Nokia 5300 review: Hop on the music express
Being part of the revamped XpressMusic line, the Nokia 5300 is expressive more than ever and is one great example of how you can have fun with your mobile phone. The dedicated music keys make a sure statement about the music-orientation of the handset. If the price is right, it really sounds like a good bargain, right? Well, you are not far from the truth.

This mobile is TOO WEAK, It's slide the cover and start to move, drop in a carpet and the glass is gone. DON'T BUY IT. I think it's a swindle of Nokia, in the shop they told me Nokia knows this faults but they're continue selling this phone. The battery is for 48 hours, NO for 223 hours like 'spec', with no games, no music, only 3 phone call (6:32 minutes) and 8 SMS received. I only have Nokia phones and I continue with this idea, but now I desperate with piece of ....

I have it, for a month already , and absolutely love it!
The keypad is great for texting, what i mainly do.
The screen is gorgeous, the UI friendly and fast.
I love that when i listen to music or radio and a call comes, the music pauses to let the call come thru, and once over it resumes :)
the battery is kinda shortlived, stays for 2 days... i was wondering is it because i keep playing with the phone, or because it is.. well, basically crap...haven't decided yet.
i'm trying a new way of extending battery life, by pressing the red button for 3 sec after i lock the keypad, it makes the backlght go out very fast, instead of staying for 15 and more seconds.
hope it will work.
I really wish Nokia could address this issue with the backlit screen in further software upgrades.
Apart from that, I love the phone!!

To all those with questions about the nokia 5300 i love this phone, i find it to be one of the best phones, the screen does scratch easy but so would the screen on any other phone, insurance is a good suggestion but not a requirement, it mostly varies on how the phone it treated, i drop mine sometimes but nothing terrible has happened and i plan to keep it that way, but if you do fear dropping it hard, there is many protective cases that fit on the phone perfect and can give it a new look. I am curious as to one thing, i've looked all over the web to find differet colors of this phone and have only found: Black, Red, and Lilac, if you have a different color Tell ME! over all THIS PHONE KICKS ASS!!!

TO ANYONE WHO IS CONSIDERING TO BUY THE NOKIA 5300 READ THIS!!!HI... I would like to respond to the person who commented about the nokia 5300 being made in Hungary and how the phone is not very durable.I have to totally agree. agree!! I bought this phone and instantly fell in love with it. I mean its a really cool phone but... I only had it for 3 weeks and i accidentally droped it once( not event that hard) and the screen cracked and the phone is complety done (unless I want to spend alot of money sending it in to Nokia to see if they can fix it, and wait at least a week) SO my advice, if your kinda a clutz like me I don't recommend this phone because it breaks waaaay too easy. And if you go ahead and buy this phone make sure you get insurance!!!

Hey all..firstly I wanna express my big admiration for the GSMArena site, it's really my favourite site as I'm a big mobile phones maniac :)
and I truly appreciate the big efforts of the GSMArena team..they really make the most objective and detailed mobile phone reviews online!
However, I've got a remark that I hope most people would be aware of..in their comments on the announcement of the Xpress Music line from nokia the gsmarena team said that "the flagship of this trio is undoubtedly the 5300"...well, I've got to point out though that the 5300 (and 5200) is made in Hungary (see the pic with back cover removed in 5300's review) which logically means that it would have a lower quality than the Finnish-made ones as the 3250 xpress music for example..I personally had a bad experience with those Hungarian-made nokias..they have a weak construction and they look quite cheap! let alone the fact that they've got nothing to do with durability!! (notice that in their review of 5300 the gsmarena team states that it has cheap looks and plays a little when closed)
Nokia has always delegated making budget, low-end phones to Hungary so I don't seem to understand why such is the case with a phone that is a member of a family which is supposed to strongly compete with the walkman series from SE! what I'm saying is that if any music-maniac nokia fan out there is looking for a durable, high-quality handset with an OS and a relatively reasonable price then he definitely should go for the 3250 Xpress Music, not the 5300..or if he's got enough budget then maybe one of the N-series Music Edition phones would suit him. I really hope my point would be taken into consideration..just for the sake of customers' peace of mind! So, any replies or comments from you guys?

Hi
I want to ask something about nokia 5300. I live in Turkey. For us nokia 5300 is a new phone. Some of the user complain about the slider of the phone. They say because of the slider the screen of the phone can be broke very very easily. I had a huge desire for buying this phone but I get confuse about this reason. Can anyone help me? Is there a real screen problem or is it just a rumour? Does it really break up easily? Thanks

ABOUT UI: 5300 has Symbian 40 3rd edition, service pack1 - it looks like S60. It supports Flash Lite 1.2 - it means that to every image which is skinable eg. wallpaper, ICON, button You can assign animation (*.swf). All U just need is Nokia Series 40 Theme Studio 2.2 (3w . forum .nokia .com) and MacromediaFlash 2004 or newer with flashlite plugin. Also U can play FlashLite games. Skinable parts also support SVG vector graphics and PNG 24bit, but nowdays it is nothing new.
