To GSM Arena: I'm planning on buying this phone, but now that I've read the review, I'm quite hesistant since you say the joystick is the biggest letdown. Is it really that bad?

My first phone was an Ngage and i fell in love with symbian.
I was in dire need of a 3rd edition phone with a low budget.
This phone answered my prayers. KUDOS NOKIA
In the review, there are some mistakes.
1. There is an keypad autolock feature.
2. The red button almost always closes the running application which is very irritating while playing games.
Some flaws with the phone though:
No pencil key, Camera too grainy, Joystick too stiff and slippery if fingers slightly oily. Also, after 3months of use:
Some keys on the front malfunction, but fix themselves after repeated twists. some loose contact problem.
The sound converter with the included CD is not perfect. Better to use mp3 format and not eAAC format.
U guys can close the music player though:
Here's how to completely exit music player
music player eats up your ram if its in the background, heres how to exit:
go to music player -> choose options and choose go to music menu -> click on all songs -> click options and select album art -> click options and select change -> choose graphic download ->then go to options and select exit... and you'll be completely be out ofthe music player.

Ah right philips it is. However philips isn't really well known for their earphones.. the earphones included is particularly very flat sounding, does not have any rich tones etc.. However, I must say this is definitely a good earphone to come bundled in a phone and I commend nokia for this. At least it gives some alternatives to SE w series that comes with their sony canal earphones, though i've never bought a SE w series.. as of yet.

The reason for comparing it to 3250 is probably cause it the predecessor to the twisting feature and 3250 was a pretty good music phone back then. And commenting on the weak bass.. this is argueable however i just thought id like to comment for those who are interested in this phone that it is definitely weak on the low frequencies.. in fact it is pretty noticable. However just on the low-low bass though. Personally its not an alternative to my music player. However, as the review said, aside from some minor drawbacks on the music side (being nothing special besides the "dedicated audio chip"), everything else is good =) (ignoring the horrible joystick)

A bargain for a phone with these kind of features and a smartphone too.

the original headphone sets that comes with the nokia 5700 xm is very good in the quality of music but i suggest u would use any other well known brand headphone set and see the difference of the sound quality ... trust me it double up the quality ... i used " i luv " headphone set and its like it doubled up the bass and the clarity of this phone ... this phone truly rocks as a music phone trust me its dedicated music chip is build to give u quality sounds ...

Shouldn't this be compared to the 5300 rather than the 3250?

just thought id mention that there is an auto keypad lock. well for my phone at least there was. unless you all mean some other auto keypad lock or if im mistaken.

And concerning the dedicated music keys, for me the stop button works by just holding down the play and pause button. but ah well.. perhaps its different firmware version or something..

and just thought id mention that i realllly do not like the earphones that come with this phone. all though its an canal in-ear earphone, and although it is made by some well known brand (it escapes my mind currently) it does not have any low bass and an all right mid-range. If you want good sound out of the earphone jack then i highly recommend a decent in-ear earphone. But ah well im abit fussy so it might just be me but it is a big difference.

overall a pretty good phone =)

Indeed a very cool fone considering it's unique design and features. Definitely outways the Sony Ericsson & their walkmans. Can't wait to get my hands on this. Thanx Nokia.

Well buddy, you would have to think of what you're gonna say. Nokia was the first in placing a 3.5mm (and even 2.5mm) connector to their phones.

SonyEricsson still has to figure that out.

Why? SonyEricsson Walkman phones also don't have a standard 3.5mm connector right? or is there any? Name it.

Wasted.
If nokia added a 3.5mm jack it would be a sure buy for me over the walkmans
