got a nice sliding mechanism built in. Overall design and user interface such as video call gives you total satisfaction. The quick buttons at the top allows you to browse your picture album with just a touch. I've used S.E and Nokia, but everytime I own a Nokia, I couldn;t wait 'til I switched back to another S.E.mobile. Don't know much 'bout the 6300, but hey, it's your choice!

i love the phone. Had it for about 2 months and i'll keep it for another 2 years until something better comes along. great phone, i have no hasstles with it - the camera issue.. yes, it's not a great camera, but if you want good photo quality, go get yourself a proper camera :)

I have had this phone for 3 days and really really love it !

but the only thing that bugs me is that when the slider is open and you press the d-pad it feels a little loose. One of my friends has the phone and hers does it as well

is this common or it is a fault and I should I return the phone ??

is it loose for anybody else ?

ive had this phone for 2 weeks and ive been without it for three!
a friend of mine also has one and he is on his second phone already looking at getting a new one soon.i'll be getting mine back or a new one soon!All 3 phones had the same problemthe speaker in the earpiece started to distort.its just too much of a coincidince!!!has this happened to a lot of other people?

i have had this phone two weeks its a great phone but is still squaks and i can not delete the songs from walkman side of it except for that and a day of insert sim and switching it self off and straight back in its fine

GSMArena.com team , i m very sad about what u said about the navigation keys of the W850i !!

i dont know what is bad in it!?
i really got used to it in about 2 days,,, & i found it very clever from SE to make it like that coz slider design wont like soft keys at that place .. , am i right or not ??

hey this is a great phone. i just love the way it looks. i got a black one but soon il have a white one. the white looks much better. i still prefer my W900-white over any other sony i haad. the W850 keypad is just a bit to stiff. you must really watchout for spelling errors when you type a msg. other than that its very spifffffff.

Well im happy with the phone but not with the camera. The result is not that good for the camera :(

How do u delete tracks from the play queue in da w850i ? Sounds simple, i know, but they always come back, like Arnie! I don't wanna listen to da same tunes, all da time, over and over again.
This is da only fault i've really found with da phone, but i've only had it 2 weeks!

To anyone who's just read the review. The review is pretty much spot on, except that a) My w850i slider mechanism/keypad does not make any creeking noises. b) The directional pad is only hard to press at first, after a week or so of good solid usage, mine seemed to lighten up and am quite comfortable with it now. c) My phone did not ship with the river rafting game or the music DJ software.
Maybe theres been a few changes since the review.
I've been through a lot of phones, and just got rid of an o2 atom smartphone, which was replaced with this, and I could'nt be happier. Its the best phone I've ever had yet, hands down.

i like the fone, dont get me wrong. but i found a load of things wrong with it.

if u go have a picture and set it as nomal size, thats fair enough. but if u rest the same picture as your background but max it. there is still bits of the older, smaller pic in places. also if u "queue" songs from diffrent artest on the player and when its finnished and try to play a diffrent band it replays the songs in hte queue.

its very annoying.

I am on my second 850i, the speaker broke, the ear piece reception was very distorted and difficult to hear anyone when in phone mode, and the keypad lights stopped working. The second phone also has poor sound quality when in phone mode? Anyone else have these problems?
