Hello guys, i need your suggestion. i've been wanting this phone from last year. and now i got the chance to buy the phone while travelling to HK, the price is around $300 and maybe could still get lower(if i could i would like to get the 6gb ram version) . Should i get the axon 7 while i can or.. wait for mi 6 that won't be come sooner to my country? i'll be back to Indonesia until this friday.
I am typing this from my new Axon 7. The phone had pretty rough start due to immature software at launch. Most of the issues are fixed now. I must also say that my phone is way louder than what you got in your tests. The reason is that European version had turned down max volume on headphones for some reason. This restriction was removed with Android 7.0 update. Now the phone is loud enough at 70% on my 65 ohm headphones.
I gotta still check out low light photos but camera leaves a very good impression on me. There were also some fixes for fingerprint reader, which works now in 90 % of uses on my first day of having this phone.
This phone presents a really good value,
I'm currently looking for a phone which has a good quality speaker aside from this phone. Any suggestions?
Anonymous, 31 Oct 2016With Axon 7's focus on audio and dedicated audio chips/dac's onboard I must say I'm very confu... moreTesting the frequency response of an audio player is not the only way to judge audio quality. But if you are trying to compare hardware in an objective way then the human ear is a crappy measurement tool. So many people may like how the Axon 7 sounds and that doesn't mean it has a perfect frequency response. Most people prefer hearing their music slightly modified from a flat frequency response. There are many reasons for it. But the only 100% way to be certain if you like how an audio player/speaker combination sounds is to listen to it for yourself. Now if you find someone who has similar taste in equipment then you can get reasonably good recommendations from them. If you have an Axon 7 and like it then just enjoy it. But if you care about having a perfectly flat frequency response then maybe you should keep searching. I am sure it sounds good and unless you are really picky you probably wouldn't notice the difference. There are few people on the planet that probably could.

I have the Axon 7, several stand alone music players, and out-board DACs. This phone beats them all. Instrument separation is incrediable. I've done back to back comparisons and there is no doubt about the results. I could use its output as a source for my main system and be happy.
I went to AT&T when my Iphone 6 crapped out (Thanks, Apple) and they sold me a ZTE to fill the gap in between the Iphone replacement. The ZTE sucks. Each of the apps - whether email or text or anything - crashes constantly. Trying to make a phone call is a nightmare. It's no wonder they sold it to me for $36. Nothing is free in life. Stay away from this paperweight.

The setting is buried in the Sounds menu, under "Headset HiFi", with options for "Standard" and "Super". It was probably left in "Standard", hence the poor results.
I've had the ZTE Axon 7 for 3 weeks and it's been great. The camera is better than I heard, the speakers are the best out there and it's buttery smooth. Of course with all phone there's a few thing I dislike like the buttons not back lite. But overall it's worth way more than the price.
The Axon 7 desperately needs Nougat! I have had a taste of CM14 and I can't wait to have it on my Axon. Great hardware needs great software.
With Axon 7's focus on audio and dedicated audio chips/dac's onboard I must say I'm very confused about the audiopart of this review. All other review's I have read praises the Axon 7 in the audio compartment. In one of the tests I read the test panel had to rewrite the scale in the way they test audio, because Axon 7 went over the scale in that department!!
Is it possible that there was an error or fault with the device GSMArena testet?
Please GSMArena! If you have the opertunity, please rerun your audiotest with another device!
bicpug, 29 Oct 2016No fm radio is unforgivable as it has to be disabled, why do cheap phones leave it on but as s... morebecause the market thinks that if you can pay 400$ or more on a smartphone then you have money to pay streaming music apps like spotify, that's why they disable this feature in top phones and not on the low-mid range phones.
I dont understand the low audio rating in the review when everyone seems to be praising this phone for its audio capabilities with its dedicated audio chip, what are we missing here?
UK buyers should buy from Amazon.de, not Amazon.co.uk...it's about £60 cheaper even with the postage.
No fm radio is unforgivable as it has to be disabled, why do cheap phones leave it on but as soon as you're into $400 territory they disable it.
Most probably the ZTE Axon 7 is the most value for money phone/phablet of 2016, & probably even more. And considering that it includes much of the high end specs for the low price of just $399 or so, it is the true flagship killer
xl5, 28 Oct 2016This review confuses me. I had this phone for a month. The audio was fantastic through headpho... moreYou wouldn't happen to have a new test result for the audio chip performance? I'd like to see the graph. The phone is interesting, but I wish it had a bigger screen. :/
