Samsung F490 review: Fingertip away - read the full textThe Samsung F490 follows a trend that we welcome - touch-based user interface and a 5 megapixel autofocus camera. Add a widescreen 3.2" TFT display and a slim profile, and it already sounds like a juicy deal. We've already reviewed...

HI,there!
What's the differnce between F490 and F490V?

Samsung F490 VS iphone iphone THAT was obsolete even before arriving to european market,,who buy it,,who who,, not so clever kids or ignorant people with money to spend in ridiculous contracts,,,what do they get,,they get a sloww web, even worst camera, bad batery life, but good enough to hit a mate in the office so in the end is good,,,at least for dummies, read the comparations and go for others liKE THE Samsung F490 for ex!iupii IS GOOD GOOD

The f490v does have autofocus, however the camera still isnt that good. but overal the phone is great the standard music player is great. Just don't expect to much from musicstation with this phone

in the review it mentioned that it was not possible to watch a widescreen film on the phone. I have also seen this mentioned in reviews else where (shock horror).

has anyone tried themselves to encode a film in this resolution, and has it worked.

ty all

Why is the image quality of F490 camera so bad? And why is this bad quality not pointed out in this review?

Well what can I say..that's award winning Interface my dear.

And to the person below..dannie,...seems you dont even read the article. The reviwer mentioned it clearly that this is aimed at LG viewty and its NOT a "iPhone Killer".

why don't samsung either make a great touch based os like google are doing or wait it out for the s60 touch, the phone is great but looks kinda ugly on the inside

nDCk is right: This is the F490V Vodafone variant which explains the demo games, vodafone live icon in the menu and alternate (in this case better looking) icons. The unbranded one would have full games but those hideously ugly icons seen in the Armani phone

Well... you actually tested Samsung F490V, which is a Vodafone branded firmware. Oh, and the icons are so legible due to the new Vodafone branding. As for the games, it's true... carriers do want demo versions in the phones so you can download the full versions from the carriers' portals. An unbranded handset would have full games and other icons (and possibly other RF values).

Regarding the games "issue", it's a new wave in carriers. They like to offer trial version of the games. No matter if the phone cost 400€ or 40€. I have right here a N95 8GB with a nice branded firmware which is pretty ugly and a few trial games.

It's a pity that if we spend high amounts of money they still offer the same sales quality...a limited product

Thanks for your nice reviews
