So many missing features. it's one step forward and three steps back.
Compared to the S5:
-No micro-SD slot.
-No removable battery.
-Pricey memory upgrade.
Everything I hated about the iPhone except it's Android. Don't bother with this phone, nobody cares about slightly increased specs since all phones do that every year.
vampyren, 18 Mar 2015Pretty useless to go over 1080p for such a small screen, had they not used QHD the battery and... morepeople like you said the same about 4k TVs below 60". Now look. It all depends on how close you look, and how good your eyes are. Apparently you missed the PPI test GSM arena posted a while back to see how high resolution your eyes would need for what you used. I myself scored like high 500s. So don't tell us what you THINK we need.
When you address the audio quality, you should either be crystal clear about whether you're talking about loud speaker or headphones attached, or you can just divide it into two separate categories.

And negate that GSM's test is a pre production and differs from many other tests.

Anonymous, 19 Mar 2015real time hdrI hope Samsung has done better than just slap real time HDR on the S6.
HDR is great for the right shots, but it can also be a detriment under certain conditions.
DanBal76, 18 Mar 2015It seems to me that, with the Galaxy S6, Samsung tried to please Apple fans. Well, Apple fans ... moreFirst line of your comment revealed that You are a icrap fanboy , if you don't buy s6 there s nothing going to happen already they got 20mln orders , so Please Stay Away .

GSM Arena Galaxy S6 review: "The battery life was a bit of a question mark hanging over the Samsung Galaxy S6, considering the screen resolution has nearly doubled and the battery capacity was downgraded to 2,550 mAh. It still sounds like a pretty ample battery, but we were curious how it compares to the stellar Lollipop endurance of its predecessor.
As it turns out, we were right to be worried as the Galaxy S6 posted lesser performance on all of our test compared to the Galaxy S5."
vampyren, 18 Mar 2015Pretty useless to go over 1080p for such a small screen, had they not used QHD the battery and... moreThe use of QHD is noticeable with proper content. And the display is 20% more power efficient than the 1080p of the S5. It's more energy efficient than the old 5s 4inch non HD display.
And the Note 4's 5.7 inch QHD Amoled is up to 40% more efficient than most 5 inch 1080p LCDs.
And it's basically a requirement for their Gear VR.
So that's debunked.
And the SoC is a lot more efficient and way more powerful. So that debunks both at once.
This is a pre production battery review.
Plus the DDR4 ram is more powerful and more efficient.
And their new memory is way more powerful and overall efficient.
Plus their all on one radio chip saves tons of energy and boosts performance.
So it's it's large power gains with large efficiency gains.
Geekbench battery test put it at 8 1/2 hours compare to the almost 5 hours of the S5. And that's intensive tasks.
sgodsell, 18 Mar 2015The S6 processor is using 35% less power then the previous S5. The new and much faster DDR4 ... moreWrong.. You have a single point of failure the MHL charging port. Once that goes all you've got is the internet and bluetooth for transfers - if it's available or fast enough.
No redundancy without a microsim card means no money from me. Same goes for the battery.
I'll stick with my S2 for now.
barameus, 18 Mar 2015"very significant leap forward"

I returned the S5 because the dynamic range sucked: it blasted out light areas while loosing detail in dark areas. Ended up with an Xperia for a bit, which was better, but not great.
Currently I have the iPhone 6+ as my main phone and it's the best phone I've ever used, taking noticeably better photos than the S5, and also than the Xperia.
The S6 looks really good in the reviews so far, with both the camera and the fingerprint sensor issues found on the S5, seemingly resolved.
Thus, leaps and bounds over the S5.
Anonymous, 18 Mar 2015Now that they have brought in samsung pay.. I just hope that next year they don't bring S Tune... moreHow is Samsung pay a ripoff when it's better than apple pay? I've never seen an NFC payment Centre in my country which makes apple pay obselete but those point of sale bank machines which Samsung pay uses are everywhere.
Pretty useless to go over 1080p for such a small screen, had they not used QHD the battery and performance would have been better and users would have benefited more.
Sadly Samsung added the QHD just to brag sadly, other then that and the sad removal of SD card i think the S6 is pretty sweet.
DanBal76, 18 Mar 2015It seems to me that, with the Galaxy S6, Samsung tried to please Apple fans. Well, Apple fans ... moreThe S6 processor is using 35% less power then the previous S5. The new and much faster DDR4 ram (1552 MHz) is using 34% less energy. Plus the new emmc 5.1 storage is using 50% less energy. When you factor in all these power savings its no wonder why Samsung put a smaller battery in (2550 mha) then the previous S5 (2800 mha). It helps to look at the technical specs as well, before making comments like yours.
Also micro SD slot is no problem in today's world especially since there is plenty of options where you can use micro SD cards externally. Like USB otg cable, or a $10 micro USB to micro SD slot. There are a number of portable WiFi storage units out there as well. One that comes to mind is the Sandisk Connect for $50, which allows you to use micro SD cards. Its so small that you can just leave it always attached to your key chain, wallet, pocket, bag, or briefcase.
[deleted post]While I wanted to agree with you, you went all the wrong ways.
First of all.. Storage is memory and 90% of the time referred to as so. Period.
Yes there was not mention of DDR4 I think, but M9 has it, G4 will have it, Z4 will have, G Flex 2 has it.
The new storage is UFS II. Higher than Emmc 5.1 and they reviewed it an added it in the review two days ago.
And they mention not having an sd card as being a compromise on any device that does not have one...because it is.
Dododo, 18 Mar 2015I don't pretend....
But it looks like Samsung finally got the camera right, as well as the ... moreMeanwhile your entire statement proves otherwise. And not only that, but you know just as little about phones.
The S6 is the first Galaxy you PREFER.
Samsung has always been among the top with the Galaxy.
It seems to me that, with the Galaxy S6, Samsung tried to please Apple fans. Well, Apple fans will still buy the iPhone, and Galaxy S fans, like myself, will probably stay away from the S6. No user replaceable battery. No micro sd card slot. No water or dust resistance. Worse battery autonomy than S5, and even S4. Same screen size, with slightly better screen to body ration than S5, but still worse than S4. QHD resolution just for marketing purposes (any screen until 6" looks phenomenal in 1080p, with the benefit of less stress to the chipset and battery). Thank you Samsung, but no thanks. I'll stay with my Galaxy S5.
Now that they have brought in samsung pay.. I just hope that next year they don't bring S Tunes or S Cloud or some crappy ripoff like that :p
