This is my sad story with the Nokia 6120c.

First of all let me explain that I´m not a Symbian newcomer, 6120c has been my third Symbian s60, so I´m pretty familiar with such toys.
I bought my 6120 classic for christmas, because the feature set and the weight seemed impressive for the price point ( arround 250 euro ).
My first impression was that althoutgh the mobile was fast and nice, the build quality was worse than my previous S60s (N70 and n-gage). This was specially evident in some plastic pieces: The battery cover was like 1mm loose in all directions and the plastic cover for the loudspeaker was a little weak also... But anyway I was pretty satisfied of my purchase.

After a couple of days the phone started to have random problems with the sound. The mobile vibrated but no sound appear from the loudspeaker neither from
the earpiece. The phone was not even able to reproduce sounds even in the music player or in the modes screen. The only way to recover It was to turn on and off the phone. And no! the phone was not in silent mode :) After searching on google I was able to find that it was not an isolated case, the net is full of such reports, References:

This is such annoying failure because you loose calls as you can not hear the caller, you need to reboot the phone and call later...
After 4 or 5 incidents in two weeks I started look for a new firmware after noticing that there was no new firmware in NSU. The only thing that I was able to find was that there was a new version 4.21 that appeared on early December but was pulled in a hurry from the NSU servers after 3 or 4 days ( I'm myself a firmware engineer and I know what this means ... :) ).

Last Monday January 7th tired of problems I returned to the shop and after explaining the story, the shop manager give me a new one. The funny thing was that he asked me if my Sim card was old. He claimed that the phone had problems with old sim cards... After googling a little i was able to find some references to that in Italian forums...

http://forum.telefonino.net/sh...785&page=344

The new phone had also problems with plastic pieces, again the loose battery cover and now the memory card door was loose and produced a rattling noise on vibration... Again I could accept that, I wanted the mobile. After a week the phone has done the same than the previous one several times, today... 3 times!
Again I have checked for new firmware but the only thing that I have found is that Nokia has even pulled the support of 6120c from NSU. Hey this guys are having a real problem...
Not knowing what to do I have decided to give Nokia a late chance and call the care line in spain 902404414 to contact an operator and ask if the issue was known and Nokia was doing something. The guy seemed to know nothing, and was absolutely uninterested, the only answer was go to the care point and install new firmware. On my question of if there was a new firmware he answered that he did not know... He was unable to log a case to any escalation team, he said to me to send an email throught the web...
Tomorrow I´m back to the shop to have a refund... I do not want another unit. I´m totally dissapointed. Nokia you have lost a good customer, a fan...

For your info
Both mobiles were 6120c-1 rm-243 Firmware 3.83 B1.04, the sim is a brand new one from the spanish operator Yoigo and I am using a sandisk sd micro of 2GB.

Hi,
I just bought one. I was thrilled with my new toy, but it lasted only 3 days. It just froze and reboot when receiving a call. Thinking it was just an incident I ignored it. Two days later no sound when trying to call somebody. Rebooting was a fix. Yesterday happend twice. Very annoying. Whenever I try to call or I'm called by somebody it's just silence. I have to reboot the phone. I found this problem hanging on nokia's forums since september. They did nothing to fix it. I hope it will be fixed at the repair center. I'm so dissapointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I recently received the phone as an upgrade from Three, having had a Nokia 6280. I am very pleased with it, well featured and so far reliable.

Two things I'd like to get sorted:
1. How can you change the icon-links on the main screen? It currently shows links from ebay etc which I'd like to change.

2. Is it possible to turn off the startup sound?

was on the market for a new phone.. two options: 6120 and 6300.. Friend of mine asked me.. right, do u want fast internet acess or a higher resolution to view pics of your boyfriend?
my 1st reaction, was the higher resolution, but then realised that the 6120 offers you video calling as well as HSDPA.. which is great if u in a long distance relationship.
its an awesome phone, i havnet had it long, but i dont wanna be without it.. only thing that i think should have been included on the phone is a slide to cover the camera, other than that, this is a type of phone for all those who are starting to build a career.. it offers you all you need and it provides it in a sleek, compact and stylish way!!

Hey 6120 users
Plz help me, I had been looking to buy N73 since last month, but now this phone has arrived...I compromise for Camera quality (N.p) for the sake of high speed..but plz tell me if it is better than N73 especially Sound quality, As N73 has 3D sound stereo speakers, so if 6120c can be better than that???

The phone is great as a whole, but what is written in the review that it lasts for 4-5 days is totally wrong. I have no idea how the reviewer did this. I am in WCDMA/UMTS network and even if I only use the alarm in the morning and a game of solitaire before going to sleep and just a few minutes of talk. It barely last till the end of the second day. Not to mention what happens if I decide to use more of the "smart" functions. I love the phone, but the battery life is ridiculously short, especially in a 3G network. I really hope that Nokia or some other manufacturer releases a higher capacity battery compatible with this phone. I am sure that a lot of owners will be getting a new battery if that happens

this is teh best phone ever!!!!

fastest interface on a symbian phone
the smallest & lighest symbian phone

great cam...better than whats showed in the review pics
great sound...no comment abt it in the review:???
though theres only a 2.5mm jack the provided headphones are quite good...and u can always buy a 3.5mm adapter to use 3.5mm headphones :D

Has 3.5G...thats the best thing

Latest Symbian :: 9.2 UI s60 3.1 FP1

theres no PC suite provided .. thats bad but you can download one off the net and it will install all necessary drivers :D

plz tell me how to use my PC's net connection in the Mobile...my EDGE tariffs are expensive...and theres no 3g in pakistan
