Nokia N95 8GB review: Return of the king

I keep wondering how people all around the internet keep praising the picture quality of the N95. All the examples I have seen (fullscreen) are simply and utterly horrible. People, look at it closely! The pictures are all blurry and artificialy softened. And even then, they still have lots of obvious noise, even in blue skies in broad daylight.
Maybe it's because the people who put them on the web are using too much compression, because a real 5mp picture would be about 6 times the size of a 21" monitor. I really hope so.
I own a Nokia N70 and it definitely has the best (phone)camera I ever had. I used to sell cars, and I took all the pictures with the N70 and put them straight on the net without ever editing.
The 3mp N70 makes the N95 look like a 1.3mp camera.
I am still buying the N95 8gb though because of it's connectivity, and all in one features, but I will surely miss the superb pictures of the N70.
I can only hope that the real pictures turn out much better than what I've seen online.
If that's the case I will eat my words, and write an update.
I will have the N95 8gb on wednessday.
I'll report then.

I find it hard to believe that GSMArena thinks the screen is of high quality. It isn't. The colours are so washed out compared to other phones that it isn't funny at all... that's my only gripe about the phone though, everything else is great.

This is the phone
wow, I am using it , loving it, really awesome phone, all what you need: video quality, music quality, gps, space 8gb, wlan, tv out, ....and brilliant looks indeed ..this black color is perfect
the only drawback _in my point of view_ is still the battery .. even after it is enhancedto be better than the ordinary N95 ,, is still of short life span
overall, if you are still thinking , go ahead you fool and buy yourself one of these ;)

Awesome review. I just noticed the GPS screenshots. Acton Way? Hah, I used to live a block away from there! Hooray for Berkeley pride. Go Bears!

I've read the N95-1 review and this... they both said the built in GPS is incompatible w/ 3rd party app. ... What about Route66? I've been using it w/ my N95-1 since Oct. haven't had any problem w/it, need some proof???

i've seen it,touched it,the feel is excellent, quality material to last, the screen is drop dead gorgeous, colour black much better than previous n95,comparing now with the Sony 5mp,that screen is crap, sorry mr Sony, the point of a camera phone is not really to rush to your photographer and developp, but maybe simply to enjoy watching your pics on the go...say on your mobile screen ??? so what's the point of a better cam if no screen i dont see it.

ANYONE WITH N95 PROBLEMS . . . . .i work for a very large, well known phone & network provider , any problems with any n95 . . . . poor battery life, handset switches off, restarts and reboots, speaker & sound faults etc . . take it back to where you got it from & have it replaced, earlier you report it the better, usually when you have a faulty handset and you report it within 14 - 28 days of receiving it you will get a brand new replacement, after this period of days you will receive a refurbish handset (second hand) which cust's are not always aware of untill it is replaced, n95-1 was & still is an amzing handset but has been known to be extremely faulty, i deal with faulty handset every day of my working life, i will soon be handling the n95-2 & will post what faults i may come across beginning of january , if you feel your handset is doing something that is not right, report it . . even if the fault stops as from my experiance it will come back & usually it comes back with multiple & worse faults than you originally experianced

Hi guys!
I want to know a couple of things:
1 - Is there any way to edit office documents (any programme or if you have to pay extra money)?
2 - Do we have to pay our network to use the GPS?
Thanks in advance!

Thanx May for the info. I had emailed Mokia and then "reminded" them after 2 weeks, but still got no answers. Tonite after seeing ur message I found a review on "allaboutsymbian.com" which i found thru livingroom.com.au which has a very good synopsis of the changes from N95-1. Seems lens is now flush with body & no lens cap -good. Also it can stand on side for a "timed" shot, as well as having 80Mb RAM and a larger battery, altho as reviewer said it actually boots slower than origanal N95. I didn't see any reference to faster camera setup - i.e faster shot taking, Xenon flash, manual camera setup, or auto shut-off on closing slider; all of which I was asking Nokia about.
Still checking out the LG "viewty" (KU990) - only released this week - Sony K850i - who said it does not take good day shots? - and the Samsung B600.
Regards
