LG KU990 Viewty review: Eyes wide open
The LG KU990 Viewty is a true powerhouse packing a mass of high-tech goodies under its hood: the impressive 3" touchscreen display with 240 x 400 pixels resolution, the HSDPA 3.6 Mbps capability, the stereo Bluetooth and the highly intriguing...

I live in Canada too and intend on buying one of these when it's released. I currently use a Sony Ericsson W700, which is triband.. and it's reception works fine (minus some places in my house). My sister uses an LG Chocolate which is also triband, and that works just fine. I don't think you should let the fact that this phone is triband turn u off it!!
O yea, and where do u intend on buying it from? I'm looking for potential stores and sellers.
Thanks

This phone is awesome, as a rule i usually steer clear of touch screen phones... being a clean freak i hate fingerprints but this may change my mind... having used a prada i must admit i am very impressed by its ease of use and quality... I may just have to aquire one of these babies when it gets unleashed in the UK market... Heres hoping that they dont get too crazy with the price tag! Keep up the good reviews GSMARENA! I regulaly refer to your reviews for details on phones in my job at vodafone and please keep it up!

It is tri-band! The specs are right and the review is wrong!
They shlould fix that, I presume. The official LG press release states tri-band GSM/EDGE.

In one of the earlier prototypes, LG had included an icon called "TV" in their menu. I see that is has been taken out. Seems like they are trying to narrow down its scope?

XP - they must have updated the review because it now says Tri-Band.
Sucks for us here in Canada ... so limited with phone options.

I'm from Canada. I really like to find a source that can confirm whether it supports GSM850 . GSMarena spec said it was quad-band before and had been updated to tri-band since a few weeks ago. And this review says that one of its advantage is that it is QUAD-band again? I relaly like to this phone but if it's tri-band, then it won't receive well in Canda/US. Pitiful :

I am impressed with the interface. It looks just like iPhone's, especially the QWERTY keypad and the scrolling through, or should I say running through the contacts.
The camera's functions seem very advanced, which I do not think Nokia can replicate, except for perhaps having a higher resolution, but not in terms of better camera features, I should think.
It's a pity it doesn't have wifi. Though many might think HSDPA is sufficient, which I agree, the HSDPA plans are still costly in Singapore and wifi is free at many locations. It makes sense to use wifi for the next few months until the HSDPA prices, I expect should drop by the middle of next year, when the telcos realise the uptake is not as high as they would wish for.
And no operating system. But still, it runs on Java and Flash, which is very much sufficient, and the internet surfing is great!
True, the memory card should be placed on the outside, but then, this is a great phone anyway!
