Sony Ericsson P1 review: A smart sharp-shooter
The Sony Ericsson P1 is an exciting new smartphone that is to be included in Sony Ericsson portfolio. Powered by Symbian OS and featuring a QWERTY keyboard, a touchscreen TFT display with QVGA resolution and a 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus, it represents the next level of the development of UIQ smartphones. As such, it seems that the Sony Ericsson P1 will be the flagship of Sony Ericsson smartphone line overrunning even the Sony Ericsson P990 and we were more than curious to find out how it performed in real life.

In the task manager you don't have to terminate the apps one by one, tap "More" then "End all". Apart from that great review

Sony Ericsson P900 was a brilliant phone. P1 is a disaster I've had two (1 new & 1 replacement) & they both had problems backing up. Error messages would appear saying that the phone cancelled the backup. Sony Ericsson were extremely unhelpful about this. Can anybody help me here???

I just bought this phone and am very pleased with it. For me the keyboard is very convienent and fast though others may find it a bit confusing. A few problems I'm having with the phone are that the alarm will not sound when it is in silent mode, there is no way to delete recently used contacts in messaging and the battery life is not so good. I've heard that new batteries need time to reach their full life span but I've been through three charging cycles already. I keep bluetooth, 3G and WLAN off as well. Any advice? Thank you!!! Also does anyone know the latest firmare? Mine is R9J005...

A question for all those that actually have one of these:
Does this phone continue the P-series trend of resizing images within a received MMS down to 160x120px or less?

in reply to the question about anti virus.Firstly "all OS-based phones" encompasses all phones, not just smartphones, as all ohones run on an operating system. It is true that symbian phones can recieve viruses, but they are extremely rare at the moment, and can ONLY install themsleves on your if you say yes when it asks u to install 'a mysterious application'. i have had a nokia N73 (symbian based) and installed 100s of applications created by untrusted sources, and my antivirus software has never beeped, or mentioned anything. this means one of 2 things: viruses are so rare, there is no point having anti virus software, or the antivirus doesnt work so theres no point buying it.

I've had my P1 for about 2 weeks now, Does anyone with the P1 think that the reception is not so good? I just replaced a W810 which was awesome. I also never really used the web on any of my other phones, but as for the P1 it seems kinda slow. The P1 is pretty cool but reception, web, and switching between applications is a bit slow. Anyone experiencing this?
