Sony Ericsson P1 review: A smart sharp-shooter

Sony Ericsson P1 review: A smart sharp-shooter - read the full textThe Sony Ericsson P1 is an exciting new smartphone that is to be included in Sony Ericsson portfolio. Powered by Symbian OS and featuring a QWERTY keyboard, a touchscreen TFT display with QVGA resolution and a 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus, it represents the next level of the development of UIQ smartphones. As such, it seems that the Sony Ericsson P1 will be the flagship of Sony Ericsson smartphone line overrunning even the Sony Ericsson P990 and we were more than curious to find out how it performed in real life.

Note to SE,
My job takes me almost around the world, so is it possible to make the next generation of the P-1 or what ever SE choose to call it,
Be the only system I need to have with me in work and travel. !
Ex; 1- Phone that can be used anywhere in the world.
2- Internet device with deferent internet connection options that works also anywhere in the world.
3- Good (still & video) camera so I don’t have to carry one with me in my travel since it’s a job requirement.
4- Since I travel a lot then the GPS will be very handy to me.
5- Ease of use system to make my life simple.
I expect big company like SE judging from their past experience; will be able to deliver such system

Why would someone buy this when the W960 is being released a few months later. The W960 does everything this phone does, except the business card copying feature and the semi qwerty keypad.
The only benefit about this phone is that this phone is released in Q3, and my current contract ends in Q3. Hurry up and release the W960 already Sony!!!! (8gb, 3.2, touch screen, dream phone!!!!)

I totally disaggree with your Keyboard oopinion. I have an M600 and after the same amount of time found the keyboard very usable and can write quickly and accurately. at first it bent my head! but to say you cannot achieve multitap speed is pretty extreme! I get about 28 wpm out of it

Some typo error in previous comment

to p4 :
so we buy phone for longer talk time is worth it?
and also buy a phone with a slow processor so have more loading* time and more talk time, like that is more worth right?

I live and work in a barely closed environment, with over 50 high-power PCs and servers, so do I really need P1? Certainly not. I can afford it, yes, but even Nokia 1100 could do the job for me pretty well. However, I still enjoy my P990 :D

I have recently aquired a P990i. Reading all of the reviews on the P990i and the P1 I have found that I will be definately staying with the P990i. The visual asthetics of this phone do nothing for me - the processing power is the same, it is just a rebadged rehash to make up for SE inadequacy. Get you SH%T together SE, I have been a P series user since they came out, the P1 is a joke.
