ren122, 07 Sep 2017tan you're overreaching man. the s8 and note 8 have the best displays atm. the only advantage ... moreI believe I am not.
Whilst both have their advantages and cons, have not yet seen a single professional factual compare of amoled on s8/note8 and ips lcd on xz premium.
If you are reffering to displaymate conclusion, look here:
Where is Sonys 4k hdr screen test or compare to proclaimed best screen?
Its a seriously unserious site if it doesnt even test the best advanced ips lcd mobile screen, but keeps awarding amoled against....amoled and apples lcd only.
That site can by factual merrits only conclude notes8 is the best amoled screen, but certainly not the best mobile screen, as it doesnt even test jdi's or LG's screens to compare them.
What kind of serious reference is then to be drawn from their tests?
And review sites keep sharing their articles, but never question this serious flaw in professionalism.

Market dictates industry (except apple, but that's different thing entirely and even they listen a bit these days) market wants OLED and even if I couldn't care about display type on my phone as long as it fulfills couple of criterias, OLED is the future. Can't survive without a quality display on product. Also display isn't the only thing that makes a phone worth a purchase. I guess you know that, don't you? Afterall that stuff is for TV's and Sony makes them the best
ren122, 07 Sep 2017sony is a part of JDISony is a financial part of JDI ONLY. Sony has no involvement in R&D, Designs, technology etc. And at present, Sony is only losing money wifh JDI.
tan you're overreaching man. the s8 and note 8 have the best displays atm. the only advantage of IPS lcd is taht uses less energy than Samsungs OLED or maybe its because due to sony's better optimizaiton.
otherwise sony still needs to do better with display

Then again. Nothing new from you

Surprising since it's the very first Sony related thing ... moreFurthermore, oled tech is prone to color deteriroration after mere 1000 hr of usage due to its blue pixel, and seriously susceptable to complete damage if it gets in touch with water.
A single serious phone overheat can cause screen burn in over the SoC area.
All this, and that things "I made up" are all available by simple google search.
We can only hope, tech companies like LG and JDI can make oled tech somewhat better...Samsung is a lost case on these points.

Bias towards Sony is all that forms your opinion.
I like and am interested in the contributions made by all tech companies, you seem to hate all except one, so don't talk of objectivity eh.
Tann Hauser, 05 Sep 2017Maybe Because so far oled mobile screen tech is really low quality tech compared to ips lcd?

Relish your opinions. Its a hipster world we live in afterall....where iphone is the best technological achievement, because it sells.

To a developer though, looking to build future services around mobile based 3D scanning, this is going to prove a decent preview of a feature.
Considering the XZ1 (like most smartphones) is going to be market relevant for not more than 2 years at most, then it's unlikely to see much active use of this particular model.

I always make it clear that the views I express are my just opinion, you pass yours off as irrefutable fact, that's 'in my opinion' a sure sign of arrogance.
But it matters not, your views are very much the minority where things like bezel-less designs, dual cameras etc are concert, cause whilst your yawning with boredom, the companies implementing such features are making a ton a money.
You'll warm to such features yourself once Sony adopt them no doubt........
Anonymous, 06 Sep 2017screen is the most important because people interact with it everytime they use their phones. ... moreYup, but most papers obviously see that 3d feature as sth new and worth a mention, sth new in mobile world, just as 960fps was not so long ago, whereas no body mentions those dual cameras, bezeles designs or hdr screens, but only as a sidenote....

In Tann's case, what ever Sony are not doing is 'boring', whatever is doing innovative and exciting etc.
That's just his simple 'objectivity' at play again.
Myself, I think this 3d modelling thing is creative and forward thinking, but is unlikely to see much use over the lifetime of this particular device. I also have my usual list of concerns where camera utilisation is involved.

Forget who makes Speakers for Sony, but definitely not Sony.
JDI is a joint venture of Sony, Toshiba, and Hitachi, with Sony operating as an autonomous entity since being founded in spring of 2012. Regardless of SonyÂ’s (lack of a) control over the firm, the fact remains that the Japanese consumer electronics manufacturer has a history of sourcing mobile display panels from JDI, especially those utilized in its flagships.
