> In reply to Not happy Jan! @ 2009-10-30 14:04 from PAP1Those tests are all about the device's "HEADPHONE" output jack quality "just the quality" even not loudness mentioned!! and those test have nothing to do with the speaker loudness and its quality,
AND, i have to mention here, their tests are fair and tells you 99 percent of the realism(save that 1percent for their test equipment calibration)

Hell no this test is very wrong, I have a 5800XM. Very exellent speakers, and a lot louder than f480, YES a HELL of a lot louder. I also noticed that w595 se, is like the loudest. Nope. i saw about +3 phones that are louder, yes thats true. i tested 5800 vs w595, hello 5800 won, (pink noise testing) but yet GSMarena say otherwise, and the calling of 5800 is very loud to.

Maybe when gsm arena do these tests the dont think about the different locations of the speakers and the number of speakers too.

The 5800 only has speakers on the left side (thats fine by me,) w595 has speaker top and bottom. Did they figure out that sitting the w595 on a table and putting the noise tester facing the bottom or the top would totally get a different reading from 5800?

I hope that they fix these and point the noise-o-meter facing the speakers.

:*

Where in the review they said about the loudness????????

Thats the noise level value which has bigger value on n96 than n95, which means n96 has lower background hiss, ... do a search first and learn something before you post anything, Id10T.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-07-05 09:58 from mBdVI completely agree with you, they measuring the sound specs at highest possible volume. e.g. any samsung devices they tested have a graph which shows you the bass is cuted at 50-60Hz, but thats not true.
I have a samsung i8910 HD right now and did some audio test on my own, i just downloaded some very low audio test signals (from 10-300Hz)
I would say this phone is capable to play sound as low as 15Hz and you could even hear that with pair of good headphones. I also checked with a spectrum analyser, the audio level would drop a bit (-1.5db)below 30Hz at very high volumes but wont CUT OFF as review says:

http://www.gsmarena.com/samsun...ew-380p6.php

The bass line is so good comparing with my decent ("what hifi?" magazine five star passed) portable CD player

I think it would be better they measure the audio in mid volumes. Some phones which measured in good audio graph (like iphone 3gs and nokia N97) may have lower sound level(volume) then the ones with shaky audio graph especially at bass levels, because high sound levels are difficult to drive by a portable device's amplifire especially at very low ferquency bass levels. Thats why some devices like samsungs which generally have DNSe technology turn the bass down at high volumes to prevent intermodulation distortion.

Trusting my hearing, i think other things measured correctly like S/N ratio, distortion levels and IMD,...

> In reply to carm @ 2009-07-21 12:15 from MSRnnokia 6110 navigator has very loud speakers and has very good quality. You cant trust this gsmarena sound test results because according to the results 6110 navigator has very low volume which is very incorrect. Its very frustrating cos when i buy a phone that has a good camera it probably have crap speaker like k800i. But i must warn you 6110 nav camera is rubbish and the volume of the earphones are to low.

i am hard of hearing.I must say it has been a NIGHTMARE to find out from ANY manufactures, shops and web sites, which phones are the loudest and best clarity for the hard of hearing people.

can any one help ...no they can't... it is driving me mad.

can any one give me a short list of just 5 handsets i can try out thats is good on volume and clarity.

shops just can't be bothered or offer the chance to get the handset out to try out for volume before you buy.

This site is the closest i've come to to find out.
THANK YOU GSMA

I think i know whats wrong with the tests!

The GSM Device only measure the loudest tone that the phone produce in the sample...

Most of the SE phones known by their several Loud high Tons in some songs, but actually the average DBs are way lower than the Nokia's compedetors...

Its 1 options, the other option is that GSM dont use the Full Equaliser sets, or even decrease the phones volume in order to have fine quality.

GSM, Il be glad if you will answer me about the Equaliser and Volume issues, here, or in my E-Mail tls108@gmail.com

kk you are right about the loudspeaker test, as what came to my understanding t650 is the loudest when music is played which is incorrect also D900 is no where near to 6233. GSMARENA please clarify the results in your reviews as to how loud is the sound in comparison and what is your ratings!!

No walkman phone in audio testing :-)
"

You right, its absoloutly incorrcet..
I have 2 friends which have 6233 and T650, The 6233 ruined the T650, i hardly noticed that the T650 was playing music near to the 6233.
the 6233 is more than Twice louder than the T650.

Sorry GSM...

This test is awful...

I'm very on to this music loudness crap, and i know the loudness of lots of mobiles, so i can tell that your test is comletly wrong i can swear..

N96 is loud from the N95 8GB in 10Db?! LMFAO i check it alot of times, the 8GB is slightly louder....

The G502 is 6Dbs more than the 6233?! LOL even more funny

Warm suggestions, GSM, delete this awful list so you wont mislead more ppls.

Bye

Hello GSM!

Thanks fot that Amazing test! ive been waiting for somthing like this for a long time...

Though, i have some qestions and requests about the the test...

Im talking about the loudness test, in the Pink noise/ Music, that represents the speakerphones loudness in Mp3 Music. (isnt it? =P)

How could it be, that the Nokia 6233, the loudest phone ever created, got only 69.5 ?!
And how could it be, that the N95 8GB, that is a little bit louder than the N96, have so much less DB than the N96?

Did you measure the phones loudness with MAX Equalizer?
Did you measure the phones loudness with MAX Volume?

And, GSM Team,
Can you test the Omnia HD and the N73 speakers too?

Thanks for all!
The Site is Just AMAZING!

p.s
im very sorry about bad grammer, i speak diffrent langugage in real life...

In the test the w980 is louder than w995.
How is that possible?
W995 has 2 very large stereo speakers and w980 has 2 tiny stereo speakers..

I am confused...
Someone, anyone please reply...I really need to know why the test results are these.

Thannk you

Can you include SAR levels for these phones from now on? CNET does it, and it's a good idea to include these values in your product summaries. It will be well suited for the health-minded readers. Cause I would certainly like to know if that new phone I'm looking at, has a great camera, wifi, and won't bombard me with radiation in the process.

If anyone wants to know what SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) is, it's simply a measure of the radio frequency energy (radiation) that is absorbed by the body. Cellphones must have an SAR value below 1.6 W/kg to pass the FCC. See http://reviews.cnet.com/cell-p...tion-levels/ for more details.
