Samsung U700 review: Ultra fit

Samsung U700 review: Ultra fit - read the full textBrilliant QVGA display, HSDPA, 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, memory card and many other functions in a fashionably slim shape. Samsung U700, a.k.a Samsung Ultra 12.1, is one of the four slim models in the Ultra Edition II Series. The number indication 12.1 refers to the body thickness in millimeters. The U700 model is the slimmest slider ever to support high-speed data transfers over HSDPA.

I transferred the file via bluetooth, then deleted it on the comuter before i had installed any software (which btw is supposed to work). Then when i went back on the phone, it was still there, but in a greyish colour and now i was unable to delete it or play it... So i tried to plug it in to the computer again and delete it from there, but it didn't show up in the folder. Then i came up with the bright idea to transfer the file via bluetooth again, and it worked! :D Now the file showed up as it should, and i could delete it properly!

Just make a file with the same name as the one showing in grey, and copy it over to the phone either via bluetooth or USB.

How do you show the Album Art for the songs you're playing?
It is not sufficient to just put a *.jpg file there...
Guess it has to be named something special... Anyone know?

I have the U700, the phone itself it pretty good...unlees you like you use it for MP3's or video.
The media player has no equalizer and sounds flat and hollow.
The video player WILL NOT play video at the screens native 320x240 res. Max res is 176x144 i think. If you try to play a 320x240 video it will display "unsupport resolution"
Also the menu system is very slow compared to a D900.

I would give this phone 5/10 due to its poor media player and slow menu speed.

This phone looks great!
I am so impreseed by its slim size with great function!
When will it be released?
In fact, I am considering which to buy, U700 or 6500 slide. It seems they are comparable with very similar function.
What I concern may be the appearance, battery life and the durability of the phone. Which one would be better?

Is there a way of turning vibrate on when the profile's on normal? It only vibrates on silent - doens't really help when the phone's in my bag & I can't hear it!

Also, is there a way of preventing the phone from locking every 2 seconds after I've unlocked it? It's rather annoying - this is my Samsung phone - it's definitely not as user friendly as the Nokias, or as well equipped as the Sony's.

I've got the U700.
I'm unable to control the sound of the alarm, when it's on soundless? I would like to have it this way, when im sleeping...
I would really like to be able to change the touch buttons shortcuts, and the blue button in the middle :/

I'm still using the X820. T9 works perfectly well for me - i press the 0/+ button to change 'of' to 'me' seemlessly. What are you guys talking about? My concern is the battery life. How long does it hold up?

Looks a great phone - just a couple of things. Is there an option of 'recent recipients' when sending a text?

And PLEASE PLEASE tell me they've decided to turn the phone back light off when the phone's charging? Or at least make it an option?!

Hi, i got the Samsung U700 one day ago ;) Only been playing around in the menues and configuring it so far, so not much i can tell about it yet... The manual isn't that good, some info missing, for example some icons popping up, aren't explained in the manuel... no biggy though :P
Can't use my own sounds for text tone.
Can't get the operatorlogo away from the screen (grrr :P)
Noticed a bug in the mp3 program. If i deleted a few mp3/wma files on the phone from the computer, they turned grey on the phone and i couldn't get rid of them or use em =/
None of these really bother me at all :P so i'm a happy buyer so far, and pretty sure it'll stay that way...

@Toto, yes you are right, to get the CIF resolution you must set it first. Some of the posters are d_mb and whatever. They are not like we who configure everything in a matter of second.

I am pretty sure they made a mistake in the review regarding the video resolution : to be able to get cif resolution you first have to change the message size limit, like the for U600

One click will change "of" to "me".
You are using the same keys for 2 words. Isnt it fair to have both the options to slect from??? I think you missed that sonny.

Sonny, before you comment on a phone again, please ensure that you can actually use the phone properly. when using T9 input with respect to the D900, or any other samsung phone for that matter, when you do you typing, if you dont get the word you desire, then u press the down navigation key for another word, if its still not the word you want, press down again. its that simple.

how can this ph video res lower than D900? I used D900 and it take gd quality video mp4 format at 320x240. and frankly speaking, the features on this ph is almost the same as D900 except 3G ofcourse. I used D900 and few samsung models so I know well abt samsung. they have some limitations. but overall, its great because samsung is the only manufacturer who try to squeeze features into extreme sleek and stylish designs.
