5 megapixel face-off: Vox populi - read the full textIt’s been a while since our last cameraphone shootout and you know how much we love them. With all those 5 megapixel cameraphones around, our hands were just itching to make a grand 5 megapixel face-off with as many of the current 5 megapixel cameraphones as possible. The stars in this episode of our Shootout series...

C is NOKIA, A is SE, B & C N/A

Cameraphone B & Cameraphone C have slightly same performance. Two of them is the best among the 4 cameraphones. My favourite among the 4 is cameraphone C. In my own eyes, I believe it produced the best pictures among all the competitors. Juz my 5 cents^^

It would be great to also supply a shot of each scene using a proper camera so that we know what the scene is supposed to look like when reproduced faithfully. The flower shot, for instance, varies a lot from phone to phone, and it's hard to tell whose color is the most accurate.

I loved the contrast, colours and detail in C. A is also very good but the level of detail is not quite as good. There's a reddish tinge to the shots from B but probably just beats D because of the level of detail.

For the close-up shots, the reddish tinge to B is quite apparent with the red flower though it has focused on the violet flower beautifully. I'd mark A down a little on these because they're just not as well focused as the others.

So to summarise, if I was to choose which set of shots I'd be most happy with, I'd go with C, A, B, D.

Judging by the pictures, A=Nokia, B=SE, and C & D are Samsung and LG. (the macro pics reveal the SE :P )
D is way to pale, the colors are washed-up, so it is the last place.
A has good pics if you look at them from a distance but the fine details are gone (look at the third set of photos, at the stone in front of the train - observe the pattern on it - if there is one...)
B and C have the most natural colors (my opinion, don't shoot!); B has the best macro, C the best details reproduction.
Conclusion: ... I don't know; B or C ??? (SE or Samsung) ...

P.S.: I own a SE K850.
